Yin Hua shook her head, “I don’t know if that paranoid man would do such a thing. He hasn’t bothered me for many years, so there should be no problem. On the other hand, Lu Jinyou is actually a good boy with great acting skills and a wonderful personality.”
“He has the blood of a paranoid; to what extent of a good guy can he be? I just discovered recently that I’m actually not that much better than my dad.”
Yin Hua suddenly raised her eyebrows and asked with interest, “What? What happened to you recently?”
Tong Yan immediately denied it, “Nothing.”
Tong Yukai didn’t want to participate in this conversation, but finally, he couldn’t help but ask, “What’s this got to do with me?”
Tong Yan denied again, “Nothing.”
Yin Hua stood up and walked towards the kitchen as she said to Tong Yan, “I’ll go to the kitchen to check things out. Duoduo and Grandma Xu are cooking for us, so I’ll be helping them out for a bit.”
In fact, Yin Hua didn’t know how to do anything. She was capable of breaking dishes even when she washed them, so her words were just a polite excuse to leave the room. She herself knew that she would probably exit the kitchen soon enough.
Tong Yan was uncomfortable with Tong Yukai’s stares, so he couldn’t help but be the one to break the silence, “Isn’t this because you crossed the blade and stole a lover(1)?”
(T/N: Used to describe a person who destroys the ongoing relationships of another by interfering. Usually the person would do anything to get their love interest)
“What do you mean I ‘crossed the blade and stole a lover’? I liked her first.”
“When did you start liking her?”
“About seven years old.”
“Aren’t you rather precocious?”
“Hmph,” Tong Yukai snorted disdainfully.
When Tong Yukai was seven years old, Yin Hua was only ten. It wasn’t likely that Tong Yukai planned to marry the most beautiful girl since he was a child, was it?
Tong Yan thought about it and felt that something was wrong, so he retorted, “It’s useless if you liked her first; she had a boyfriend.”
Tong Yukai didn’t want to talk to Tong Yan about this, but he didn’t want to be wrongfully blamed either, “I dated her before that, but we broke up. After that, I went to study abroad and her family went bankrupt during this period of time. By the time I came back she was already…”
“You…you went abroad in high school, right? You… Wow, today my knowledge about the world has definitely been enlightened,” Tong Yan was shocked. His father was so precocious as he asked again, “Why did you two break up? Did that have anything to do with Qiao Nian?”
“She thought I was naive and dumped me.”
“Oh,” Tong Yan began to laugh.
Xu Xinduo came out holding the dumplings and beckoned the two men in the living room to have dinner.
Yin Hua and Tong Yukai were in a hurry. Hence, she didn’t spend too much time preparing too many dishes. She cooked the frozen dumplings in the refrigerator and only made a few simple dishes.
After serving the food, Xu Xinduo pointed to Yin Hua, “That round one was wrapped by Tong Yan.”
Yin Hua exclaimed in a low voice, “Yanyan can make dumplings? How amazing.”
Tong Yukai sat down to eat the dumplings as Yin Hua introduced to Tong Yukai, “Yanyan doesn’t like having vinegar, but Duoduo likes it(2).”
(T/N: As before, ‘having vinegar’ is used to describe jealousy. So, replace that with the word jealous and there’s the double meaning)
Tong Yukai looked at the two children and nodded, but he did not understand what Yin Hua meant.
Yin Hua gave up completely and ate with her head lowered.
