After the two of them walked out of the theater, the bodyguards continued to watch them vigilantly.
As they had gone outside, they immediately saw a long line of people by the ticket counter. The business obviously wasn’t as bad as Cheng Yan had stated earlier.
A few girls who were in line crossed their arms in frustration. “We’ve been waiting for this movie for so long,” one of them murmured. “I can’t believe that we weren’t able to book it.”
“There are just so many people. We just have to wait for tomorrow’s showing.”
“I wonder how early these people book their tickets. I can’t believe they ran out this fast. It’s only been a couple of hours!”
The girls were throwing their hands in the air in complete frustration as they unknowingly passed by Yao Tang.
A thoughtful look flashed across her eyes as she stared at the man beside her.
Cheng Yan, who had been calm this entire time, couldn’t help but feel a little distracted as soon as he met Yao Tang’s gaze. Blinking, he regained his composure. “What’s wrong?”
“There’s a lot of people by the ticket counter. From what I heard, some weren’t able to book their tickets,” she replied.
Cheng Yan’s eyes shifted slightly. He took a deep breath and was about to explain himself when she interrupted, “Did not a lot of people want to watch the movie you’ve chosen?”
He quickly swallowed and nodded. “Yeah, the tickets for the other movie they were referring to had already sold out. This was the only movie that was available.”
“I see.” She nodded. “No wonder Qin Hao couldn’t stand it anymore.”
The corners of his lips inched up to a smile. “Yeah, he must’ve gotten bored.”
The two of them walked out the entrance and were just about to make their way to Yao Tang’s car.
However, before they could make it that far, a flower pot fell from the sky.
“Yao Tang!” Cheng Yan’s eyes widened in surprise. He didn’t even have the chance to think about it as he grabbed her by the arm and pulled her to his chest.
Bang!
The flower pot shattered onto his back before falling onto the pavement. The crackling noises filled the air as the soil spread under his feet.
The surrounding customers screamed, quickly fleeing the scene in fear. Even the two girls that they had passed by from earlier also sprinted as far away as they could, with hands on top of their heads.
The movie tickets they had been holding fell onto the pavement, and Yao Tang took a closer look, picking them up. Twilight!
It was the same movie they had just watched!
However, Cheng Yan didn’t appear as if he had noticed the ticket. His eyes were narrowed at the shadowy figure on the top floor. “Cheng Yi,” he called out. “Investigate this matter.”
“Yes, Sir.” The man behind him immediately ran to the top floor.
When the flower pot fell from above them, Yao Tang had actually intended to dodge it.
What she didn’t expect was to be pulled over and embraced by the man beside her. His minty breath clouded her vision, and she took a deep breath.
Just then, his cool voice snapped her out of her thoughts.
She pursed her lips. “Were you hurt?”
Cheng Yan didn’t say anything. Instead, he waved his hand dismissively. “It’s fine,” he managed to say. “Are you okay?”
His sweet smile was still evident in his features.
However, while he was smiling, he didn’t look like he was okay. His pale face was enough to make her believe that he wasn’t in a good decision. In fact, he even seemed to be bleeding from his backside.
Yao Tang pulled him toward the car. “Follow me.”
Her three bodyguards had also assisted Cheng Yi in chasing the shadowy figure in the room. The others, however, followed Yao Tangclosely.
They all appeared solemn. The man had obviously meant to target either their boss or the man she was with. Whoever it was, letting them get hurt was the fault of their own negligence.
“Miss, let me help this gentleman!”
The woman in black appeared to assist him, but he quickly avoided her.
The woman didn’t really have any ill feelings toward him. However, she also didn’t have that much of a good impression of him. But when she saw this man try to protect her boss without any hesitation, she couldn’t help but approve of him for her boss.
Since he had helped miss, it was only right for them to assist him.
Despite this, the young man didn’t want anyone to touch him. “There’s no need.”
The female bodyguard was stunned.
She, however, had already touched the man’s arm. What she didn’t expect was for him to continuously dodge her movements.
“You’re injured, Sir. You need someone to tend to those wounds.”
“It’s fine.”
Even then, Cheng Yan still appeared indifferent.
