“Yep yep, let’s just come here next time,” Xing Wei echoed.
Xing Wei and Han Mengyu appeared more nervous than Zhai Yunsheng.
Yu Xi also spoke up: “Well, since he’s not at home, it’s best for us to come back another time. For today, let’s go and play some games.”
At this moment, the servant on the other side of the screen spoke up: “Wait for a moment, I will contact Mr. Goodman for you. I’ll see if he can make it back.”
Huh?
Han Mengyu, Xing Wei, and Yu Xi were stunned.
What was going on?
What did she mean by that? Wasn’t Mr. Goodman not available? Weren’t they meant to be shooed away? Why was she instead contacting Mr. Goodman and asking him if he could make it back?
Was the servant confused? Or did they mishear?
Whilst Han Mengyu and Xing Wei were staring at each other in confusion, the outermost iron gate of the Goodman Residence opened up.
A few westerners in suits came out.
“Hello Miss Jian, Mr. Goodman is currently not at home. We just contacted him. He will arrive in about fifteen minutes. If you don’t mind, please wait inside for a while.”
“Okay,” Jian Yiling replied.
When Han Mengyu, Xing Wei, and Yu Xi heard this, they became completely dumbfounded.
The Goodman family’s attitude was way too nice, right?
Han Mengyu whispered to Zhai Yunsheng: “Master Sheng, what’s going on here?”
“I don’t know,” Zhai Yunsheng replied. There was a playful smile on his face.
“Is this just a good tradition of the Goodman family? Or are we just lucky to be here today?” Xing Wei asked with a baffled expression on his face.
“Maybe common sense doesn’t apply here. After all, this is the Goodman family. It’s a rich and influential family recognized by everyone across the world.”
“Well, either way, our sister-in-law’s face is saved.”
Han Mengyu was just glad that Jian Yiling was not upset.
After entering the Goodman Residence, the five of them sat in the living room for roughly ten minutes.
After that, they met Mr. George Goodman.
He was an old man in his seventies.
George had a medium build that was not fat nor thin.
Despite his age, he had well-defined facial features.
George briefly swept his eyes over the five of them. Finally, he focused his attention on Jian Yiling.
“Miss Jian, did you come here to speak to me about something?”
“They want to speak to you,” Jian Yiling replied.
Only then did George redirect his attention to Zhai Yunsheng and the others.
Han Mengyu was a little unsure of how to respond.
George Goodman was a little too approachable, right?
He was very different from what Han Mengyu had originally imagined!
The four of them froze for a bit before they finally returned to their senses. After that, they began to talk to George Goodman about business matters.
Jian Yiling quietly sat beside them and listened to their conversation.
It was as though the whole thing had nothing to do with her.
Halfway through the conversation, she took out her phone and played with it.
After a while, George Goodman understood the intention of their visit. He said: “Don’t worry, I don’t want to start a conflict with you guys either. Let’s cooperate and profit together.”
After receiving George Goodman’s response, Han Mengyu and the others were still in disbelief.
Things were going way too smoothly right?
Then, George Goodman turned around to look at Jian Yiling again: “Miss Jian, is there anything else you want to talk about?”
