After returning to the car, Lin Jiage first started the car. After turning on the heater, he went to the trunk and took two bottles of water. He unscrewed the cap of one of the bottles before handing it over to Shi Yao.
Shi Yao thanked him before taking the water.
After sitting in the car for a while, Lin Jiage pondered for a moment before asking, “Did something… Happen that made you unhappy?”
Shi Yao didn’t say a word.
But through her eyes and eyebrows, Lin jiage could tell that she seemed to have suffered some sort of grievance. Even though his heart ached for her, he didn’t insist on asking her about the situation.
The car immediately fell into silence.
Lin Jiage didn’t know how long he had been quietly accompanying Shi Yao in the car, but he couldn’t bear to see Shi Yao remain silent for so long. Thus, he fell into deep thought, and he suddenly thought of her favorite food.., thus, he broke the silence in the car and asked, “Do you want to have some supper?”
Shi Yao still didn’t say a word.
Lin Jiage didn’t mind at all. “I know a place that makes kebabs at night until two in the morning. They’re really delicious.”
Shi Yao remained silent.
Lin jiage patiently continued, “If you don’t like kebabs, how about crayfish?”
“Spicy Hot Soup?”
“Denim rice noodles?”
“It doesn’t seem like it’s too late. It’s only been a few hours since dinner. Are you still hungry?”
“I think so. Let’s wait for a while then… let me know when you’re hungry, and I’ll bring you to eat…”
Hearing Lin Jiage muttering to himself for so long, Shi Yao suddenly burst into tears.
He was trying to cheer her up, so how did he manage to make her cry instead?

Fortunately, Shi Yao didn’t cry for too long, and it didn’t take long for her tears to stop.
Lin jiage heaved a long sigh of relief as though he had just escaped death.
Shi Yao, who had caught his reaction, felt her eyes turn sour once more. However, this time, she didn’t cry.
As he had tried to coax her earlier, he had ended up coaxing her into tears instead. As such, Lin Jiage didn’t dare to open his mouth anymore.
It was exceptionally quiet in the car.
It wasn’t until late at night that Shi Yao sneaked a glance at Lin Jiage. Seeing that the boy was still looking at her nervously, her heart suddenly softened.
She pursed her lips slightly, and after a moment, she finally spoke up, “My dad and my mom, they… they’re getting a divorce…”
