“Cowards!”
The first man spat out.
The burly man only snorted and didn’t speak again.
Yao Yan watched their bickering, his eyes flashing coldly. Despite his wound, he remained calm and levelheaded.
“I see that you are indeed cowards,” he said to his enemies. “But it doesn’t matter. Know that whatever you do, my mean will fight until the very last one of us dies!”
His voice rang out and caused a buzz among his opponents. They discussed among themselves in hushed whispers.
Did Yao Yan’s team have some trump card they were unaware of? Or was it that they were counting for backup to arrive?
Why were they unfazed even though the odds weren’t in their favor?
Bai Jing, who stood beside Yao Yan, squared his shoulders and said, “Listen up, you hooligans! We of the Search Division will defend our Young Master Yao to the death. If you want to die, then come at us!”
His words echoed Yao Yan’s earlier bravado.
Once again, their enemies pondered this reaction and began to doubt their positions.
If Yao Yan’s team really had a trump card, then whoever charged at them first would definitely be the first to get eliminated.
On the other hand, however, if their ranks were depleted, then that meant there would be more loot to share among those who were left.
But first, they must ensure that they were among the survivors.
“Let the gang go first. They’re the ones who have something to settle with Yao Yan in the first place.”
“No way! We won’t let you take advantage of our gang and reap the rewards for the resources we put in. You guys should go first!”
“Well, if you don’t want to go first, then we won’t, either!”
“Why don’t we just attack all at once? There won’t be much work after this, anyway. Once we kill Young Master Yao, his men will follow soon enough.”
“You expect us to attack together? Then who will take the vanguard, and who will be at the rear? Or do you want us to take turns in charging forward? Ridiculous!”
“Stop wasting time and seize this opportunity! We must destroy them once and for all. If they escape, everything we’ve worked for will be in vain!”
The smugglers continued to argue among themselves and paid no attention to the Search Division.
Yu Chen bristled at his spot behind the bushes.
It irked him how these foreigners flaunted their might in his homeland. He was itching to teach them a lesson.
In this scenario, the Search Division represented their country’s last line of defense.
If they were defeated, it was as good as having their country’s honor trampled beneath these illegal immigrants’ feet.
Before he even knew what he was doing, Yu Chen let out a furious roar.
“You bastards! I, Yu Chen, am finally here! I will never let the Search Division die at your hands! Come at me if you have guts! You shall suffer my wrath!”
He couldn’t hold his rage and indignation any longer.
To think that these thugs had dared to act so arrogant in someone else’s turf… Did they believe that no one would go against them?
As a young master of the Yu family, he naturally had to uphold the honor of their name.
He couldn’t just stand by and let thieves and trespassers desecrate the place he called home.
The smugglers turned in Yu Chen’s direction, their eyes wide and alert. Panic slowly washed over them. They thought that the Search Division’s reinforcements had finally arrived.
At this point, there was no telling which side would emerge as the victor.
They strained their ears, but they heard no one approaching.
But then, in the next second, a lanky man walked out of the nearby shrubbery, his face red with fury. He did look imposing, despite his lean frame.
They looked a little farther, but only saw a young girl standing a few feet behind him.
The smugglers waited for some time before they realized that no one else was coming. It was just these two.
“Go back where you came from, Little Brat!” the burly man called out as he waved his gun in the air.
“This is no place for you. Hurry and get lost, or I’ll shoot you dead.”
He couldn’t care less about these two brats.
In truth, he thought that shooting them would just be a waste of his bullets. He might as well chase them away instead of creating an additional bloody mess.
Yu Chen was livid. He felt belittled and humiliated.
He had always been regarded as the hope of the Yu clan wherever he went. He was the only genius among the younger generation in their family, yet he had to suffer these insults from a foreign criminal.
He would not stand for this!
