An Yibei gave the door a polite knock and a sonorous voice inside said, “Come in!”
He pushed the door open and stood in the doorway.
Director Tao was playing darts when An Yibei arrived, and was surprised to see the latter in his office. “Mr. An? To what do we owe this pleasure?”
An Yibei adjusted his glasses and gave Director Tao a detached smile. “I offered to buy Mr. Wei a cup of tea, but that heartless guy turned me down. I had no choice but to come to you instead.”
Director Tao forced a smile. “Well… do sit down. I’ll ask my secretary to bring us some tea.”
He dialed a number on the landline and left a few instructions. Looking up, he saw that An Yibei had already sat down and was tapping his fingers lightly on the black table. “Director Tao, I see that you’ve been quite free lately.”
“I’m doing alright,” Director Tao said in a noncommittal tone. “Thousand Island’s business is booming. Mr. An, you’re an excellent businessman.”
“Is that congratulations or sarcasm?” An Yibei raised an eyebrow.
“Congratulations, of course!” Director Tao laughed uneasily.
An Yibei suddenly rose to his feet and leaned forward with his palms flat on the table, staring at Director Tao with an impassive face. Director Tao was completely overwhelmed by An Yibei’s imposing manner and was intimidated.
His knees buckled and Director Tao fell back down in his big office chair.
“Why are you so nervous, Director Tao? I wanted to thank you, that’s all.” An Yibei gave him a knowing smile. “Apart from your congratulations, I’d also like to thank you for hiring an employee I just fired and viciously attacking my girlfriend…”
An Yibei’s voice grew colder as he spoke, until if felt like it could freeze the air.
Director Tao pursed his lips. “Mr. An, I’m sure there’s been a misunderstanding…”

After that, he opened the door and promptly left before Director Tao could say another word.
Yet to recover from the fright, Director pondered for a while before dialing the number of his confidant. “Stop collecting information on An Yibei and his girlfriend.”
“But didn’t you leave us instructions to dig up dirt on him whenever we can?”
“No, we’re not doing it anymore. We don’t want a man like that as our enemy. The guy is so formidable.”
