Ye Shaoguang stared at Ji Mianmian’s back and mumbled. “How can I die when I have yet to win your heart?”
Ji Mianmian was absentminded throughout the journey and snapped out of confusion only after she walked out of the detention center.
Ji Mianmian turned around abruptly but Ye Shaoguang was nowhere to be seen.
Yan Qingsi pressed the car horn and yelled, “Get in the car…”
Dazed and confused, Ji Mianmian entered the car.
“Did you see him just now?”
“Yes.”
“How was he?”
“He…should be…fine?” Ji Mianmian licked her lips and savored the warmth that lingered around her mouth.
Ji Mianmian scratched her head in annoyance at her own incompetence. Dang it, she did not even inquire about Ye Shaoguang’s condition in the detention center.
However, no one would feel fine in that sort of place, right?
Ji Mianmian let out a heavy sigh. Something peculiar was going on with her today, but she had no clue to describe the strange sensation that was bothering her.
Ye Shaoguang kissed her multiple times previously too, but this time… This time… It felt different. There was no direct connection between their lips, and yet she could feel the tumultuous thudding of her heartbeat even at this instant.
Yan Qingsi noticed Ji Mianmian’s inattentive state and decided to drive the car herself.
After shifting to the driver seat and starting the engine, Yan Qingsi asked, “Mianmian, what happened to you?”
Ji Mianmian lifted her head and glanced at Yan Qingsi. “Sis, I… I don’t know what happened to me too…”
Yan Qingsi sighed in response. Perhaps Ye Shaoguang had taken down the first line of defense in Ji Mianmian’s heart after all.
Yan Qingsi asked, “What were you thinking when you saw Ye Shaoguang?”
“Nothing… I was just thinking that…a person like him shouldn’t live such a life.”
Ji Mianmian always had the impression that Ye Shaoguang was as beautiful as a lady, cold and noble. Anyone who engaged in conversations with him would feel inferior for some inexplicable reason. Thus, Ji Mianmian figured that such a man actually belonged to the upper class of the society and that they were never birds of a feather, to begin with.
Yan Qingsi smiled. “Who deserves to live such a life?”
“Will you be sad if he was sentenced to life imprisonment?”
“Yes…” Ji Mianmian nodded without the slightest hesitation.
“Why?”
Ji Mianmian shook her head in response. “I don’t know why, but I know I’ll feel sad when that happens. Perhaps, I’ve considered him as a friend since he has given me free food, drinks and even a place to stay. To be honest, other than a bad temper…he is actually a good man.”
Yan Qingsi smiled and kept quiet.
