Lu Yan looked back and his brown eyes landed on Lin Shun’s face. He forced out a sinister voice from his throat. “Scram!”
Lin Shun came from a wealthy and powerful family, and he had a smooth-sailing life. Who would ever dare to talk to him like this?
“I won’t scram. What are you going to do?”
He just barely completed his sentence when Lu Yan grasped Lin Shun’s wrist swiftly and tugged it forcefully.
Crunch! Lin Shun’s arm was dislocated and he cried out in pain. “Pain, pain, let go of me!”
Lu Yan gave Lin Shun a shove and Lin Shun staggered backwards a few steps before falling to the floor. He even rolled a few times like a rubber ball.
Lu Yan looked at him coldly. ‘You don’t know how to scram, and so I can only teach you.”
With that, Lu Yan got onto the driver’s seat of the Jeep, and the car sped away.
“You bastard, come back here!” Lin Shun sat down on the floor yelling away, but he was only greeted with the exhaust fumes from the Jeep.
Puff.
Many people were sneering at him.
Lin Shun looked up. Jiang Guo, Tian Tian and the other FIU members were covering their mouths and laughing discreetly.
He glared furiously at them.
“Go back to work!” Jiang Guo ran away with the others.
Lin Shun climbed up and walked towards Qianqian. He smiled at her solicitously. “Qianqian.”
In response, Qianqian shot Lin Shun a contemptuous look and turned around to leave.
In Qianqian’s eyes, this Lin Shun was not even fit enough to carry Lu Yan’s shoes. She looked at the disappearing Jeep with a mixture of admiration and hatred.
…
The Jeep stopped in front of a villa that was located in the neighboring mountain. Lu Yan had found a signal over here.
He pushed the car door open and alighted. He swiftly entered the villa. There was not a sound in the villa.
There was a suffocating oppressiveness amidst the silence. He looked up at the room upstairs. The door was tightly shut.
Lu Yan walked upstairs.
With every step, his feet felt like they weighed a ton. The muscles beneath his black shirt were bulked up. He did not know what he was thinking about.
Perhaps he was not even thinking about anything.
He had come late.
As long as she was still alive, he would not request for anything else.
In the future, he would spend more time to dote on and love her. Everything would be over and all the scars would heal.
He arrived at the door and there was no sound. Lu Yan frowned and pushed open the door.
Bang! The door opened. He entered the room with bloodshot eyes.
No.
It was nothing like what he had imagined.
As he was walking upstairs, thousands of scenarios had flashed across in his mind, but the scene before him was not any one of those scenarios.
His brown eyes narrowed. He could only react after a few seconds.
An’an was sitting on the bed. Her dress had already been torn and there was blood all over her body. Delia was lying in her arms with the bedsheets around his neck.
But Delia was not yet dead. He was staring at An’an with his eyes open and his body was convulsing.
Lu Yan promptly walked ahead to An’an. He bent down and touched An’an’s head.
An’an looked up immediately and looked at Lu Yan coldly.
Lu Yan’s breathing was harsh and his heart felt erratic, like it had been squeezed tightly by a large palm. He looked down to see her clutching the bedsheets. The skin on her palms were already broken and her flesh was sticking onto the bed sheets. It was a shocking sight.
There was blood all over the bed and the blood dripped down from the bedsheets. It was very quiet in the room. Drip, drip, drip. The sound of the blood dripping made one’s hair stand on end in fear.
There were no stab wounds on Delia. The blood had come from An’an.
Lu Yan’s throat bobbed and he held the back of An’an’s head with his calloused palm, enveloping her into his arms.
His soft lips kissed her silky hair forcefully and he said in a hoarse voice, “An’an, it’s me, An Yan.”
Ah Yan.
Something clicked in An’an’s brain and her rigid body instantly relaxed. Her eyes became clear again. She opened her mouth but did not say anything.
Now that she had regained her sanity, she felt an excruciating pain in her body.
It was painful.
It was really painful.
Her small face instantly became as white as a sheet of paper. Her luscious lashes drooped down and she collapsed in his arms.
Lu Yan removed the bedsheets from her palms, which were already severely injured. He kicked away the already-dead Delia, carried her in one arm and tore apart her dress. There were seven to eight stabs on her stomach, and the warm blood was gushing out relentlessly.
Lu Yan straightened her clothes and embraced her. “An’an, I’ll take you to the hospital now.”
He carried her up and promptly left the villa.
He placed her on the passenger’s seat and tied the bed sheets around her waist. There was no first aid anywhere, he could only do this to stop her bleeding.
The Jeep jumped to start and he glanced sideways at her. Blood was streaming down her slender legs and the seat was swiftly stained.
He controlled the steering wheel with one hand and pressed on her wounds with the other hand. He could feel the warmth of her blood and her life gradually slipping away from his fingertips.
The girl’s head was wobbling about on the seat. If not for the safety belt securing her, she would have collapsed. Her luscious lashes drooped down and she looked like she was going to fall asleep.
No, she couldn’t sleep. She would not be able to wake again if she slept.
Lu Yan’s hoarse voice was shaky as he coaxed and… pleaded. “An’an, don’t sleep, let’s talk. Tell me, what happened just now?”
Upon hearing his hoarse voice, An’an opened her eyes with much effort. She felt pain all over her body and she could barely muster the strength to talk.
She looked at Lu Yan and gently curved her pale lips. “Ah Yan, I said… I would wait for you. I will always… wait for you.
“Just now… I was about to faint, and so I pretended to faint. When Delia… took off his pants, I aimed a kick at him. His expression… changed from the pain. He took out a knife and stabbed me continuously seven or eight times… He was like a maniac…
“I became sober from the stabbing. I took the… bedsheets and strangled him… He struggled a few times and he was too strong. He nearly… got out. But I was thinking, if I die, I will never get to wait for Ah Yan…”
An’an stretched her hand out and held his calloused palm lightly. She caressed his callouses with her gentle fingers. These were the manifestations of him weathering through the storms all these years.
She looked at him and her eyes were as bright as the stars in the sky. “Ah Yan, loving you means loving the things that you like too. All these years, I’ve been following your footsteps. There will be one day when I will be as brave as you and I will have the same faith as you. I’ll live just like you.
“Ah Yan, I’m yours. Many years ago, Mom did not protect Little Yan, but now I’m here to protect you. There will be less sadness and more happiness now. There are so many people who love you and I’m one of them. Remember that always, okay?”
