Chapter 2944: I Only Want Huo Mian (24)
– 5 minutes later –
Huo Siqian’s subordinate hung up the phone and replied carefully, “Boss, they said one to two hours.”
“There wouldn’t be any side effects, right?” Huo Siqian asked warily.
“No, they mentioned that Miss Huo would simply be taking a nap like normal.”
“Good.” Huo Siqian’s lip curved up, revealing the usual hidden smile.
“Boss…”
“Speak.”
“Zhang Manlin… died.”
“Good,” Huo Siqian said nonchalantly; he couldn’t care less about the livelihood of that pawn. He had no sympathy for her, despite her sudden change of heart and insistence on helping him one last time.
Even if Qin Chu didn’t kill her off, he wouldn’t have kept her around. After all, he would never keep anyone that dared to harm Huo Mian.
“Qin Chu killed Zhang Manlin by shooting her.”
“That’s kind of him. If someone like her fell into my hands, I’d slice her up one piece at a time. She can die after suffering all the pain that this world has to offer.” Huo Siqian smiled slightly.
“Boss, should we continue with our original plan?”
“Yes.”
“On Huo Yanyan’s end…” The subordinate began to speak but stopped.
“Clean up in half an hour or so. I like to tie up loose ends before I go.”
“Okay.”
Huo Siqian leaned towards Huo Mian and watched her as she was deeply asleep. His eyes traced her face tenderly.
“After a couple of hours, we’ll be together forever. Mian, are you happy?” Huo Siqian whispered.
– A nursing home under the city bureau –
Due to the sensitivity around Huo Yanyan, the timing of the incident, and the previous framing of Huo Siqian, a lot of high profile officials within the city have been keeping their eyes on her.
Instead of sending her to a psychiatric ward like any other patient, she was kept at a nursing home directly related to the city bureau.
Shen Mingxi brought Tiantian as he had been taking care of her.
She was still young, so regardless of how close she was with him, she still wanted her mother. Therefore, Shen Mingxi called Gao Ran and brought her to visit Huo Yanyan.
“President Shen, she’s just inside, you can go in. But…” The nurse began speaking and stopped.
“But what?”
“She’s very emotionally unstable; you should keep your distance. The doctor has specified to not remove the binds on her limbs because she has bitten three people already.”
“Okay, I understand.”
Upon hearing the nurse’s word, Shen Mingxi felt his mood drop as he walked towards her ward. The noises that came out of her room alarmed him. Upon listening for a moment, he realized something was wrong.
“Yanyan?” Shen Mingxi called out her name.
Seeing that there was no response, the nurse’s warning flew right out of his head; he kicked the door open and was greeted with a startling scene.
A man with a black mask and baseball hat was choking Huo Yanyan’s neck with a rope. Her mouth was wide open, but no sound came out. Her eyes rolled back, revealing all the whites of her eyes as she struggled for air.
“Mommy!!!” Tiantian screamed and began crying.
“Stop!” Shen Mingxi bolted forward. Seeing the situation, the man immediately turned and jumped out of the window. Seeing his build and physique, he looked like a professional hitman.
Huo Yanyan fell to the floor after the man had let go of her.
“Yanyan!” Shen Mingxi lifted Huo Yanyan, his face completely pale.
“Mommy… don’t die!” Tiantian knelt beside Huo Yanyan and cried.
