I Am A Prodigy Chapter 239

Chapter 239 - Gambling Match!

Was that…an invitation?

Everyone around looked at Ye Lingchen and waited for his answer.

Meng Jiu’s reputation was undoubtedly great. He had already won more than five million by then and many were in awe of his methods.

“Okay!”

Ye Lingchen smiled and sat directly opposite of Meng Jiu. Lu Tianxiong and Lu Hao were responsible for observing the battle beside Ye Lingchen.

There were five people at the table, including Ye Lingchen, and the game was Texas Hold’em.

Playing Texas Hold’em similarly required bets to be made.

To begin, each player would be dealt two cards. The dealer will then deal three flop cards to the center of the table, face-up. Players would then have to evaluate whether their two cards formed any combination with the cards on the table. Those who felt that they had a good hand could choose to raise.

Raising was divided into three rounds.

After the first raise, the dealer would deal with the fourth face-up card. After the second raise, the fifth card would be dealt in the same manner. The third raise was to appraise the value of the flop cards.

The game was not complicated, but it was easy to win or lose money. Skills were of the utmost importance, differing greatly from Baccarat.

“The buy-in for each round is a hundred thousand, and every raise must be no less than that!” Meng Jiu’s eyes were like a viper and he licked his tongue while making that remark.

“Only one hundred thousand?” Ye Lingchen was briefly stunned before shaking his head condescendingly. “No point playing if it’s that low. I suggest upping it to one million. If you can’t take the heat, scram!”

Everyone’s minds went blank and even Meng Jiu was at a loss as to answer that.

It was then that they finally knew why Ye Lingchen could eliminate the 11 simultaneously. The kid simply came purely to cause trouble and could be termed a game destroyer.

Everyone started with only a total of 10 million chips, so if he insisted on raising it to a million, how many rounds could a player even last?

He was using that to speed up the game!

Meng Jiu suddenly began to regret it. The kid was a troublemaker and the only thing to be blamed was Meng Jiu’s mouth. Why did he have to ask Ye Lingchen to come over?

“Hey, you called me over. Are you starting to regret it now?” Ye Lingchen said to the silent Meng Jiu.

Meng Jiu looked at Wei Hong with doubtful eyes.

Wei Hong’s brows were also furrowed. He whispered a question, “How confident are you of winning against him?”

“More than eighty-percent!” Meng Jiu’s voice was faint. He was very confident in his gambling skills, and in truth, he was not that afraid of playing against anyone in Texas Hold’em. The reason for that was his eyes—he could clearly remember the order of the cards. In other words, he was able to determine other players’ hole cards!

“Then agree with his request and eliminate him as soon as possible!” Wei Hong’s eyes lit up sharply.

“Okay, I agree!” Wei Hong proclaimed.

There were glimpses of fear in the eyes of the other three, two were hesitant and therefore walked away from the table.

Meng Jiu smiled coldly and said.

“Deal the cards.”

The dealer opened up a new deck and shuffled it over and over again. When it was down to the last shuffle, Ye Lingchen suddenly yelled and slammed his hand on Meng Jiu’s table. “Hey, the Meng surname is pretty rare. And why are you named Jiu? Is that your real name? ”

Meng Jiu was taken aback. He glared coldly at Ye Lingchen and continued to direct his crimson gaze onto the shuffled cards.

“Lu Tianxiong, control your man!” Wei Hong snorted coldly.

“Hehe, is there something wrong with talking in the casino, Big Boss Wei? You’re being too much of a control freak.” Lu Tianxiong responded with a smile.

The first round’s cards were dealt!

The onlookers could not help but hold their breaths.

“Pass.”

Meng Jiu chose to fold immediately after receiving his cards, leaving only Ye Lingchen and the other person.

For the first round, Ye Lingchen won four million, while Meng Jiu lost one million and the other person lost three million.

The second round’s cards were dealt!

“Pass.”

It was Ye Lingchen’s turn to fold.

For the second round, Ye Lingchen lost one million, while Meng Jiu won three million and the other guy lost two million.

The third round’s cards were dealt!

“Pass!”

Ye Lingchen still chose to fold.

Meng Jiu frowned. His red pupils stared at Ye Lingchen.

“What’s wrong? Why do you care if I fold?” Ye Lingchen smiled slightly and shook his head. “My luck is just awful.”

In the third round, Meng Jiu won two million while Ye Lingchen lost one million. The third guy lost one million, losing everything in one resounding go.

“Man, your luck is bad too.” Ye Lingchen patted the man’s shoulder and comforted him. “Don’t worry too much and just make your exit. You really don’t belong in a casino.”

The man pursed his lips and was immediately escorted out.

During the shuffle, Ye Lingchen remembered the positions in the deck very clearly. According to the order in which the cards were dealt, the man was destined to lose throughout all the games. Either Ye Lingchen or Meng Jiu would get a win, but the man would never have a share of the spoils. Luck was special in that way.

Only Ye Lingchen and Meng Jiu were left in the fourth game.

Both sides remained quiet and the cards were dealt in silence.

The three flop cards were the Six of Spades, Ace of Spades, and Nine of Spades.

“Raise, one million!” Ye Lingchen threw the chips directly into the pot without looking at his cards.

Meng Jiu’s eyes narrowed sharply. For the first time since the round started, he picked up his hole cards from the table. His red eyes glanced across his cards—they were two Aces!

With one Ace on the table, it was enough for a three-of-a-kind!

He could make do with those three Aces!

Beside him, Wei Hong controlled his heartbeat to the best of his ability, but his eyelids still twitched. An ecstatic feeling was beginning to build up in his heart.

In that round, Ye Lingchen would lose unless he got a straight or a straight flush!

“Call!”

Meng Jiu’s said expressionlessly.

The fourth card dealt is the Ace of Hearts!

There are already a pair of Aces on the table, which meant that Meng Jiu had a four-of-a-kind!

In that case, only a straight flush was bigger than those four Aces.

“Five million!” Meng Jiu pushed the chips forward. “You dare to call?”

“Call!”

Ye Lingchen still did not look at his cards. His expression was plain and he did not look surprised.

The dealer dealt the fifth card—a Five of Spades!

Five of Spades, Six of Spades, Nine of Spades, and a pair of Aces were laid out on the table.

“All-in.” The corner of Ye Lingchen’s lips curled into a smile. His faint voice made everyone’s heart thump madly. Lu Hao looked at Ye Lingchen in disbelief and reminded softly, “Grandmaster Ye, you didn’t even see your hole cards.”

Without waiting for Ye Lingchen to speak, Lu Tianxiong had already helped Ye Lingchen push the chips forward. “Grandmaster Ye already said so. Let’s just follow him!”

“We have just as many chips. You might as well…go all-in?” Ye Lingchen looked over to Meng Jiu. “I wonder if you dare?”

Meng Jiu’s fixed his eyes on Ye Lingchen in an attempt to see through the kid’s thoughts. Wei Hong repeatedly clenched his fists and relaxed them—he was incredibly hesitant.

Four Aces could crush any other combination, but three of the cards on the table were spades. If Ye Lingchen’s hand was the Seven of Spades and the Eight of Spades, it would be a straight flush!

Ye Lingchen looked so certain. What could the cards be?

“Call!” Meng Jiu’s voice was hoarse as he pushed all his chips into the pot.

“You can remember cards too, right?” Meng Jiu suddenly asked Ye Lingchen. “Well, I don’t believe that you have a straight flush!”
