Just as Mother Qi said, as soon as Chi Shuyan and Qi Zhenbai entered, Grandpa Qi looked at them expectantly, his wrinkled face revealing an amiable and loving expression.
Qi Zhenbai called out first, “Grandpa!”
Chi Shuyan also greeted him. Seeing that the couple seemed to be doing well, Grandpa Qi chuckled and said, “It’s good that you’re back! It’s good that you’re back! After dinner tonight, stay the night!”

Grandpa Qi had the two of them sit down. Father Qi, Second Uncle Qi, and the others were busy with their own things and weren’t in the living room. Qi Yunchang and the other cousins weren’t in the living room either. Thinking of Shuyan’s chess skills, Grandpa Qi waved for the child to come over and play chess with him before dinner.
Chi Shuyan smiled and immediately sat down next to the old man. When she drew a black piece, she said with a smile, “Grandpa, it doesn’t make a difference who goes first in this game. As the saying goes, respect the old and cherish the young. You go first!”
“Cheeky!” Grandpa Qi chuckled and put down a chess piece, then Chi Shuyan did the same.
While Grandpa Qi was playing chess, he didn’t forget to ask Zhenbai about meeting his future father-in-law in the military district. He asked, “Zhenbai? Did you listen to me and say hello to your future father-in-law?”
