Being startled, Jiang Yuyan asked, “What happened?”
“Wait here.” Saying Lu Qiang went to the bedside table and brought the gift box, which he pulled out from his bag when Jiang Yuyan went inside the bathroom. Looking at her through the mirror while standing behind her, he held that gift in front of her and said, “This is for you.”
Jiang Yuyan looked at him through the mirror and then at the beautifully carved tiny wooden box. She understood it was her birthday gift and wanted to say what was the need, but she couldn’t as she was happy that he brought something for her. Being his woman it was her right to get a gift from him and which woman in the world would say no to the gift when her man buys it for her with so much love.
Accepting the box from his hand, Jiang Yuyan opened it while smiling pleasantly, sitting in front of the dressing table. There was one heart-shaped platinum pendant with a platinum chain. Jiang Yuyan pulled out the chain out of the box and looked at the pendant hanging in front of her eyes. That pendant had a tiny violet stone engraved in it on the right up corner. There was something more than Jiang Yuyan noticed and held that independent in her fingers.
Looking at the pendant carefully, Jiang Yuyan saw there was one symbol carved on it. It was a vertical symbol having two S-shaped spiral figures entangled with each other; the one was smaller while the other one was longer. She checked it by running her finger on it lightly and asked, “It looks like some kind of symbol.”
Lu Qiang nodded. “It is.”
Lifting her head up to look at him through the mirror, she asked, “What does it mean?”
Lu Qiang leaned down to get the chain and the pendant from her and put it around her neck and said, “It’s the symbol, representing ‘unconditional love’ and the two figures in it are you and me, entangled with each other not to get separate ever.” 1
Running her hand along the chain around her neck and stopping it at the pendant, she said, smiling, “It’s beautiful.”
“Just like you,” Lu Qiang said.
Jiang Yuyan stood up from her place and turned to look at Lu Qiang. “It defines both of us and I will never let it separate from me.”
when both were sleeping in a bed with Jiang Yuyan resting her head on Lu Qiang’s arm while playing with the pendent with her fingers, she asked, “Why didn’t you celebrate your birthday for years?”
“Because the person with whom I wanted to celebrate it was missing from my life.” Lu Qiang answered.

When Jiang Yang went to his bedroom, he got a call. Seeing Lu Feng’s name flashing on the screen, he smiled teasingly and received it. “So, finally you can admit that you can’t be without me.”
“Shut up and come out. I am waiting in the parking lot.” Without giving Jiang Yang a chance to talk, Lu Feng hung up the call. Soon Jiang Yang reached the parking lot and went to Lu Feng’s car. He sat inside and asked, “What happened?”
“Nothing. Let’s go out for drinks.” Replying, Lu Feng turned on the engine and turned the car to leave the place, not giving Jiang Yang a chance to reject him.
“It’s midnight, Lu Feng,” Jiang Yang said.
“The best time to drink,” Lu Feng said, ignoring what Jiang Yang was trying to say.
“Midnight is the best time to do other things, too. Have you missed me because of that?” As Jiang Yang knew, Lu Feng won’t listen, he went back to his teasing mode.
“You have a woman now. Once we finish drinking, I will drop you to her place so you can do other midnight things with her,” Lu Feng said while focusing on driving.
“You must be jealous of her.”
Frowning, Lu Feng replied, “My ass! I will be thankful to her for saving my chastity from one asshole.” 1
“Right now we are alone and you never know what I will do to you, especially after you are drunk,” Saying Jiang Yang laughed a little.
“You dare and I will make one call to aunt Song Meiling to give her details about your preferences.”
“Man, you always shut my mouth with her mother’s name. Forget it, if you don’t want to get embraced by a handsome man like me, it’s your loss.”
“I am ready to get such losses.”
Soon both reached the pub which was their usual drinking place, an upstairs glass room in the pub from which one could see what was happening downstairs. Lu Feng was a known person there as he was a person from the Lu family. Whenever he came to the pub, the manager there always came to welcome in personally and to get on his good side.
A manager instructed an attendant to be there and look after what the guests will need, to which, the boy nodded. Lu Feng ordered too much alcohol leaving Jiang Yang shocked. “Are you ordering it for the whole pub or what?”
“I plan to drink the whole night,” Lu Feng replied casually.
“I have to go to the hospital tomorrow, so don’t expect me to give you company to finish it.”
“I have instructed in the hospital that you won’t be coming tomorrow.”
“What the hell. I had an important patient to attend tomorrow. How could you…”
“You are not the only doctor in the world, there are so many qualified doctors in the hospital. Moreover, you should not forget to whom that hospital belongs, so I can order them to give you leave.”
“Misuse of power, huh!”
“As long as it won’t hurt anyone, it’s fine.”
Giving out a deep sigh, Jiang Yang said, “What can I say now? Let’s drink then.”
The drinks arrived and as the attendant was about to serve them, Lu Feng spoke. “You can leave.” The boy left leaving the two friends alone.
While drinking Jiang Yang said, “Lu Feng, I want to ask you something.”
