Rise of Humanity Chapter 638

Chapter 637 - The Abyss

Qiu Jin’er nodded. Other than the godly spirits, she tried nearly every delicacy available in Hell. She even plundered and stored tonnes of food in her Yuan Shen secret realms.

However, even the food she stored fell victim to her as she couldn’t really stop her mouth from munching. Thus, she could only keep asking for more food from the officers.

As a result, her liking for food was now widely known throughout Hell. All kinds of delicacies were served for her, some even cooked their mounts just to please the gluttonous Hell Overseer.

Qiu Jin’er had so much fun and nearly forgot the fact that she was a fake Hell Overseer.

Some of the Hell guardians had even killed their beloved mounts just to please me. If I am revealed to be a fake Hell Overseer, they will definitely not let me go easily. Senior martial brother is right, we need to leave as soon as possible!

After they rescue the ‘bad guy’ Bi and An requested for, their trip to Hell would be completed, and they would be able to leave by then.

Rays flashed across his eyes, he asked one of the officers to summon Lan Si God, then he asked, “Is the demon god that devoured millions of souls still here?”

As the Hell Overseers’ first and only follower, Lan Si God proclaimed himself as Zhong Yue and Qiu Jin’er cronies, and was thus well-treated by the other Hell guardians.

Upon hearing Zhong Yue, Lan Si God quickly took out the demon god’s soul as he answered humbly, “Here.”

Zhong Yue nodded, “I will personally see the sinner into the Abyss and imprison him for eternity!”

The Hell officer immediately laughed, “Such a small matter, there’s no need to trouble the great emissary! The brothers can do it for you, dear emissary.”

Zhong Yue lightly shook his head, an expression like a smile radiated across his face and he asked, “Oh? Do you really think so?”

The Hell officer was puzzled, he was just simply flattering Zhong Yue, but who knew Zhong Yue would retort sternly.

Zhong Yue gave a cold hum, “How do you think I should return to the higher-ups without any achievements? Prosecuting and sentencing this demon god to the Abyss is the meritorious service I have prepared for myself. If you or your brothers are the ones that did it, then is this your meritorious service or mine?”

Cold sweat burst out of the Hell officer’s forehead, he shivered in fear and abruptly, he said, “Then, let the humble one lead the way for the great emissaries.”

“Well then, do your job.” Zhong Yue nodded. The Hell officer immediately walked to the front and lead the way. Zhong Yue looked back, Lan Si God was still boasting with the Hell guardians on the A’Bi City wall, even gladly accepting every gift from the officers.

After Jin’er and I left, Lan Si God will definitely be skinned and tortured by the guardians. But whatever, Lan Si is not a good man either.

Not long after, they reached the front of the Abyss. There, it felt like they had walked into another dimension.

The Six Paths World and Hell shared the same space but a different dimension with different laws of heaven and earth.

And now, Zhong Yue and Qiu Jin’er felt the same change of atmosphere when walking closer to the Abyss. It felt as though the laws of heaven and earth were fading away, everything around was dead and withered.

“This feeling… It felt the same as the one that shrouded the Ancestral Star!” Xin Huo exclaimed in shock.

Zhong Yue thought, and surely enough, it was the same feeling that was brewing in the Ancestral Star.

However, it was much more extreme here compared to the Ancestral Star. After all, gods weren’t suppressed in the Ancestral Star, whereas in here, even Deity Emperors would be wholly suppressed.

“The Abyss required a key to open, if there wasn’t anyone leading the way, even the emissaries might not be able to find the way in.” The Hell officer smiled and said as he opened the Abyss.

Zhong Yue looked over and pondered deeply at the totem patterns engraved on the Gate of Abyss. The totem patterns were incredibly complex and were even incessantly changing with every second. Even the Hell officer, who was a Heavenly Deity, was panting while unlocking the gate.

If this can unlock the seals on the Abyss, it might also clear the seals placed on the Ancestral Star.

Zhong Yue thought, rays flashed across his eyes and his divine eyes opened furtively as he stared at the changes of the totem patterns.

It took one whole hour for the Hell officer to unlock the gate, Zhong Yue and Qiu Jin’er walked into the Abyss while the Hell officer was leading them in front.

They glanced around and found themselves situated in the middle of a pitch black space. There wasn’t any referencing objects they could use to determine their positions. There were no lights or sounds; they couldn’t even hear their own footsteps or heartbeat.

Silence.

It was deathly silence.

Qiu Jin’er couldn’t help but grip Zhong Yue’s hand tighter. The absolute silence in the Abyss could easily drive a person insane. To be trapped in a space with absolute no sensory stimuli was a fate worse than even the cruelest torture.

However, those here were imprisoned for eternity until their souls withered away!

But those that would be imprisoned here were all the strong and powerful figures, some had even cultivated the Six Paths Wheel and had a lifespan of over a hundred thousand years!

“I’m sorry, I’ve forgotten that the emissaries couldn’t see in the Abyss. Please forgive me.” The Hell officer’s said with his psyche.

He snapped his finger softly and a glimmering road appeared in front of them. It was a swirling staircase that led to the bottom of the Abyss.

However, other than the road itself, everything else around was still pitch black and dead quiet. Even Zhong Yue’s divine eyes couldn’t see through the darkness in here.

They walked down the stairs, and suddenly, a bright ray emerged in the darkness. It was a simple and crude prison cell built in the midst of darkness.

Inside the cell, there was a god with a green face, long fangs and a hideous look squatting in front of a table. The center of the table was dug open, and another god’s head was placed through the hole.

The god’s skull was opened by brute force, and his brain was still thumping vigorously.

The green face god scooped a handful of the grey matter and brutally devoured it as its victim could only whimper in pain. Yet, no matter how loud he shouted, there wasn’t a single sound that could be heard on the outside.

The green face god’s stomach was bloated like a mountain, but he still continued eating while the trapped god’s brain would continually regenerate itself back right after it was eaten.

The green face god was eating while mumbling to himself, by the reading the shape of his lips, Zhong Yue could tell he was saying, “Why isn’t it ending yet?”

“These two, one of them snuck into the imperial feast and stole food, while the other was the guard on patrol on the day of the feast.”

In front of them, the Hell officer said, “The Realm Monarch had a feast for the officials, but they nearly ruined everything. Thus, the furious Realm Monarch condemned them to the Abyss. The gluttonous one shall never stop eating, and the one with dereliction of duty will suffer being eaten for eternity.”

Zhong Yue furtively glanced at Qiu Jin’er and said with his psyche, “Look at that!”

Qiu Jin’er shuddered and instantly kept the snacks away from her hands.

Further down the stairs, another a prison cell appeared in the midst of darkness. This time, inside the prison cell was a mountain made of sharp blades. The blades were rolling, twisting, swirling and swinging unceasingly at great speed.

A god could be seen rolling down from the mountain top, lacerated by the blades on the way down, the flesh on his body viciously being cut out of him. After he rolled to the bottom of the mountain, the blade mountain would disappear and rise up again right below him, repeating the cycle anew.

Every part of his body was covered in wounds and blood. Even some of its bones were exposed to the air. Yet, the god remained to be well alive.

“This is a god who had an extreme lust of blood. Relying on the Immortal Body he cultivated, he has always been charging into gory fights. As a result, he lost control one day and killed the son of the South Heaven King, a talented young man from an honorable family. He would’ve be able to walk away scott-free if it were someone else, but that day, he made the wrong enemy. Thus, he is condemned to suffer in pain and agony for eternally while being kept alive by his Immortal Body.”

As the Hell officer explained, Qiu Jin’er glanced furtively at Zhong Yue and said, “Senior martial brother, you’ve also cultivated the Immortal Body.”

“Jin’er, aren’t you the same?” Zhong Yue shuddered in cold, but retorted back calmly.

“But I am not fond of battle.” Qiu Jin’er smiled.

They continued further down and saw another prison cell. It was a male god that was imprisoned here, but he was clamped on a chair and was giving birth to one baby after another. However, the babies would die right after their arrival in this world.

“This one had an affair with the mistress of an unspoken existence. At the end, the mistress bore his child and the unspoken existence’s anger brought him here. He is punished to forever give birth to stillborn babies.”

The further down they went in the Abyss, the more cells they saw, and no prison cell had the same punishment as the others. The gods imprisoned here had committed different sins and were tormented in different ways. However, most of them were just here because they happened to offend powerful figures.

For thousands of prison cells they saw, only a few of those who committed truly heinous crimes, one of whom was the demon god they were going to imprison here.

Zhong Yue was puzzled by the phenomenon and the Hell officer answered with a smile, “Those that are truly sinful are kept in the deepest region. That is the only place that can suppress them. However…”

The Hell officer suddenly shuddered in cold as he continued, “It’s better if we stay away from there! Although the prisoners are secured, the Abyss can’t exactly impose any torment to them due to their overpowering strength.”

Zhong Yue smiled, he replied nonchalantly, “Since we are already here in the Abyss, it’d be a shame if we left without visiting them. Lead the way.”

The Hell officer had no choice but to lead the way.

As they went deeper, the ambiance grew heavier. An unknown force was brewing in the atmosphere, posing a great pressure to their souls; it was so strong that they felt crushed.

Suddenly, a faint light emerged in the total darkness, there was even the sounds of snoring that penetrated through the prison cell.

Zhong Yue and the others walked closer to have a clearer look. Inside of the prison cell was a god shining with golden rays, he was sleeping on his side and the snores alone were shuddering the prison cell.

Whereas around the giant god, there were some fragmented suns burning with flames surrounding him in the center.

“This is a vicious god, the judges planned to burn into ashes but he had crushed all the suns in one strike. Countless officers and guards died in his hands, even the judges and Hell Emperor couldn’t do anything to him. In the end, he is left here to slowly die of old age.”

The Hell officer lowered his voice as he said, “He was said to have been slumbering for over tens of thousands if years. As for his sin, he had broken the laws of Heaven!”

Then, the next prison cell they have encountered imprisoned another god. Zhong Yue jumped in shock and found the god to be an ape-like god with white hair—it was the exact same monster emperor that tried to snatch the Six Paths Paragon!
