One room was prepared for if Jian Yiling gave birth to a baby boy while the other room was prepared for if Jian Yiling gave birth to a baby girl.
However, the pile of gifts, toys, and clothes in the baby girl’s room was much larger than the pile prepared for the baby boy’s room.
This was because other than Master Zhai, everyone in the Jian family contributed to the baby girl’s room.
This included the elders of the Jian family such as Grandma Jian and Grandpa Jian, all the Jian brothers, and even the youngest member of the Jian family, Jian Dan. They all assumed Jian Yiling’s baby would be a girl and gifted accordingly.
And thus, the room prepared for a baby girl was filled to the brim.
“By the way, A Sheng, have you thought of a name for my great-grandchild1?” Master Zhai asked as everyone sat together to drink tea after lunch.
“What do you mean by great-grandson? You should be saying great-granddaughter,” Grandpa Jian corrected Master Zhai.
“The term great-grandchild is collective! It includes great-granddaughters as well,” Master Zhai replied helplessly.
Grandma Jian paused for a moment before she suggested: “What about calling her Zhai Nannan1?”
Grandpa Jian immediately replied: “Old woman, why would you suggest such a name? Aren’t you from a scholarly family? Nannan is such an unsophisticated name. How could you possibly suggest that?”
When Grandma Jian heard this, she was not happy: “What are you saying? What’s wrong with the name Nannan? And by sophisticated, do you want our great-granddaughter’s name to have the characters violet, rain, daybreak1, or some other complicated word?
“Old woman, I didn’t say that. You’re just arguing against me for the sake of arguing!” Grandpa Jian replied with a grunt.
As Master Zhai listened to their conversation, he silently stood up and walked over to the window of the tea room. He looked out of the window and let out a long sigh.
“Ahh, dear wife, why did you leave me alone in this world? Even at this age, I have to watch other elderly couple’s public displays of affection.”
Upon hearing Master Zhai’s words, Grandpa Jian and Grandma Jian hastily shut up. However, they kept glaring at each other.
Jian Yiling turned around and asked Zhai Yunsheng: “A Sheng, do you have a name in mind?”
Zhai Yunsheng replied: “We can call him or her Zhai Erdan1.”
As soon as Zhai Yunsheng said this, Master Zhai, Grandma Jian, and Grandpa Jian looked at him in unison.
Zhai Erdan? How could he come up with such a name?
This was his son or daughter!
“Brat! How could you come up with such an unpleasant name?” Master Zhai scolded Zhai Yunsheng.
Zhai Yunsheng calmly answered: “He or she is Yiling’s child. Erdan is a good name.”
He put quite a bit of thought into this name.
On behalf of Zhai Yunsheng, Jian Yiling explained the rationale behind the name to Master Zhai, Grandma Jian, and Grandpa Jian. “As my name is Yiling, A Sheng is suggesting my baby’s name to be Erling1.”
Zhai Yunsheng added: “In addition, the name Yiling in binary equals two. Therefore, your baby is two’s egg.”
There were two explanations for this “meaningful” name.
Master Zhai, Grandma Jian, and Grandpa Jian looked at each other in shock and confusion.
They could not keep up with the thought process of Jian Yiling and Zhai Yunsheng.
Despite this, Grandma Jian exclaimed: “I don’t like this name no matter how meaningful it is!”
Master Zhai and Grandpa Jian nodded their heads in unison.
When it came to this matter, the three of them were united on one front.
Their great-grandchild was not going to be called Erdan!
“It’s not a nice name,” Jian Yiling also said. She didn’t like the name either.
“Then, let’s call him or her Erbao1.”
If the word ‘dan’ wasn’t okay, it could be changed to ‘bao’.
As Zhai Yunsheng’s tone was very casual, it didn’t seem like he put much thought into his future child’s name.
