Sword light and dagger glow intersected and in a blink of an eye, the seven Lamp Zombies fell to the ground. Lin Xi didn’t underestimate our strength, as long as we focused and didn’t make mistakes, we could solo 5-8 of them at once. At this moment, the moment they fell to the ground, spirits floated out from their lamps and turned into people that stood in front of us. A total of ten.
Some were guys and some were girls, some were old people, there were four year old children but their faces were covered in thick death energy.

“Are those people that left the town early okay?”

I frowned and looked at those souls leaving. Some passed through my body and only a bit of their consciousness was left, nothing else.

Lin Xi looked at me and became even more worried.

Further forwards, we cleared out batches of Lamp Zombies. We got close to the town and the experience we got was quite alot. However, the scenario quest was really depressed, every sentence they spoke made us worried about whether or not our target was still alive.
2 hours later, Lin Xi and I continued to push forwards and finally reached the entrance. We saw a bunch of vicious-looking zombies. After clearing them out, people flew out from their lamps. They looked like troops that stood tall.
“Young adventurer you are too late.” A middle aged soldier sighed, “We are all sick and nothing can save us. Our souls can’t be redeemed, we…”
I looked at his empty eyes, “Uncle do you know Ailan? Where is her home, where is she?”
“Ailan?”
He looked confused but suddenly he understood, “Oh, you are talking about that poor kid, she has been abandoned…”
“Why… Why abandon her?” Lin Xi asked.
He sighed, “On the third day of the plague, she had symptoms, her feet felt cold and white pus appeared on her body. Everyone said that she couldn’t be saved, so… Her parents abandoned her… They left on the 4th day and left Ailan here…”
“Why?”
Lin Xi frowned and her eyes were filled with rage.
“No why…”
The soldier said calmly, “Everyone wants to leave, her parents too, who will risk their lives…”

We went all out and roughly ten minutes later, all of them were killed. In the stacks of bodies, souls flew out and it was another group of soldiers. At the front, a spirit holding a crutch coughed. It was the mayor.
“Young man…”
He looked at us, “You are too late, Hengshan Town has fallen, Sir Li tried but he still failed. The troops are wiped out, you are too late…”
I frowned, “I know, we met Li Qiuyang.”
“Ah?”
The mayor was shocked, “You… Sir Li, how is he?”
“He already died.” I said solemnly.
“Ah!?”
The mayor’s body shook and his eyes were filled with sadness, “Our Hengshan Town, is still wiped out in the end… Sir Li, he fulfilled his promise and died in the role…”
Lin Xi walked forwards and said, “Mayor, we came to save Ailan, where is she, is she still alive?”

His eyes turned red, “Her parents abandoned her and left, haiz… After the people found her, no one dared to get close and just fed her from afar, but… Dimension Legion has attacked the town so we sent her to the granary in the north of the town, I don’t know if she is still alive, that poor child…”

I switched to the Paladin account and saint light landed on her but it didn’t do anything. Her lifebar remained at the edge and I couldn’t save her.

Little Ailan hugged two wooden pieces and on it was her parents’ names. Her consciousness was blur but she still placed them by her mouth and said softly, “Goodbye father, goodbye mother.”
