“Hello.”
Bai Jing waved his fan twice as if he was saying hello. “I don’t know if you’ve heard about me, but I would like to formally introduce myself. I’m Bai Jing, and I do advise you to hand it over now, before you regret it.”
He emphasized the word “regret”.
The smile in his lips didn’t reach his eyes.
Some might even compare him to a tiger on the prowl.
The person on the ground trembled. His face paled and he continued to stare at his palms. The mere thought of being confronted by Bai Jing was bad enough, but for him to witness it like this…
“Well, do you want me to help you?” Bai Jing questioned.
“No…I’ll take it out.”
The man closed his eyes and took the thing out from his bag as if he had already accepted his fate.
There in his palm was a small stone. While it appeared quite grey and ashy on the outside, absolutely nobody minded.
After all, they knew the significance of this stone.
“It’s the meteorite,” one of the staff members whispered in Yao Yan’s ear. “The equipment already recognized its energy fluctuations. It really is the meteorite.”
It was the meteorite that everyone was fighting for.
The man lowered his head. Just then, a thought crossed his mind and a small smile made its way into his lips. “I can hand over this meteorite,” he slowly said. “But who will I hand it over to?”
The question was clever.
What appeared to be a curious question was intended to sew discord between the two sides.
If they were to fight about it, then he’d be able to benefit from this conflict. This would be a good plan. He might even be given a chance to escape.
“Oh?”
Bai Jing, intrigued by this question, turned to look at Cheng Yan.
Cheng Yan, however, simply waved his hand in response.
“There’s no need to think about it,” he said. “The meteorite naturally belongs to the country, so it should be brought back by the search team. We shouldn’t interfere any further.”
Without any hesitation, he motioned for the man to hand it over to Bai Jing and Yao Yan.
Obviously, this answer had managed to surprise the man on the ground. He never thought that the man would hand over the meteorite so willingly.
As he handed over the meteorite, he was about to make a run for it, but Yao Yan was faster.
Within seconds, a sharp arrow had already pierced through the man’s heart. The other men simply shrugged in response, as if they were already used to such a scene.
“Why are you here?” Cheng Yan stepped over to Yao Tang.
“I went for a walk.”
Yao Yan, who was standing at the side, slowly sighed. It seemed that he had to teach Yao Tang more things in the future.
For example, she didn’t know how to lie!
Who would walk all the way here?
Besides, ever since the earthquake, Lingyun Peak had been sealed off a long time ago. There wouldn’t be an opportunity for her to enter.
Faced with such an obvious lie, Cheng Yan nodded in disbelief. He stretched out his hand and handed her a few packets of candies. “Replenish your strength,” he stated, not wanting to question any further.
From afar, they appeared to be a good match.
Yao Yan couldn’t help but frown.
It seemed that he still hadn’t settled this matter with him yet. He just had his little sister, and already, someone was trying to take her away. Wasn’t his presence giving her more trouble?
“Young Master Cheng is such a busy man,” he said loudly. “What brings you here?”
Yao Yan forced a smile as he squeezed in between the two of them. Cheng Yanwas forcefully pushed to the side, and met with Yao Yan’s steely gaze.
“We wanted to go for a walk.”
Qin Hao was at a loss for words. Did his friend also not know how to lie?
The city was kilometers away from here?
Also, the famed Young Master Yao was standing in front of him. Who’d dare lie to him?
Bai Jing ignored their conversation and instead walked toward the man on the ground.
He glanced at the stone in his fist.
Obtaining the meteorite was one of the objectives of this mission. Now that he had finally been able to acquire it, his mission was considered half-completed.
He’d have to investigate these foreigners later on.
Suddenly, a fog rose, and their surroundings had become hazy.
By the time Bai Jing had reacted, he looked at his palm to see that the meteorite had disappeared.
“Who is it?” he demanded.
The smile on his face was wiped clean as he glared at the mist. “Come out!”
