“Daddy, why don’t we go to Grandma’s house during the new year and help Mommy fulfill her filial duties?” Chi Jiao seemed to have a flash of inspiration as she smiled at him.
Chi Mingwei sighed. “I’m afraid your maternal grandparents wouldn’t want to see me.”
“Why not?” Chi Jiao asked, frowning.
“Your grandmother and grandfather both felt that it was because I didn’t take good care of your mother that she passed away at such a young age. That’s why they didn’t want to interact with me for so many years after she passed away,” Chi Mingwei said with a frown.
He had long wanted to help Jiaojiao’s mother fulfill her filial duties. But unfortunately, he couldn’t even enter the Ruan family’s main entrance.
“Daddy, what kind of people are my grandparents?” Chi Jiao asked softly.
“They’re kind people like your mother,” Chi Mingwei said.
“If so, why would they take it out on you because Mom died?” Chi Jiao whispered.

No reasonable person would blame her father for this.

“Sit down and rest,” he said, then pulled her to the sofa.

Then, Quan Jue went to the kitchen first.
After about five to six minutes, he came out with a glass of milk and a bag of strawberry biscuits.
Chi Jiao watched as Quan Jue placed the milk and biscuits on the coffee table. She heard him say, “You didn’t eat much this afternoon. Eat this to cushion your hunger first. I’ll cook something delicious for you tonight.”

The girl’s sweet voice carried a teasing smile.
Quan Jue’s lips twitched. He bent down and pinched her cheek. “Are you being naughty?”
His movements were light and loving.
Chi Jiao looked up at him with sparkling eyes. “I’m praising you.”
“Then I’ll reward you.” After the young man’s deep voice fell, a kiss landed on Chi Jiao’s lips.
