Nian Xi did not know how to respond to what he said.
She thought about it carefully and found that he was right. She was poor indeed.
She had all sorts of stocks, funds, and properties under her name, but she couldn’t spend any of it. Her allowance was cut off completely because she rejected the blind dates that her mother arranged for her. Currently, she lived on the pathetic salary that she earned by serving as a policewoman, and the occasional pity money from her grandparents.
That was sad.
“You’re right,” Nian Xi nodded and said. “I came from a rich family, but I’m not spoiled. Do you understand? So when we get married, you can feel free to let me keep all your money. Every penny I spend, I’ll make it worth it.”
Jiang Yuning nodded.
Nian Xi was already thinking about their married life. That was not going to happen any time soon, but still, he was happy.
“You don’t need to save money. All the money I make is for you to spend. I don’t need to spend any for myself. All I need is you.”
“Thank you.” Nian Xi threw him a kiss, making him feel shy.

Around dinner time, they returned to Nian Xi’s apartment.
Nian Xi threw herself onto the couch to watch a Korean TV drama. It was so nice to have a boyfriend. She could be as lazy as she liked, and she would still have something to eat.
She didn’t have high hopes for Jiang Yuning’s cooking though. After all, he only ate vegetables. What kind of cuisine could he possibly make?
As the female lead in the drama was going to cheat on her boyfriend, Nian Xi heard a moan from the kitchen.
“What’s wrong?” Nian Xi hurriedly walked into the kitchen and saw Jiang Yuning quickly hide his hand behind his back.
Nian Xi then saw blood on the floor. She pulled out his hand from behind his back and found a deep, bleeding cut on his forefinger.
“I’m sorry. I was too clumsy.” Jiang Yuning found it shameful. It was the first time he cooked for his girlfriend, and he ended up cutting himself.
“You are clumsy indeed.” Nian Xi brought him out of the kitchen and tried to stop the bleeding with a tissue. After a failed attempt, she put his finger directly into her mouth.
“Xi…” Jiang Yuning’s eyes widened and his face reddened.
His finger was in her mouth. He felt the itchiness and numbness he felt before; he felt as if his heart was on fire.
There was a distance between them, but Nian Xi clearly heard him gasping for air. Wickedly, she rounded her tongue on the tip of his finger.
Jiang Yuning gave a muffled moan. He pushed her away in a flurry, then turned and fled into the bathroom.
The door slammed shut.
On the outside, Nian Xi laughed so hard that she bent over. She wasn’t expecting him to be so sensitive.
She was still a little worried though. After all, he cut his finger.
“Come out.” She hurriedly knocked on the bathroom door and said, “I’ll put a bandage on your wound.”
“No. I’ll come out later. My finger isn’t bleeding any more.” Jiang Yuning’s muffled voice was heard from the bathroom.
“Why are you staying in the bathroom?” Nian Xi pretended she didn’t know why.
“I… I’m having a stomachache.”
Stomachache?
Nian Xi didn’t believe it.
“All right. Just finish and come out.” Nian Xi tried not to laugh out loud.
About ten minutes later, Jiang Yuning came out of the bathroom. His cheeks were still pink.
Nian Xi glanced at his trousers and said, “You spent quite a while in there. You’re not constipated, are you?”
“N-no…”
Nian Xi pulled Jiang Yuning onto the couch before he could finish stuttering.
She laid herself upon him; he didn’t even know how to react.
“Xi, we… we can’t do this yet.”
