The old man went to the living room and instantly saw a black-haired young man with brown eyes was sitting near the door.
The young man had an exceptionally handsome face, might be the most handsome guy he had ever seen.
The lad was sitting while crossing his legs and somehow…there was a book on his hand. It was one of the books near his place.
The sunlight shone upon his face, highlighting his good look.
So when Bíng Huo caught up with her grandfather, the sight she saw was Xi Xue looking cool as he read a book.
The guy looked so serious that he didn’t even notice others’ presence at the room. Only when they were 3 meters away from him he noticed them.
Xi Xue instantly looked up. He put down the book in his hand and asked, “Hey, senior brother- uh, who is this?” Xi Xue glanced at Bíng Huo as he pointed at Bíng Yan, the girl’s grandfather.
“Ah, this is-”
“I’m her grandpa.” Bíng Yan suddenly spoke. He looked down at Xi Xue while rubbing his long beard. “Are you the one who wants to enter our academy?”
Xi Xue frowned, confused but he still nodded. “Yes, that’s me.”
’So this old man is Bíng Huo grandpa? But why is he here- wait. Bíng Huo brings me here to meet her grandpa??’
Xi Xue smiled stiffly yet inside, he was screaming and rolling on the floor.
’I don’t know why Bíng Huo did this ah!!’
Seeing Xi Xue only stared blankly at the two, Bíng Huo hurriedly helped him. “Grandpa, just state your business with Xi Xue. Look, he’s scared.”
Bíng Huo sat next to Xi Xue and patted the back of his hand. “Don’t worry, grandpa is kind,” she suddenly whispered.
Xi Xue could only nod and stared at the old man scanning him from head to toe. He looked as if he was waiting to pick up a disciple or something.
“Hmm, how old are you?” Bíng Yan suddenly asked out of the blue.
Xi Xue gulped and glanced at Bíng Huo with confused eyes. He whispered, “Why you bring me here-”
“To get you a fast pass to enter the academy, ah! Now answer.” Bíng Huo nudged Xi Xue using her elbow.
Hearing this, Xi Xue hurriedly stood up and bowed politely. He cupped his hand and spoke, “I’m 300- I mean 18 years old this year.” The young man smiled sweetly.
’I’m actually already old but my appearance stays 18 forever so yeah, I’m not lying.’ He thought to himself.
“18!” The old man gasped and nodded in satisfaction. “I heard that you are the one taming that high-ranked beast for my granddaughter?” he asked again.
Xi Xue glanced at the white owl on Bíng Huo’s shoulder and nodded. “Yes, it is me.”
Hearing the truth straight from the young man’s mouth, the old man’s eyes brightened. His face flushed a bit yet he kept his calm.
“I can immediately accept you to our school but I think we need a test for you.” The old man walked to the door and slides it open.
“Follow me,” he said without looking back.
Xi Xue blinked again and looked at Bíng Huo with confusion. “Who is your grandpa? Why he said-”
“He is the current headmaster of this academy, ah! Hurry, follow him!” Bíng Huo grabbed Xi Xue’s hand and dragged him with her, as usual.
“If you want to be accepted without having to do several tests, this is your chance!” she said again as she brought the guy to a mini forest near the building they visited before.
The smell of grass and nature instantly struck Xi Xue’s sensitive nose. The mild wind of the spring blew his hair, caressing his skin.
His eyesight was instantly filled with greens everywhere. There were some colourful plants but the number could be counted by finger.
The forest was just like the one near the academy but this one was much smaller. It looked like a huge garden instead of a forest.
“What am I going to do?” Xi Xue whispered to Bíng Huo as he stared at Bíng Yan’s back, heading toward the centre of the garden.
“I think grandpa want to see your taming skill,” Bíng Huo answered. “See there, there are a lot of beasts in a cage.” Bíng Huo pointed at the row of cage around the garden.
Once they arrived at the centre, the sight of these beasts came into view.
They had just stepped into the pink grass beneath when the roar of the beasts ’welcomed’ them.
GRRRR! GRAOOO!! KAAAK!!
Various beast from every type roared at the same time. They started to bang their head to the cage. The ground shook, the cage trembled yet it didn’t break.
Underneath the cage, one could see so many arrays pattern, sealing the power of the beast by half.
“As you can see, these beasts are all wild.” The old man stopped several meters away from the circle of cages surrounding him and turned around.
“We caught them using sleeping drugs just to tame them later but you see, these beasts are hard to tame,” he continued.
Xi Xue squinted his eyes. The roar of the beasts sounded like a call for help.
His blood boiled. “Just why would you-”
“Now, now. I want to see if you can tame them without harming them.” The old man’s words stunned the little vampire.
“What? Taming without harming?” Xi Xue gasped.
’Usually, it’s impossible! But…I can. My mistress also could do it…’
“Yes, I don’t want to harm these beasts.” The old man nodded.
’Ehhh that’s weird!’
