At this moment, his heart pulsed rapidly and it was so sudden to the point where he let out a cough.

After Xu Xinduo finished washing the dishes, she wiped her hands and turned to look at Tong Yan. She asked, “Why haven’t you slept yet?”
“I’m so angry that I can’t sleep.”
“Continue to be angered then, you can’t change the outcome anyways.”
Tong Yan followed Xu Xinduo out of the kitchen. Xu Xinduo already turned off the lights, so only the kinetic sensor lights under their feet remained lit in the room.
He suddenly asked, “Have you checked?”
Xu Xinduo didn’t hide the truth and answered directly, “Mm.”
When Tong Yan passed the living room, he sat directly on the sofa, ready to chat with Xu Xinduo.
Xu Xinduo walked over and sat down as she turned on the wall lamp above the sofa.
“Qiao Nian is my mother’s ex-boyfriend,” Tong Yan said bluntly.
“So part of the rumour was true?”
“Well, Qiao Nian came to the house one time and suddenly grabbed me, not letting go. He held a knife to my neck and yelled at my mother hysterically. I can’t remember exactly what was said because I was really scared at that moment, but I remember the general gist of it. My mother abandoned him, and in order to ‘steal’ my mother, my father made his company plunge into bankruptcy as Qiao Nian became heavily caught in debt.”
Qiao Nian was really related to Tong Yan’s scar.
Xu Xinduo suddenly felt her heart ache. He experienced this at such a young age. What was Tong Yan’s mood at that time?
