A woman was in his apartment.
That thought was the first thing that popped into Nian Xi’s head.
She bent over to take a closer look at those shoes: white, slim heels, not too high. Those heels definitely did not belong to an older woman.
So, a young woman was in Jiang Yuning’s apartment.
Anger welled up inside her. What was going on? Did Jiang Yuning bring a girl home behind her back? Didn’t Uncle Han say he had been working on the robot nonstop without eating or drinking? She wouldn’t have known about this woman had she not come here today with the key.
Calm down. Jiang Yuning’s not a player. If someone like him cheats on his girlfriend, I’ll never believe in love again.
Nian Xi walked inside on tiptoe.
The rooms on the outside seemed to be empty. Jiang Yuning’s lab was in the center of the apartment. Nian Xi noticed that the door was unlocked. As she got closer, she heard some muffled voices.
She bent down to look through the door slit and saw Jiang Yuning sitting on the floor with a girl who was wearing a long cardigan with the sleeves rolled up.
The two of them were eating and chatting. The girl had long, shiny hair and, from behind, looked quite petite.
That scene created a black hole in Nian Xi’s heart.
All along, apart from science, she thought she was Jiang Yuning’s whole world. She never worried about another woman stealing him away or that he might have someone on the side.
But at that very moment, she felt as if her life was spinning out of control.
It turned out that any man would have girls in his life.
She couldn’t hear what those two were talking about, but she saw the girl put a piece of vegetable in his bowl. He didn’t seem to notice her movement and just put the food into his mouth.
Nian Xi almost exploded.
She kicked the door open and stormed in.
“Xi, what are you doing here?” Jiang Yuning turned and saw her, his eyes glowed brightly.
The woman turned around too. She was young. From her appearance, she looked as if she had grown up in a family of academics.
Nian Xi considered herself prettier than the girl, though.
“Why can’t I be here? I need to know why the robot trashed my kitchen.” Nian Xi restrained her anger, looked at the girl, and said with a smile, “Who is this? I haven’t seen her before. She’s pretty.”
Before Jiang Yuning said anything, the girl introduced herself, “My name is He Xin. You’re Yuning’s girlfriend, aren’t you? I heard that the robot I made had a problem, so I came here as soon as I could. I’m so sorry. As for the damage, you can give me a number. I’ll pay you double.”
Nian Xi’s heart skipped a beat.
What she was worried about really did happen.
Before coming into the room, she wondered if the girl was He Xin. It turned out she had guessed right.
Seeking how the girl put the vegetable in Jiang Yuning’s bowl, she was sure she liked him.
“Double? All right. I lost five or six hundred thousand in total. You can give me a million,” Nian Xi said with a smile. “That’s not a large sum of money.”
He Xin furrowed her brows and said, “From what I heard, only some kitchen appliances were damaged. A million is a little too much, even including compensation for your pain and suffering. Furnishing an entire apartment would only cost about 400,000, and what we’re talking about is just a kitchen. Yuning, what do you think?”
“Eh?” Jiang Yuning scratched the back of his head and said, “I’ve never bought any kitchen appliances yet. But… I think… It’s a little too much indeed.”
