“Yes, I want to live a normal life. I am sick and tired of pretending to be ill all the time. I also want to go skiing, fool around and follow the school’s schedule like a normal kid. I think if I study regularly, I will surely surpass you in no time.”
Xu Xinduo suddenly sighed, “Although I know you are in a bad mood, I have to shatter your wishful fantasies. Even if you study normally and I end up studying irregularly, you will still be unable to surpass me.”
Her statement successfully amused Shao Qinghe.
Xu Xinduo said, “You should try going skiing and take your first step.”
Shao Qinghe replied in an aggrieved tone, “I don’t know how to.”
“Look for Mu Qingyi; he will teach you how.”
“He is actually completely hopeless when it comes to sports.”
“What?!”
“Do you remember the time when we came to watch your tennis game? At that time, Mu Qingyi didn’t believe that you were good at sports— he was not good at sports himself, after all. That’s also the reason why he couldn’t calm down for a long time after you won that match. According to him, if the two of you were twins, why was the difference in skill that large?”
Xu Xinduo was also surprised as she replied, “He didn’t seem like that though.”
“Have you ever seen Mu Qingyi jumping around?”
“No.”
“Have you ever seen him dance?”
“No.”
“He can’t dance at all because of his horrible ability to coordinate his body movements. He looks thin because he is a picky eater and he does not have any chest muscles nor abdominal muscles. His body is not even better than mine, despite me supposedly being ill.”
Xu Xinduo immediately understood that nothing good was going to come out from this conversation. It was time to escape!
Unfortunately, Shao Qinghe called out in a gentle tone, “Little sister Duo.”
“My body isn’t strong enough, I can’t afford to get a cold!”
“It will not take long at all—you just need to teach me how to put on ski equipment, how to start sliding and how to stop it. No coach will be available at this time of the night.”
Xu Xinduo immediately turned around and walked to the door. She pointed to the doorknob and said, “Only ten minutes! Open the door, this doorknob is way too cold!”
Shao Qinghe immediately followed her with a smile. He stretched out his hand to open the door and whispered in a gentleman-like manner, “After you.”
Xu Xinduo then took Shao Qinghe to the ski resort. Since Shao Qinghe didn’t even have any skis or any other skiing equipment, he had to rent them.
Xu Xinduo looked at him and said, “My advice for you is to wear an extra layer of socks. You might as well put on an extra layer of plastic, I think.”
Shao Qinghe was very obedient. He couldn’t find any extra socks to wear, so he bought two plastic bags and put them on his feet.
After dressing neatly, Xu Xinduo began her impromptu teaching and pointed out things for Shao Qinghe to pay attention to, who in turn, listened very carefully.
After that, Shao Qinghe went onto the snow to try things out, Xu Xinduo following him closely behind. She stood not far away from him and gave him some more instructions.
Xu Xinduo was about to leave but then, she suddenly turned around and asked Shao Qinghe,”You observe others a lot. According to you, do you think Tong Yan likes me?”
Shao Qinghe was very surprised when he heard this question and he asked, “In your opinion, am I a suitable person to be a ‘best friend’?”
“I’m not too sure about ‘best friends’, but I think I can talk to you occasionally.”
“Him, huh…” Shao Qinghe said after pondering over it momentarily, “If you show even a little sign of falling in love with him, he will be yours instantly. However, don’t you have a contract to uphold?”
It was exactly because of the contract that Xu Xinduo was feeling conflicted.
