Today was the day of the expedition and the team would depart in no minute.
“Have you prepared?” Mao Mao asked Fen Wén as he tidied up his documents.
“I have prepared well, master, ” Fen Wén nodded respectfully.
She had packed a lot of things in her spatial ring so yes, her preparation was complete.
“Good to know that, oh right, you will be riding the same carriage as me, is that okay?” Mao Mao wiped his forehead right after he finished tidying up the documents.
He looked at Fen Wén with a questioning look.
Startled, Fen Wén couldn’t respond in time. The girl clenched her teeth and answered, “Y-yes if master permits me then…” she paused, “It’s alright.”
’Alright, your ass!!’ Fen Wén thought while smiling from ear to ear. The girl had the urge to punch Mao Mao but she held back her urge by keep smiling.
How could a maidservant like her ride in the same carriage as the country’s prime minister?? Wasn’t that improper??
Noticing Fen Wén’s trembling hand despite having a smile on her face, Mao Mao hurriedly reassured, “We won’t be alone in the carriage…”
The young man thought that Fen Wén looked nervous because she thought they would be alone in the carriage.
“There’s someone else that will join our carriage, she’s a girl of your age so you won’t need to worry, okay?”
Fen Wén’s heart tightened all of sudden. Her ears felt hot at the moment just because Mao Mao said something.
’There will be another girl with us?’ Fen Wén couldn’t help but ponder. The girl should be someone with high status to ride with Mao Mao.
Then won’t that become more awkward than being alone with Mao Mao??
Fen Wén didn’t know whether to laugh or cry so she just nodded, “Yes, master, thank you for your consideration….”
Fen Wén hides her displeasure very well this time that Mao Mao didn’t notice it at all. He sighed in relief with Fen Wén’s answer.
’Now she won’t feel nervous since she will have a friend of her age.’ Mao Mao thought.
Just like that, the two of them tidied up the office since it would be left for more than a month. After they finished, they went to the palace yard where rows of carriages were waiting for them.
Fen Wén had just stepped outside the palace building and her sight were filled with numerous people wearing colourful clothes.
On her left, there’s a group of obvious nobles only as their attire were all lavish. On her right, she saw knights, soldiers and a group of servants talking to each other.
In the middle of these groups were twenty or more carriage made of the finest wood. Each carriage was engraved with different household’s emblem.
One could easily distinguish which carriage belonged to which family.
“That…” Fen Wé trailed off as she looked up at Mao Mao who was standing beside her. The girl slightly bit her lips as sweat began to wet her palms.
She didn’t expect the expedition team to be this large. The number of people joining even fully filled the palace yard!
The palace yard that could attain all knights, guards and soldiers of the kingdom was now filled by nobles, carriages and the escorts.
Mao Mao was scanning his surrounding when he heard Fen Wén’s faint mumble. The young man subconsciously looked down and saw Fen Wén was looking at him with watery eyes.
Fear and anxiety were written all over her face. Her eyebrows were knitted and her face was slightly pale.
“What’s wrong?” Mao Mao asked worriedly. The man leaned over to check Fen Wén’s condition when the girl shook her head and took a step back.
“N-no…I was just shocked…” Fen Wén lowered her head refusing to look at Mao Mao.
She could felt several people eyes stabbing her back. It must be from the side of the escorts team as well as the nobles.
After all, she was standing next to the kingdom’s prime minister!
Sighing, Mao Mao casually stretched his hand and patted Fen Wén on her head, “I told you not to worry- or being watched stressed you?”
Mao Mao threw his gaze over the nobles and the escorts who were silently watching them. The young man squinted his eyes and immediately, a suffocating aura filled the yard.
The nobles all flinched while the escorts immediately averted their eyes.
They forgot that even though the boy was still young and wasn’t even a mythological beast, he was the only one who could face their tyrannical emperor.
Of course, he won’t be as simple as they thought!
The nobles didn’t really feel pressured but staring at that pair of yin and yang eyes truly send a shiver down their spine.
Not wanting to carelessly provoke the young prime minister, the nobles pretended to look somewhere else leaving only the younger nobles staring at Mao Mao.
The one staring would, of course, be the young girls being love-struck seeing Mao Mao’s appearance.
Some of them bashfully glanced at the young man while the rest squealed quietly among themselves. Even though Mao Mao was far away from their place, it didn’t hinder them from fangirling over him.
“No one will stare at you anymore.” Mao Mao suddenly spoke. He grabbed Fen Wén’s wrist and softly dragged her to the centre of the palace yard, instantly burdened the girl.
“M-master??” Fen Wén stared in disbelief. She saw the young man in front of her pulled her without caring that his hand was currently holding her wrist.
!! Why so sudden??
