Hearing her tender voice, Lu Yan’s heart softened as he quickly held her hand, lecturing her, “You got down the bed right after waking up, doesn’t it hurt?”
“It hurts, it’s really painful.”
The anesthesia had worn off long ago, her entire body was hurting and she felt like she had been smashed with boulders. She was feeble and her eyes turned red and watery.
“It really hurts? Where does it hurt?”
Once he saw her almost about to cry, Lu Yan furrowed his brows as he blew some air on her hand, obviously worried. “Let’s see if you dare to wander about again next time.”
“I was afraid that you’d be seduced by some other woman.” An’an then looked behind his shoulders, glancing meaningfully at Qianqian.
Lu Yan didn’t lift his head. “Fool, don’t you know that I’m Sun Wukong?”
“What do you mean?” An’an hadn’t understood his words.
“I’m skilled in hitting the fox-spirits[1].”
“…”
Pff. An’an couldn’t help but laugh.
Lu Yan used to live a life of debauchery and had crossed paths with beauties of all kinds. He was immune to women and wouldn’t fall for their tricks. No matter what kind of tricks they were trying to pull, he could tell. They were just a bunch of fox-spirits.
An’an could finally understand the saying, a man who changed his way is more precious than any other.
Lu Yan stretched out his arm, wanting to grasp her waist but in consideration of her injuries, he could only hold her shoulder. “Don’t stand here and talk, let’s go back to the bed. I’ll carry you.”
“Oh.” An’an just let him carry her.
Lu Yan lifted her up gently, avoiding the wounds on her stomach as he walked over to the hospital bed.
“Hey!” An’an instantly reminded him, “Miss Qianqian is still waiting for you, aren’t you going to bid her farewell?”
Lu Yan lowered his eyes, they met with her lustrous ones. She looked at him teasingly, waiting to watch the drama.
“Is it fun to tease me?”
He closed the door with his leg and kept Qianqian outside the door.
Qianqian just stood outside the door, her hands balled into two fists. All these years of Lu Yan treating her coldly, she had simply assumed that it was because of his personality.
But it wasn’t, he was also capable of being gentle.
An’an’s every action attracted him, he had eyes for only her and no one else.
Why her?
…
In the hospital ward.
Lu Yan placed An’an down on the bed, cushioning her back with a soft pillow. “Do you want some water?”
“Mm, yes.”
Lu Yan went to pour a glass of warm water, bringing it to her lips.
An’an took a sip of water and instantly knitted her brows.
“What’s the matter, does it hurt?” Lu Yan furrowed his brows. “Let me go find the doctor, I’ll have him prescribe some painkillers.”
He got up to leave.
“Ah Yan!”
An’an tugged on the man’s sleeve, acting coyly. “If you go over with such a fierce aura, you’re going to scare the doctor. I’m not in pain, it’s just that, it feels really bitter in my mouth. Even the water tastes bitter.”
“Do you want to have some sweets?”
An’an lifted her head to look at him, nodding her head. “Mm.”
“I’ll go buy you some right away.” He wanted to leave again.
“Hey!” An’an tugged on his sleeve, refusing to let go.
Lu Yan stood tall by the bed, looking at her. “Why are you tugging on my sleeve, I don’t have any sweets with me.”
