“That would be impossible!”
President Tan’s refusal was immediate and final.
He had originally asked Tan Jianto book the entire flight and even opted to shoulder all the expenses. And yet, the airline staff had pleaded with him, saying that someone was desperate to be on the same flight.
He was already being considerate enough to allow them to fly with him.
Now, it seemed as though these ingrates wanted to demand an upgrade. He refused to give another inch. If nothing else, he didn’t want to be in the same room as Teacher Zhang.
It was bad enough that they were confined in such a limited space for a period of time; the man had even brought such troublesome people with him!
“It is already out of my kindness and generosity that you are even able to travel to Beijing on this flight, and now you want to intrude in our space? Are you never satisfied with what you are given? I have no reason to grant you any more favors than I already have.”
His words were like a thousand daggers that pierced through Yao Ran’s heart.
As soon as he finished speaking, President Tanleaned back against his seat and closed his eyes. He was done talking to her.
Yao Ran gritted her teeth. It seemed that she couldn’t count onPresident Tanthis time. She promptly turned her gaze toYao Tang.
“Sister, Mom is over there. Don’t you pity her for what she has to endure? We might not be close, but surely, you still feel some sympathy for your blood relatives?”
In her mind, she questioned why she had to bear the brunt of Qin Man’s anger. She found it unfair howYao Tangwas here, enjoying herself, while she had to suffer the dreadful woman’s temper.
Yao Tang slowly raised her head and drawled, “Are we even related to each other?”
Yao Ran flushed with rage and mortification.
She raised a finger and pointed it at Yao Tang, but then she saw the flight attendant frowning in their direction. She instantly put down her hand, not wanting to alert the flight attendant about the truth of the situation.
“Since you’ve clearly decided to be callous, then I have nothing more to say, Sister. I sure hope your good fortune lasts.”
With a final glare and roll of her eyes, Yao Ranturned away and stomped out of the cabin.
When she arrived at the Economy Class, she realized that Teacher Zhanghad already woken up. In fact, he was staring at her as soon as she walked through the curtains separating the cabins.
“What were you doing there?” he asked when she passed by his seat.
He didn’t know what reason Yao Rancould possibly have to be in the First Class cabin. There were only three people there—President Tan, his apprentice, and a young man who bore a striking resemblance to him, probably his son.
Yao Ran had no business with those people. Was something else going on that he didn’t know about?
“The girl with President Tan is my cousin,” she responded meekly. “She is my Second Uncle’s daughter. I just went over to say hello.”
Cousin? Teacher Zhanghad just woken up and was understandably bewildered by what he had heard.
All he knew was that, that girl had gone so far as to threaten him when he had tried to plead with President Tanto seek justice forYao Ran.
What a vicious girl she was.
But the more he thought about it, Teacher Zhang began to remember thatYao Ran’s chances of participating in the assessment had been destroyed because of her cousin.
He eventually had to beg a lot of people in a bid to rescind the decision.
So, this girl who had no manners nor respect for her elders was Ranran’s cousin.Teacher Zhangfiled the information away in his head.
“Your cousin, huh?” he scoffed, his mood darkening.
When he looked up, he noticed that Yao Ran’s eyes were red, and there were tear stains on her cheeks.
“Did she bully you again?” he demanded.
That girl really had no limits! She just acted lawlessly everywhere she went.
Yao Ran bit her lower lip and shook her head. “It’s all right. I’m fine. I just accidentally tripped on my way here.”
But of course, Teacher Zhangknew that she wasn’t telling the truth. He just didn’t know the extent of her lies. “Tell me the truth. What exactly happened over there?”
Yao Ran said nothing and continued to act pitiful.
When she still remained silent after a while, Teacher Zhangsighed. He felt sorry for the girl.
Yao Ran was smart and talented, but her kind personality always made her an easy target for bullies.
“Just tell me what happened. I won’t do anything, so you have nothing to worry about.”
When she heard this, Yao Ranfinally looked a little more courageous. “At first, I wanted to check on you,” she said slowly. “But I saw that you were fast asleep. I was just worried you might catch a cold, so I went to the First Class Cabin to look forPresident Tanand try asking him for a favor.”
