The Lady’s Sickly Husband Chapter 23

Chapter 23 - Drama by a Unique Creep

Sister Zhao’s words made Mo Qianxue speechless, but she still responded with politeness, “Thanks for your kindness, but my husband and I have weak teeth, so take them back for your children and keep them from hunger.”

Their family must have solid teeth. It’d better to let them enjoy the buns. The buns that sister Zhao had given her last were thrown away by her to the yellow dog at the entrance of the village. It turned out that even the dog’s teeth were crashed by the buns and it was never able to eat it up.

Hearing Mo Qianxue’s refuse, sister Zhao instantly pretend to be crying, “Do you dislike the buns I make? Yet, I’m too poor to give you something better.”

Drama queen! Continue your play! Mo Qianxue sneered to herself.

She had already known the situation of her family from sister Fang. Though Zhao’s husband was a lazy idle person, she herself was a great calculator of living. Even if a wild goose flew by in the sky, she could manage to pull off some feathers from it.

“How could I mean that? It’s just that life is hard already, don’t waste food. This corn buns can keep people from hunger. Why not leave them for brother Zhao to take to his work place as lunch? Brother Zhao’s job must be very tiring.” She waited to see how the drama would continue.

Sister Zhao paused for a second in shock. If she really gave this kind of buns to brother Zhao as lunch, he would definitely divorce her.

Seeing that Mo Qianxue didn’t take over the buns, she put the bowl on the countertop, indicating that Mo must take the buns no matter what, “We still have a lot at home, don’t be too polite with me sis.”

Putting down the bowl, she turned and said, “I heard that the food you make is very delicious. My children really want to have a taste, so today I’m so brazen that I came here to learn from you so that I can make some for my children. Otherwise, they might say that Mrs. Ning is bad-hearted that both are her life-savers, but one is provided with a job and food while the other gets nothing.”

Nothing? What happened to the leg bone? The meat had flown away by itself?!

On the flip side, when she had begun to take tuition, in order to thank Zhao, she had made pancakes for sister Fang and more for especially Zhao just because she didn’t forget her good deed.

Those pancakes were her special dish, the flavor of which was mixed with eggs that made the pancakes soft and fragrant, a thousand times better than those corn buns!

Who was bad-hearted? Who was the one that had no conscience?!

Ning Shaoqing was waiting for the porridge in the room, so Mo Qianxue didn’t want to waste more time on this unique creep. She scooped a bowl of porridge and before leaving, pointed to the bowls on the countertop which contained some tofu, saying, “There is some tofu left. If you want it, just take it home. I have to go and take care of my husband, sorry.”

Mo Qianxue was going to the inner room, and sister Zhao had a little face left after all, so she didn’t follow her inside and just shouted to Mo Qianxue’s back, “Then…I don’t pretend to be polite with you. Tomorrow, I’m coming to help you and, by the way, learn how to make it. After I know how to make it, let’s see who dares to say that Mrs. Ning has no conscience.”

So this was her real intention.

Mo Qianxue stopped her step for a second. Death would find you if you ask for it! Originally she had no time to deal with her, but she herself asked for death.

Did she regard her as a pushover because she had been nice to her?

After Ning Shaoqing ate the porridge and Mo Qianxue went to the kitchen again, she was dumbfounded.

She clearly remembered that she had left for herself some porridge in the pot, but now the iron pot was empty and brighter as if being washed. In the big kitchen there were only two corn buns left on the naked smooth countertop, staring at her.

Fine! Very good! Zhao even didn’t leave a bowl for her.

With fury, Mo Qianxue slapped the two corn buns to the ground with one wave…

If she continued to be nice, next time Zhao would definitely take away the pot!

Because she had promised Baiyunju to provide three hundred kilograms of tofu every day, naturally she had to start the work earlier.

By the time when sister Zhao showed up, the tofu had been dipped with brine and begun to take form.

Sister Fang and Guihua were happily talking about Li Kaishi who had taken home in midnight from the mountain with a broken leg. They all agreed that he deserved that! Now Li Kaishi’s leg was completely broken that he had to depend on a walking stick forever.

All girls and women in the village were relieved…

Li Kaishi, with a broken leg, could never run again and thus form no threat to her.

Mo Qianxue listened to their conversation, praising in secrecy that Azhao was a quick doer and laughed with them.

The room full of laughter immediately cooled down when sister Zhao entered in.

Mo Qianxue didn’t even raise up her head when the woman came in and turned directly to check tofu, as if no one came in.

For someone who didn’t value her face, then just don’t give her any.

Sister Fang had heard Mo Qianxue talked about sister Zhao’s ‘tremendous achievement’, so naturally she ignored her either. Only sister Guihua who had no idea of that smiled and nodded at her.

Sister Zhao’s face was thicker than copper coins, so she didn’t care about the awkwardness in the air at all. Seeing that she had missed the key moment of tofu taking form, she thought that Mo Qianxue deliberately kept it secret from her, so she wanted to blame Mo for not waiting for her.

But when she got near Mo Qianxue, she saw a shining silver hairpin in her hair. Greediness instantly oozed out of her eyes.

The last several times when she dropped by had been night, and the dim light had forbidden her from noticing it.

“Mrs. Ning, this hairpin is really beautiful, can you lend it to me to wear for a few days?” As she spoke, she reached out to pull out the hairpin, determined to borrow it without giving back.

Mo Qianxue saw her leaning over, so she held the hairpin with one hand and stepped back with a sneer, “Right? My husband also said that I look good in it and that we would pass it on to descendants as a family treasure, only to daughters-in-law not to daughters.”

Pass it on to daughters-in-laws instead of daughters?

Sister Zhao drew back her hand in embarrassment. In a bad mood, she pulled a long face to Mo Qianxue, satirizing, “It seems that you indeed don’t like me. I just wanted to see it. No wonder many fellows say that you have no conscience. Shame on me that I should argue for you and said you were not that kind of person…”

“Which bad ass said that? Tell me a name, I’m going to question her!” Sister Fang had long regarded Mo Qianxue as her real sister, pulling Mo into her own camp for protection. Right now, her fury was fueled up, hardly to be suppressed.

“Sister Fang, is there anything to do with you? Don’t act as if she has bought you.”

“Mrs. Ning now is my maternal sister; her business is also mine…”

“Dear heaven, in just a few days of becoming a slave, now you already know how to defend your master…”

Sister Fang was also a straight-tempered woman, so hearing such insulting words, she sprinted over to tear her mouth.

Mo Qianxue feared that they might really have a fight, so she at once gave a look to sister Guihua, and she herself stopped sister Fang first while sister Guihua pulled away sister Zhao to outside.

Mo Qianxue appeased sister Fang for a while and then whispered in her ears. Others didn’t know what Mo said, but they saw sister Fang cursed “she deserve it” and her fury turned into laughter.

The ones that Baiyunju sent over to collect tofu were still Azhao and Xiaoqizi.

After collecting the tofu, Xiaoqizi put down a piece of beef and some herbs before turning to get on board the carriage and leave on a whip.

The beef and herbs were what Mo Qianxue asked Xiaoqizi to take over yesterday. Beef had mild nature, so she prepared to make beef soup for her husband along with the herbs which could help him restore original qi.
