Tong Yan frowned slightly, but he did not let go of Xu Xinduo’s feet. He persisted to ask her without the intention of giving up, “Can’t you just breach the contract?”
“It’s not just as simple as breaching the contract. If I breach the contract as soon as I join the entertainment industry, it would make me appear unreliable and would affect my career negatively in this industry.”
“You haven’t officially started working yet, so just paying liquidated damages will be enough. I promise you that it will not cause you any trouble.”
“Tong Yan, I can’t afford the liquidated damages. I don’t want to rely on you too much and I want to have my own source of income. Things are not good between me and my mother because she is completely attached to my father and lives without a speck of dignity. I feel very angry when I look at her and I don’t want to end up like her.”
Tong Yan pursed his lips. He wanted to respect Xu Xinduo’s decision but he also didn’t want to give her up.
He finally asked Xu Xinduo seriously, “Then, do you…like me?”
“I gave up.”
“What do you mean by ‘I gave up’?”
“Tong Yan, I’ve had a crush on you for so many years. I don’t know when it started but I was surprised when I first realized it, which progressed to me being conflicted all this time. I was afraid that if you knew about it, you would treat me like how you treat Liu Yating. Just the thought of the two of us not even being friends was too scary so…I gave up. But now, right after I signed the contract that prohibited me from being in relationships, you came to provoke me. Tong Yan, are you here to torture me?”
Tong Yan never knew of these things. He was so surprised that he looked at Xu Xinduo dumbly.
Xu Xinduo had a crush on him?
It was like a dream.
The person he liked happened to like him too.

“It’s not like I can’t wait; it’s just eleven months. What are you being so serious about? You liked me for a few years already, so why can’t I pursue you for a year?”
