Silence fell in the car, only the rain drops against the windows and the radio advertisement breaking it.
Qiao Anhao didn’t dare to look at Lu Jinnian, so she turned her head slightly, observing him through the blurry side mirror. She could tell that he wasn’t in a good mood and her originally shaking nerves grew even more shaky. She gripped onto her bag and even her breathing became careful.
The tight atmosphere suffocated her. She desperately thought for a topic. In the end, she asked in a single breath, “You… didn’t go to Song Xiangsi’s birthday dinner? Why are you back here?”
