“What’s going on? Did he see a ghost?”
Bai Jing didn’t respond as he stared at his empty palm, to where the meteorite was supposed to be.
The people around him looked at each other. They also didn’t know what had happened as they stared at his empty hand.
How could it have disappeared?
What happened?
For a moment, no one in the forest said a word. There were a few officers on Yao Yan’s side who were silently sizing up the people standing opposite to them. A trace of doubt appeared in their eyes.
However, no one dared to say a thing.
“It’s not…”
Feeling their cool gazes, Qin Hao was the first one to speak out, “What are you staring at? Do you think we’re the ones who had stolen the meteorite?”
Silence.
Bai Jing pursed his lips. It seemed that he was also thinking about this possibility.
From the minute they met this group of people, they knew that they were also interested in the meteorite. However, could they have taken it this readily?
But how?
But if there really was a person behind it, then wouldn’t they be the first suspects?
After all, they wouldn’t have taken a stroll down the desolate forest for nothing. They were obviously looking for the meteorite. While they appeared to be quite giving, they could have another plan playing in their mind.
Yao Yan turned to Cheng Yan, and he didn’t have any intention of hiding his suspicions.
It was obvious that he didn’t believe him at all.
Noticing Yao Yan’s sharp gaze, Cheng Yan was also deep in thought.
He didn’t really pay much attention to their actions.
Qin Hao, however, was more than furious.
“If we really wanted to take it, then we wouldn’t have pretended to give it to you! Who knows? Maybe you’re the ones to stage this to frame us?”
“Then everyone here should be a suspect, right?”
A cold light flashed in Yao Tang’s eyes.
Without another word, she lowered her hand and took out a dagger from her sleeve. She immediately reassembled it again, and soon enough, her blade now took shape of a silver compass.
In the compass, there was a needle pointing south.
“Ding!”
When no one was paying attention, she pressed the button of the silver device. A sharp sound echoed across the perimeters, but it was a sound that no other human could hear.
Before they took notice, the forest began to change its appearance.
The mountain peak behind them had completely disappeared, and so did the tall trees that had towered over them. The grasslands darkened and wilted, and the ground beneath their feet had also changed color.
“What happened?”
The man with a knife suddenly retreated. Looking around at his environment, he didn’t know what ha happened.
How could it have changed?
And not so far away, they could see the mist lingering around.
Had they all dreamed the same dream?
“It’s an illusion! Quickly! Spread out!”
Bai Jing saw through the mist in a single glance and waved to his people in attendance.
Illusion?
The existence of this level of illusion would require an array master.
Array masters had always been a mysterious occupation in modern times. While many people had seen it in magazines, it was a secret not spread to outsiders, in fear of being discovered.
But now, they were witnesses to this illusion.
There must be an array master nearby!
Could it be that the array master had wanted the meteorite?
A lingering fear spread across their hearts.
If they had not discovered the location of the array, then they would’ve continued to fight over the disappearance of the meteorite. They would’ve fought each other to the deaths.
They must’ve fallen into someone else’s trap!
Bai Jing cupped his hands toward Qin Hao in apology.
However, the man simply waved his hand in response.
Between them, there was a third group hiding in the forest, secretly taking advantage of their situation!
