She ran away because she worried subconsciously that Gu Jiangxin would snap.
Had he learned that she was Ink Painting Guru and he wasn’t able to a painting of hers. What if he lost self-control? How was this roomful of grandmas and grandps be able to stop a man in his prime?
She couldn’t possibly go head-to-head with him right now.
She rubbed her stomach and quickly looked for a place to sit. She mulled over whether it was now time to text the boss for help.
“You are pregnant?!”
Gao Xiu-e, looking at how Gu Shishi was acting, figured it out all of a sudden.
Gu Shishi’s face turned redder and she nodded.
“Do you not feel well? We should be calling a doctor then. Why did you run in here? There are only paintbrushes and ink in this room. There is no bed to lie down on.”
Gao Xiu-e quickly came over and held her hand.
“Don’t worry. Lao Qi outside is a doctor. I will have him come and check on you.”
“Grandma Gao, I am fine. It’s the person who just arrived…”
Gu Shishi had no discomfort whatsoever. She had no choice but to tell Grandma Gao the reasons she decided to pre-emptively hid away.
It didn’t take long. She was able to tell the entire story in a few sentences.

All of a sudden, everyone in the room outside who had looked at their cellphone immediately started looking at Gu Jiangxin in a very unfriendly manner.
And those who had not yet read the text were instructed by the others to read them.
All of a sudden, the atmosphere on the entire second floor turned very bizarre.
Old people are usually very protective.
Especially those in any sort of organization.
When Huang Chuan saw the message, he almost lost control of himself and kicked Gu Jiangxin out that very instant.
“Boss Gu, you should go. We don’t sell any paintings here.”
“Mr. Huang Chuan. Do you still remember me? We met at the exhibition last time…” said Boss Zhou, who accompanied Gu Jiangxin, with a smile.
He hasn’t even finished his sentence when Huang Chuan waved his hand impatiently, “No, I don’t remember! I’m an old man! How could I possibly remember all that?!”
Boss Zhou felt very embarrassed right away.
Gu Jiangxin felt even worse. He had never been so embarrassed.
“Lao Huang, I have been respectful to you because you are an elderly artist. But haven’t you been a little bit rude? Anyone that comes across your door is a guest. Shouldn’t you show me basic courtesy even if you don’t want to do business with us?”
Boss Zhou felt very awkward as well.
Gu Jiangxin’s face had turned completely black. “Old President Huang, you might not be aware of who this property belongs to. Over the years, we have sacrificed a lot of profits in order to support government-sponsored activities. The market rate for this location is 50,000 yuan a month.”
Gu Jiangxin only noticed that after he had arrived there.
They have rented this building to the government 20 years ago and had only raised the rent three times since then.
