When Li Zhuojia entered the laboratory, a man with messy and unkempt hair, an unshaven face, and deep sunken eyes was hunched over a desk.
This person did not have any semblance to the gentle and sunny man of the past. If the white lab coat was stripped from him, he would look like a street beggar.
“Yunmo! I have good news! I have good news!”
“I told you not to disturb me whilst I’m doing experiments!”
In the past two years, Jian Yunmo had become quite cranky. He did not allow people to touch his possessions nor disturb him whilst he was doing experiments.
This was his sister’s unfinished work.
Even if his sister was no longer here, he wanted to finish it.
“Yunmo, your sister! My Dean! She’s still alive!” Li Zhuojia cried out in an excited voice.
Upon hearing this, Jian Yunmo stared at Li Zhuojia in a daze. He was unable to react.
“What did you say? Who is still alive?”
“Our Dean! Yiling! Your sister!” Li Zhuojia repeated.
Jian Yunmo was stunned for a moment before he lunged forward and grabbed Li Zhuojia’s shoulder: “Where is she?”
“Phone! Phone call!” Li Zhuojia pointed at his hand.
Jian Yunmo looked at the phone. For some reason, he was too scared to pick the phone up.
He was afraid that this was just a dream. He was afraid that the voice inside the call was not Yiling. He was afraid that Li Zhuojia was mistaken.
“Aiya!” Li Zhuojia cried out as he placed the phone next to Jian Yunmo’s ear.
“Brother Yunmo.”
A soft and sweet voice that Jian Yunmo was familiar with could be heard through the phone.
“Yiling…”
This was Yiling’s voice! It was his sister’s voice!
His sister was alive!
Jian Yunmo was stunned.
When he listened to the voice, Jian Yunmo felt as though he was dreaming. It was so unreal.
“Yiling… Yiling…”
Jian Yunmo failed to articulate any other words. He could only repeatedly say Jian Yiling’s name.
“I’m here… I’m here…” Jian Yiling answered.
When he received this response, tears began to flow out of Jian Yunmo’s eyes.
He began to smile as he cried.
As he held the phone, his entire body began to tremble.
For countless nights, he dreamt of his sister coming back. He dreamt of her returning to his side. However, when he woke up, he got disappointed every single time.
During these two years, he felt that hope was slowly slipping away from him. The only things that he could do were to protect the hospital they built together and to complete the experiments that they hadn’t finished.
His sister… She was alive…
“Brother Yunmo, I’m alright. I need you guys to come over right away.”
“Okay! I will be right there! Wait for me. Don’t hang up. Just stay on the phone with me.”
Jian Yunmo wanted to keep listening to Jian Yiling’s voice. By doing so, he could truly feel that she was still alive.
“I borrowed this phone.”
“It’s okay. I will charge money for this phone. Put me on speaker. I will speak to the phone owner.”
Jian Yunmo wiped the tear marks off his face. As he spoke, he pulled Li Zhuojia outside.
They had to take off immediately to get to Jian Yiling.
Jian Yiling pressed the speaker button on the phone.
Jian Yunmo: “Hello, I’m very thankful that you lent your phone to my sister. When we arrive, we will definitely give you a generous reward. Please take care of my sister. Send me your online bank account and I will send you a sum of money.. If you’re okay with it, you can treat it as though I’ve purchased this phone.”
