The two chatted for a while longer before hanging up. Chi Shuyan didn’t get home until almost 10pm. On the way, Qi Zhenbai called her a few times, and only dropped the subject when he found out that she was almost at the apartment.
Chi Shuyan opened the door with the password, took off her shoes, and went in. The living room light was on.
She went in and saw the man sitting on the living room sofa, waiting for her.
Qi Zhenbai heaved a sigh of relief when he saw his wife. He was about to speak, when his eyes fell on the two buttons on her shirt that were unbuttoned. Under the light, his eyes dimmed at the sight of her fair skin.
Chi Shuyan didn’t forget this man’s aesthetic taste and hurriedly expressed that she had just unbuttoned them casually because of the heat.
A dark light flashed in Qi Zhenbai’s eyes, but he didn’t pursue the matter. Instead, he asked, “How did it go?”
Chi Shuyan was embarrassed to say that she went there for nothing and didn’t earn anything, so she nodded. “It was fine!”
Qi Zhenbai patted the spot on the sofa beside him. “Watch TV?”
Chi Shuyan simply sat down and the man gave her the remote control to choose the channel.
After sitting for a while, Chi Shuyan suddenly said, “Your childhood friend called me earlier to ask for talismans. I have to go and prepare them!”
“Wait!”
Chi Shuyan stopped in her tracks when the man handed her a black and gold invitation card. “This is?”
“An invitation from the Celestial Master Auction House!” This was a famous auction house for the capital’s Celestial Masters, which belonged to the reclusive Jing family! Ever since Qi Zhenbai found out that his wife was a Celestial Master, he had begun to pay attention to matters related to Celestial Masters and their cultivation.
He naturally knew that many Celestial Masters obtained resources through auction houses. In fact, invitations to these kinds of auction houses were sent to the Qi family every year, and were handled by his grandfather.
He had gone a few times this year and occasionally picked up some things, but as an ordinary person, he had no use for those Celestial Master things, so he never went again after that.
Actually, he had even picked up some pills which he wanted to give to his grandfather.
But he had someone examine the composition of the pills and found that while they were indeed beneficial to the body, they also had impurities and side effects.
In his opinion, the medicinal pills of these Celestial Masters weren’t as useful as his wife’s spirit rice, and were a lot worse.
Qi Zhenbai also planned to take back part of the mining rights for the spirit mine at Longhu Mountain and transfer them under his wife’s name. His wife would need the spirit mine for her cultivation, but he didn’t plan to talk about it yet.
When Chi Shuyan heard the man’s words, genuine delight flashed in her eyes. It just so happened that she wanted to buy a pill furnace to try refining pills. Otherwise, it would be useless even if she had the pill formulas.
This auction invitation was really timely.
Seeing his wife’s happy face, Qi Zhenbai secretly felt that his thoughts hadn’t been in vain.
The next day, the man led Chi Shuyan to the capital’s largest auction house for Celestial Masters.
The two entered the auction house with the invitation letter and were led respectfully to the high-class private room number 1, which was reserved especially for the Qi family.
The private rooms were specially reserved for distinguished guests. Each private room had an LCD screen which allowed them to watch what was happening in the main hall. If one took a fancy to the items displayed in the main hall during the auction, they could manually enter the private room number and the amount.
This was the first time Chi Shuyan had come to the Celestial Master Auction House, and she was quite excited and eager to see what was on auction. This time, she came mainly to buy a pill furnace and medicinal pills. She wanted to refine pills herself with the former, as well as compare the differences between medicinal pills for Celestial Masters and cultivators.
The two sat for a while, and when almost everyone was here, the items that had been put up for auction were revealed.
