He said his personal assistant was still learning work, and that she was more professional than he was, so she went with him.
Fu Ling was not going to leave his personal assistant idle, as he assigned another important work to him.
The business meeting with the investors was not until 6 pm in a hotel lounge, tight at the time to get off work.
I immediately it was time to leave, Fu Ling called Xiulan, asking her to go over to the parking lot to wait for him.
Quickly, Xiulan cleared her desk and picked up her bag to leave.
Some minutes later, Fu Ling came down to meet her. Pressing the button on his car key, his supports made a sound of unlocking, alerting her.
”Get in,” He said to her, as he reached for the driver’s side of the car
Without being told, Xiulan fastened her seatbelt after she got into her car, and picked up the document he threw in the backseat.
”Can I look at the contract?” Xiulan asked with a polite gaze.
”You already have it in your hands, what’s the use of asking for permission?” Fu Ling said as he shifted his gaze to her.
If she had asked for permission before picking the document, that would have been a different case.
Xiulan felt like knocking her head against the car window. It was out of habit that she did that.
When she used to work as his personal assistant, she could do that without his permission, but it looks like she has forgotten her place.
”Sorry,” She said and wanted to keep the document back, but he stopped her.
”Since you have picked it up already, you might as well, go through it.” Fu Ling said with her eyes on the road.
Since he had given her the permission, there was no need to keep it back, soon, she started flipping through the pages of the contract.
”Which job do you enjoy more? Being team leader or being my personal assistant?” Fu Ling asked curiously.
Xiulan stared at him in surprise because he asked that question out of the blue, and she wondered if he was that curious about her preference.
”Being a team leader is not easy because I have to oversee most of the work under my team and review them before approving and sending them out. Working as your personal assistant is also stressful, but it’s better than being a team leader as I’m used to it.”
”I see, so being my personal assistant it’s better. Keep up the good word in your department.” Fu Ling advised.
His response sounded as if he was punishing her after finding out her preference and snatching it away.
Xiulan did not understand his response but went back to reading the contract.
Just before they got to the hotel which was not far off, she arranged the contract in a folder and said, “It’s okay, but you will need to work on convincing them about the price.”
”That’s not a problem, I’m sure you can take care of it. Let’s see if you are still sharp as before.” Fu Ling said with a slight smile as he turned left, driving into the hotel’s premises.
”Sir, I would advise you to strike this deal yourself, I can’t be the reason you won’t get this, I already owe you a lot of money,” Xiulan said with a frown.
It’s not like she wanted to get into trouble. She couldn’t use herself as an experiment. If the deal doesn’t pull through, she didn’t even know what her fate will be.
Maybe, she might end up selling herself as his slave forever, and that would be horrible.
She still wanted to date and get married to…
Seeing how she blatantly revised him, he smiled and parked the car.
”Bring the contract with you,” He said as he stepped down from the car.
Xiulan quickly followed without wasting time.
Today, she wore a black gown that outlined her shape, but the jacket she put over her shoulders, helped to cover her back, and sides.
Her hair hung in a ponytail while simple makeup laid out on her face. With the nude-colored heels on her feet, she looked like an upcoming businesswoman.
Fu Ling’s outfit was a huge contrast from hers. He just wore a white shirt with a pair of jeans and sneakers on his feet.
He looked just like a youth.
Walking in together into the bustling lounge of the hotel, they maneuvered their way to the table of their business investors who were already sitting and waiting for them.
”Mr. Fu Ling, it’s good to see.” One of the men sitting, stood up to greet Fu Ling with a big smile on his face.
Fu Ling greeted him back, and also exchanged pleasantries with the older man next to him.
”I see that you came with someone.” The older man said, shifting his gaze to Xiulan who was standing quietly at the side.
”She is my Secretary.” Fu Ling replied with a polite smile before gesturing to Xiulan to sit next to him.
The three men went over a few bottles of alcohol while chatting, while Xiulan took some don’t drink while sitting quietly.
At short intervals, Xiulan would lean in to whisper the same words to him, “Sir, you are drinking too much.”
Fu Ling would nod in response and then go ahead to continue drinking with them. Finally, 3 hours later, they were drunk but managed to sign the contract with Xiulan’s help.
She was the only one amongst them who was still in her full senses.
With the help of a bartender, Xiulan was able to help their business partners, by sending them off to their home addresses through a cab.
As for Fu Ling, she had to help him herself. Luckily, he was heavily drunk that he had to rely on her full support to walk
