Dai Jie looked sideways when Huo Yao suddenly pulled his arm. He looked at her quizzically. “Yes?”
As he spoke, he pressed the doorbell out of momentum.
“Are you talking about Jiang Mingyue?” Huo Yao touched her forehead.
Dai Jie nodded. “Uh huh.” He recalled mentioning this yesterday at their own laboratory.
Dai Jie noticed something wrong with Huo Yao’s expression, so he could not help asking. “Why? Do you know her?”
Huo Yao sighed. It was too late and there was no avoiding Jiang Mingyue today since he had already pressed the doorbell.
She did not have the chance to answer him as the laboratory entrance had already opened from inside.
It was none other than Jiang Mingyue opening the door.
Jiang Mingyue was about to greet Dai Jie when she caught sight of the person standing beside him and instantly swallowed her words.
Jiang Mingyue’s expression also changed instantly.
What was this girl doing here?
Was Huo Yao not a freshman?
Why would she know Dai Jie?
Now that Huo Yao was here with Dai Jie, did it mean Huo Yao had learned about her plagiarism?
The more Jiang Mingyue contemplated, the faster her face turned pale. There was a buzzing sound in her head as she held the door so tightly that she nearly broke her nails.
Dai Jie looked at Jiang Mingyue and saw her looking at Huo Yao. Also, her face was ghastly white. It seemed as though she had just seen a ghost.
Dai Jie looked at Huo Yao quizzically. The atmosphere felt a little strange. Even though he did not know about their vendetta, his breathing automatically softened.
The atmosphere was eerily quiet.
After some time, Huo Yao finally broke the silence and answered Dai Jie’s earlier question.
“That’s right. I do know her. I know her very well, no less.” Huo Yao looked at Jiang Mingyue and smiled teasingly.
Since Dai Jie was talking about genetic code decipherment, Jiang Mingyue had probably taken her idea.
The instant Jiang Mingyue made eye contact with Huo Yao, she knew Huo Yao must have realized that she had stolen Huo Yao’s idea.
Before she used Huo Yao’s idea, she had thought about it carefully. If she did not ask Liu Qian to do the comparative testing, Huo Yao would never come to know.
This was the reason she had asked Dai Jie for help.
She had spoken to Dai Jie a few times previously. He was a nice guy and very good at Bioinformatics. Since he was a few years Huo Yao’s senior, it was unlikely for them to have any contact.
Dai Jie was undoubtedly the best person to help them do data analysis without letting Huo Yao find out Jiang Mingyue had picked up her idea.
However, Dai Jie was shockingly acquainted with Huo Yao.
Even if they knew each other, it was unlikely for him to talk to anyone else about this experiment since it was confidential.
However, the calculation expert he had wanted to recommend was surprisingly Huo Yao! The very person she had been trying to avoid at all costs!
Jiang Mingyue felt absolutely annoyed.
She inhaled deeply and kept telling herself to calm down. She could not lose her cool. No matter what, the comparative testing for this experiment had to pass.
Jiang Mingyue let go of the door before she looked at Dai Jie once more. “Sorry, Dai Jie. I doubt you know about the conflict between Huo Yao and me. If she is the expert you were talking about, she is not welcome in the team.”
Dai Jie frowned.. He did not quite know about the conflict between Jiang Mingyue and Huo Yao, but Jiang Mingyue’s blunt and aggressive tone made him inexplicably annoyed.
