Nanyang held her waist as she glared at Ye Qian with a fierce gaze. I looked at her with interest. I knew this was nothing yet. There was still hell waiting for my sister. Based on my understanding of Ye Qian, she would always take things to their extreme.
At Nanyang’s wedding, Ye Qian stole the groom away to meet Master Gu Er. She tossed the bride aside and didn’t even give her any explanation. Even in public, Ye Qian had walked away as a victor with the groom waiting on her every need.
Nanyang had lost completely.
Nanyang turned around to glare at me. “You are really a walking jinx! When you’re around, nothing good will ever happen! Haven’t you caused me enough trouble? You’re even going to cause me trouble on my wedding day?”
Before I said anything, Mai Qi jumped in, “Miss Nanyang, can you be more reasonable? How is it Nanxing’s fault that you can’t look after your own husband? Why didn’t you follow them to meet Master Gu Er? Aren’t you the official Mrs. Jing?”
Nanyang’s face was red from anger. I nudged Mai Qi to signal her to stop talking. I glanced at Nanyang. I was in no mood to pretend to be sisterly with her anymore. “You better mind yourself first. If you can give Jing Ning a son, perhaps you can still turn this around. But if you can’t keep this child, then you’ll end up with nothing. Don’t waste time on me because I’m not your real enemy.”
I led Mai Qi and Lu Yan away from Nanyang. Mai Qi huffed, “People like her need to be taught a lesson. Why did you stop me?”
I sighed. “She is currently pregnant, so we better don’t trigger her too much. Why find trouble for yourself when there is none?”
Lu Yan, beside us, whispered, “You two are amazing.”
Mai Qi smiled. “Dummy, what is so amazing about us? The real amazing one is Sister Ye Qian. Lu Yan, I’m telling you, you really should befriend her. She’ll help you with your internship and job. She is incredibly well-connected and successful! It would be best if you did not let this connection slip away. Do you understand?”
Mai Qi uttered naturally. Lu Yan nodded with her eyes lowered to cover the glow in her eyes.
Gu Nian was talking with others but when he saw us, he came over to us immediately. “Where have you been?” Gu Nian always doted on me.
Mai Qi sighed. “Nanxing, I envy you. You always have men coming to take care of you.”
I looked at her. “You have me to take care of you, isn’t that enough?”
Mai Qi rolled her eyes. “Stop saying things like that. If my mother heard you, we’d be so dead!” I smiled.
Gu Nian followed behind us and allowed us to ramble among ourselves. He did not intervene, he was a very good listener. Lu Yan was very reserved, especially after Gu Nian joined us. However, Gu Nian didn’t even register her at all.
Gu Nian suddenly asked with difficulty. “Nanxing, I have to ask you a question on behalf of someone.” I stopped talking and waited for him.
Gu Nian sighed, “How is Jing Ni now?”
My expression turned cold. “Master Liu, tell the person who asked the question that he has no connection to Jing Ni’s life anymore. I will not tell him anything about her. Certain things only come once in life, once you miss it, it is gone forever.”
Gu Nian smiled wryly, “No wonder he didn’t dare to come to ask you in person.”
I chuckled, “That’s because he’s not sincere enough.”
Gu Nian shook his head. “Nanxing, there’s no need to be so harsh on him.”
I ignored him. Mai Qi and I led Lu Yan around, showing her the ways of the upper class. There was something in Lu Yan’s eyes that became more prominent. The world was filled with temptations, not many people could resist them.
We couldn’t find out too much about Ye Qian and Lu Yan’s past but we could do something about their future. Human nature always had a hard time withstanding the test of temptations.
