Dai Jie glanced at Huo Yao before he said, “Since we are not welcome, then we will make ourselves scarce.”
Jiang Mingyue undoubtedly wanted Huo Yao to leave. However, why did it sound as if Dai Jie was not interested in helping them with data analysis?
Jiang Mingyue frowned. She did not want to offend Dai Jie, so she eased up on Huo Yao and explained. “Dai Jie, I think you are mistaken. I have a personal vendetta with Huo Yao, but that does not mean you are not welcome on the team.”
Dai Jie was the best student in Bioinformatics. She naturally did not want to get on his bad side. After all, she was bound to need his help in the future.
Dai Jie pursed his lips. He had personally brought Huo Yao over. If Huo Yao was not welcome, it was as good as saying he was not welcome.
Moreover, Huo Yao was not the type to pick a fight. Instead, Jiang Mingyue undoubtedly had a lot of potential to get into a conflict unilaterally, judging from her proud tone of voice. It was impossible for anyone to like Jiang Mingyue.
Dai Jie pursed his lips and said, “I suggest you get someone else to help you with data analysis.”
The moment he finished his sentence, he looked at Huo Yao and said apologetically, “Huo Yao, my bad. I should have told you about this earlier. Now, I have wasted your time by dragging you here.”
Dai Jie genuinely felt sorry towards Huo Yao. Huo Yao had offered to help but ended up meeting the last person she probably wanted to see.
Huo Yao raised her brow and glanced at Dai Jie. She was rather surprised by his reaction. She smiled and said, “I wouldn’t call it an entirely wasted trip.”
Dai Jie wanted to say, ‘let’s go’. The moment he heard what Huo Yao said, he was briefly stunned and did not quite understand what she was driving at.
Huo Yao tilted her head. “If I didn’t swing by today, I wouldn’t have learned about someone stealing my idea.”
“Huh? Stole your idea?” Dai Jie was even more puzzled.
“Uh huh.” Huo Yao looked at Jiang Mingyue. “Right, Mingyue?”
Jiang Mingyue’s hands trembled as her face instantly turned pale. Since they were involved in academic research, stealing an idea was no different from plagiarism.
If people found out about it, the bad name would follow her for life.
“I suggest you watch what you say. What do you mean by saying I stole your idea? Are you the only person on earth who is capable of deciphering the genetic code? In that case, does it mean no one else in the world is allowed to conduct any research on the subject? You certainly are hilarious!” said Jiang Mingyue sharply.
No way on earth would she admit to stealing the idea.
Just because Huo Yao had brought it up in passing, it did not mean that it was her idea.
This was simply preposterous.
Huo Yao was very impressed. Jiang Mingyue was determined not to admit to plagiarism. Also, she was able to defend herself eloquently. She could genuinely pass off as a sweet and honest soul any day.
“You are certainly eloquent. However, theft is theft. No matter how you try to copy my work, you will never understand its true essence,” sneered Huo Yao.
Jiang Mingyue sneered. “If I could understand the true essence, I would be a famous scientist by now and not just a student.”
The moment the rest of the research team members overheard the conversation at the door, they hurriedly stopped working. They walked over, and stood behind Jiang Mingyue.
Everyone knew exactly what had happened previously. They looked at each other and spoke up before Jiang Mingyue could continue.
They had to settle this argument as soon as possible.
