I Am A Prodigy Chapter 302

Chapter 302 - Capital University’s Big Move

302 Capital University’s Big Move

Miyako stared dumbfoundedly at Ye Lingchen

“Does this card look familiar?” Ye Lingchen opened his hands and displayed them in front of Miyako. In his hand was a deck of poker cards.

Miyako’s expression changed suddenly. Those cards were the deck that she always brought along with her. Immediately, she checked her pockets which turned out empty. She asked in surprise, “When did you—”

Before she could finish her sentence, Ye Lingchen slammed his hands on the table, launching the deck of poker cards into the air. As they fell, it was nicely arranged in four stacks from the Ace to K!

Miyako’s eyes popped wide open. She had to admit that it was impossible for her. Ye Lingchen swiped his hands over them, and four Aces were held within his fingers. Following that, with a flick of his wrists, all four cards spun at high speed, cutting through the air with a sonic boom, piercing straight into the vase in front of him!

“T-t-t-this…” Miyako’s body trembled and gasped a mouthful of cold air. If those cards were launched at a person, it would only be stronger than bullets.

She turned around to look at Ye Lingchen, just to see his face twitching as though in pain.

‘F*ck!’

That vase was a gift from Lu group, which he heard was an antique.

Impulsive. He had acted impulsively!

The next day, Ye Lingchen went back to university, just to receive a notice telling all students to meet at the university’s grand hall.

The grand hall would usually open only for big events, for example, the yearly graduation ceremony, or the school-wide arts exhibition. The sudden announcement for them to gather at the grand hall was out of everyone’s expectations.

Along the way, the entire class was queuing up to enter the grand hall.

All the first to third-year students were chattering, exchanging information, trying to guess at what huge incident might have happened.

“What’s the deal? What’s the big incident that shook the whole university?” Little Gen tried to look around to gather more information using his height advantage.

“Could it be some big event?” Potato voiced his guess. “This is just too sudden. Even the classes are canceled.”

“Ye’zi, look over there.” Xiang nudged at Ye Lingchen, then said creepily, “Those girls over there are obviously talking about you.”

Ye Lingchen looked over, just to see that group of girls happily chatting away while occasionally looking over. When they saw Ye Lingchen glancing at them, they did not cower, but instead bravely faced his gaze.

It was Ye Lingchen that gave in instead. Shaking his head as he laughed bitterly. He did not expect his fame on campus to linger until then.

“Ye’zi, you’re now killing it. Even the girls from Huaqing University next door are sending you love letters!” Potato made a jealous jab at him. “If I had such treatment, I’d laugh myself away from my dream.”

The gang chatted happily as they entered the grand hall.

Coincidentally, their line was nicely placed next to that group of girls earlier.

“You’re Ye Lingchen?” asked one of the more courageous ones amongst the girls.

“Mm, nice to meet you.” Ye Lingchen nodded with a smile.

“I’m from the second year, one of your seniors,” said the girl. “You’re absolutely dashing when playing basketball! I heard that the provincial basketball association invited you to join them. That’s just amazing.”

“Uh, it’s nothing much,” Ye Lingchen replied humbly, rubbing his nose.

“Student Ye, I’ve heard that you know how to cook and it tastes amazing. How did you learn to do that?” asked one of the other girls as she grew bolder. “I’ve learned how to cook before, but the food I cooked following the recipe doesn’t taste nice. Are there any special tricks? Why don’t you teach me when you’re free?”

“Student Ye, last time I went to shoot hoops but I’ve got nothing. How can you be that accurate? Why don’t you bring me there for revenge?” asked another one of the girls.

That was clearly an attempt to ask him out for a date!

Countless eyes around him turned red, looking at him with glares filled with jealousy and hate. Such fortune with the ladies was not something they could ask for.

The girls chatted away, a word here and there, making small talk with Ye Lingchen.

Occasionally, Potato and the rest would join in the conversation. The group instantly broke into a full-blown chatter fest.

“Quite down! Stop your chattering!”

Right then, a strict voice could be heard as a spectacled student walked over.

His facial features seemed a lot more mature compared to the average students. His brows were tightly knitted together and his voice stern.

Ye Lingchen could clearly feel the animosity in his gaze.

After he left, Xiang finally muttered, “He’s Pu Lin, a third-year student in the mathematics department that loves to mind other people’s business.”

“Does he have some beef with us? Why is he only staring at us?” Ye Lingchen frowned. The entire grand hall was filled with chatter that none of the professors even bothered. Why would a third-year senior come over to talk them down?

“This I do have an idea. Student Ye, you’ve offended him before.” One of the girls made a faint smile, then looked over at Ye Lingchen.

“Me?”

“Pu Lin likes one of the girls in the second year and was just freshly rejected not so long ago. Do you know what’s the reason for the rejection?”

“Could it be related to me?” Ye Lingchen had a rough idea.

“Of course it’s related to you!” The girl looked at Ye Lingchen, amused by his plight. “That girl asked him a series of questions. Do you play basketball? Can you cook? Can you hit shoot hoops at 100 percent accuracy? Those three questions in a row struck him critically, taking Pu Lin out in an instant. She even ended it with “If you have half of Ye Lingchen’s capabilities, I’ll consider being your girlfriend.”

‘That…’

Ye Lingchen let out a bitter laugh. That hatred was fully aimed at him!

“Hahaha, so that’s the case!” Potato and the rest immediately broke out into fits of laughter. “Damn it, a senior trying to fight for a junior sister. How shameless!”

“He’s blaming this on Ye’zi? With such pettiness, it’s no wonder he can’t find a girlfriend,” Little Gen scoffed.

“You’re still talking?!” Pu Lin approached them once more. “What are you guys doing here in university if you can’t even be disciplined! Are you honoring your parents doing so?”

After that, he stared at Ye Lingchen, sneering, “You know why we’re here? It’s because last weekend, someone representing our Capital City won first place in the Interprovincial Mathematics Competition!”

“First place?” exclaimed one of the students. “It can’t be. I’ve heard that some of the participants of this competition from the other provinces were OP brainiacs. Previously the mathematics department was still talking about how great it would be just to be in the top five.”

“I remember that last year, even our Capital University didn’t manage to get first place. Did they manage to place first this time?!”

Everyone was stunned as they stared at Pu Lin in disbelief.

“Hehe, that’s right. It’s the first place!” Pu Lin put on a faint smile. “Furthermore, the reason they could place first this time is because of a mathematical genius from our university!”

“A-a-amazing!”

“No wonder the university authorities are placing so much importance in this. I wonder who’s that genius.”

“Our university’s mathematics level is slightly inferior to Huaqing. For a few years now, we didn’t produce any proper mathematical genius. I didn’t expect there to be such an amazing person hidden in our midst. So scary!”
