“This matter is not negotiable. If you really can’t accept this, I will leave Jing Family and start my own.” Jing Tian interrupted his father.
“Jing Tian, what are you saying? You are going to abandon your parents for a woman? I will break your legs! You unfilial son, you! I can’t believe my ears! Do you want me to die from anger?!” Old Master Jing demanded.
Jing Tian allowed his father to stomp about. “This is up to you, father. If you don’t force me, then I won’t anger you. If you insist on pushing me to do things I don’t want to, then I’ll have no choice but to leave this family.”
“Listen to yourself. What are you saying?! Jing Tian, I wish to drag you to your mother and show her how ridiculous you are acting. That way she will teach you a lesson herself!” Old Master Jing gritted his teeth.
Jing Tian was completely fearless. “Are you sure about that?”
Old Master Jing backed down. “Hmm. You’re right. You’ll only make things worse for her!”
This was actually a one-sided negotiation. Old Master Jing couldn’t really do anything to Jing Tian. Old Master Jing changed another tact. “Jing Tian, you are a part of the Jing Family. Don’t you feel like you need to take care of your own and your family’s reputation?
“Jing Ning and Nanxing just got married and that finally got the rumors to stop. If you marry your nephew’s wife’s sister, especially when she used to be your nephew’s fiance, what do you think the others will say? Are you trying to make a fool of the Jing Family?”
Jing Tian did not say anything.
Old Master Jing continued, “Son, there are so many good girls out there. What type do you prefer? Just tell me and as your father, I will do everything in my power to get her to marry you. Can’t you just make this one sacrifice for the family?”
Jing Tian looked at him and said evenly, “If there will be such serious consequences from me marrying Nanxing, then I will leave the Jing Family. It’ll be better for everyone. I can get what I want and the Jing family won’t be embarrassed because of me.”
“Bullshit! Bullshit! Stop threatening to leave the Jing Family! You are just bullying me! What have the Jing Family done to you people? Why do you all threaten to leave the Jing Family whenever the chance comes up. What have I done so wrong that you can’t stay in the same family with me?” Old Master Jing’s voice was filled with grievance.
Jing Tian was silent.
You people? Plural? Other than Jing Tian, who wanted to leave the Jing Family? I was confused.
“Dad.” Jing Tian began softly. Old Master Jing was annoyed and he ignored Jing Tian.
“There are already rumors that I am not your child. If those rumors gain traction, then it will really hurt the Jing Family’s reputation. Why don’t I make use of this chance to leave the Jing Family? This way, the reputation of the family will be preserved.” Jing Tian’s voice was as calm as ever.
Old Master Jing shot up immediately. “What? Who released these rumors? Which bastard is so free to come up with nonsense like these again? Jing Tian, have you found out who is behind this?”
Jing Tian uttered, “How do you expect me to investigate this? And this happened for not the first time. Every time it will cause a huge uproar. I am tired and I don’t want to deal with this anymore. I never intend to fight for your inheritance anyway. Just let me leave the Jing Family. It won’t affect me being a filial son to you. All these problems will go away after I leave the Jing Family.”
