Mr. Xiao’s Unconditional Love Chapter 404

Chapter 404 - Stinky Tofu

He couldn’t hold it in anymore. He hugged her from the back tightly and asked,” Ye Qiao, are you playing hide-and-seek with me?”

“You dared to say that you were not going to get married. Are you trying to scare me? We already are husband and wife. Have you lost your memory?” he said to her while hugging her waist from behind and resting his chin on her head.

Ye Qiao kept quiet and did not react at all to what he said.

Lu Beixiao became nervous when she did not react at all. He turned her around to face him but she lowered her head to avoid eye contact. She didn’t say anything to him as she was still angry.

Ye Qiao had scolded him, ran away and beaten him before but she was not as cold as she was now.

“I don’t understand. What are you angry about? I’m the one who should be angry, right? When I think of what happened that day, I still feel fearful. Do you understand? Don’t be angry. Let’s go home,” he said and held her little hand, leading her towards the car.

Ye Qiao still didn’t say anything but she followed him.

He took her back to the car but as he opened the door to the front passenger seat, she slid out of his grip and jumped in the back seat instead.

She still continued her silent treatment.

He had no choice but to drive with her sitting at the backseat. It was really dark and he wasn’t able to see what she was doing at the back.

“Baby, don’t be angry. Are you hungry? I’ll take you to eat some stewed food. I know a lot of old restaurants in J City,” he said gently, trying to coax her.

Ye Qiao swallowed her saliva but she was hungry because she had not eaten dinner yet. However, she still kept quiet.

She started giving him the silent treatment initially to show that she was angry but as she continued, she wanted to see if she could defeat Lu Beixiao and see if he would let go of his ego for her.

“Baby, if you don’t say anything, I’ll take it as your acquiescence! Let’s go and have supper then,” Lu Beixiao said.

Lu Beixiao spent many of his years in J City. So he knew where all the good food were.

He brought her to a restaurant that seemed very ordinary and wasn’t exactly the cleanest restaurant there was. However, he knew that the restaurant serves many delicious delicacies. As part of culture, Lu Beixiao soaked the chopsticks and utensils in the hot water provided and he also poured tea for Ye Qiao.

Ye Qiao did not speak the whole time and just ate quietly.

All of a sudden, Ye Qiao got a whiff of stinky tofu from outside the shop. She got up and was about to go out but Lu Beixiao hurried to her while covering his nose and offered, “What do you want to eat? I’ll buy it for you.”

Ye Qiao stood in front of the shop and pointed at the stinky tofu stall diagonally across.

! ! !

“That thing is too smelly and unhygienic. Dont eat such food,” he said to her..

Ye Qiao was expressionless to his remark. She walked around him and headed straight for the stall.

“Okay, okay, okay! I’ll go buy it. Go back and sit down,” he said. He absolutely hated the smell and couldn’t think of why would people actually eat this.

Howeve he had no choice. In order to please his wife, he covered his nose and walked over to the stall to buy some for her.

Ye Qiao watched Lu Beixiao cover his nose and walked towards the stinky todu stall. She couldn’t help but let out a small laugh. She was afraid that he would notice her expression broke so she turned away to readjust her cold, mean look. In her previous life, she knew that Lu Beixiao hated stinky tofu and could not stand the smell at all.

There was a time when she bought some stinky tofu and brought it home to eat at the courtyard. He couldn’t stand the stench and forced her to brush her teeth several times.

“Young man, why do you still want to buy when you obviously hate the smell so much. Are you torturing yourself?” the shopkeeper asked him in confusion.

“Aunt, my wife wants to eat it. No matter how smelly it is, I’d still have to endure it for her,” Lu Beixiao said without the slightest bit of shame.

The aunt was surprised with his answer and even she gave out a giggle and answered him,”Yes, yes, yes. That is very good young man. Come, I’ll give your wife two more pieces.”

Wrongly imprisoned for a crime she did not commit, Ye Qiao was freed from the iron gates that locked her away for seven years with nowhere to go, no one to see, and nothing to move on to following the passing of her husband, who she had never appreciated. The man was part of the Special Forces and had been killed during a mission.

She thought she would never cry again after being hardened by the hard knocks of prison life, but there she was, weeping for the man named Lu Beixiao. He had spent his entire life loving her, truly and deeply, but she had been misled by her own s*upidity and lack of trust.

On her first day out of prison, she found herself in an accident and learned that it was actually a homicide, presumably by the same people that had killed her husband. “Boss, there’s nothing to worry about. She is going to die for sure,” the stranger’s voice rang in her ears.

Even though she was going to die, all she could think of was that she wanted to see her husband again in her next life and find her way back in love.

She must.

All of sudden, Ye Qiao awakened to her life twenty years ago! It seemed that she had been given another chance to right the wrongs of the past, but would she be able to overcome the obstacles that had held her back in her past life? Who was the man responsible for her death, and would he prevent her from doing so?
