The sales assistant looked at Tang Mo’er with much difficulty written all over her face. “I’m sorry, we don’t have emergency contraceptive pills here.”
They didn’t have emergency contraceptive pills there?
Tang Mo’er stretched a finger out, pointing at the rack behind the sales assistant. “Aren’t the emergency contraceptive pills right there?”
The sales assistant revealed a forced smile. “I’m sorry, we can’t sell it to you.”
“…”
Her ringtone started to sound, it was a call from Gu Mohan.
She answered the call and the man’s enigmatic voice could be heard. “Don’t even bother trying to get those emergency contraceptive pills, there won’t be a single pharmacy in the entire Capital that would dare sell you those.”
Tang Mo’er’s hands were balled into two fists by her sides, she hung up the phone call angrily.
Hearing the dudu sound after she hung up the call, Gu Mohan pursed his lips into a firm and straight line.
He dialed her phone number once again.
But he heard an automated message instead. “Sorry, the number you have dialed is currently unavailable.”
She had blocked his number!
That damned woman!
Gu Mohan stepped on the accelerator, and the Rolls-Royce Phantom sped away.
…
Champagne Residence No. One.
Gu Mohan went back to his villa, sitting in the living room and he picked up the home telephone as he continued to dial Tang Mo’er’s number.
“Sorry, the number you have dialed is currently unavailable.”
There was a raging flame in Gu Mohan’s eyes, he wanted to just smash his cell phone to the ground.
The doors suddenly opened, Auntie Su had brought little Gu Yelin back. Little Gu Yelin quickly ran over. “Daddy, why are you back so early today? Our teacher just handed us a form today and said I need you to help me fill it out.”
Little Gu Yelin handed a form over to Gu Mohan.
Gu Mohan glanced at it, it was a household particulars form. They wanted to know about the particulars of Gu Yelin’s parents.
When Gu Mohan eyes scanned the form, he paused at the ‘mother’ column, and his face turned somber.
Clutching the form, he crushed into a ball before he threw it in the bin.
Little Gu Yelin’s mouth was agape, he quickly ran beside the bin and picked up the crumpled ball of paper. “Daddy, are you having ‘it’ now?”
Gu Mohan glanced at little Gu Yelin. It?
“Daddy, you’re having your period?”
“Our teacher just told us today that girls will always be in a bad mood and have a bad temper whenever they have their periods.”
Gu Mohan stood up, sending a dangerous glare in little Gu Yelin’s direction. “Why are you telling me this?”
Aiya, little Gu Yelin fell onto the carpeted ground with that one glare from Gu Mohan. “Daddy, is this your last period before your menopause? You’re so violent… Daddy, I’m saying this all for your own good, you really have to work on improving your temper. If this goes on, not only will Mommy leave you, I’m also not able to put up with you any longer…”
Looking at little Gu Yelin’s lustrous eyes, that were exactly like that woman’s, Gu Mohan felt extremely frustrated inside. He stretched out his legs, heading upstairs without saying a word.
…
The next day.
In kindergarten, the other children had all handed in their forms to the teacher while Gu Yelin clenched the crumpled piece of paper in his hands while pouting his lips.
“Yelin.” The teacher walked beside Gu Yelin and crouched down to ask, “Where’s your form?”
“Teacher, my Daddy didn’t fill it in.”
The teacher gave him a smile. “It’s fine, I understand that your Daddy is busy with work. It’s alright even if he doesn’t fill it up.”
The playground and library facilities were all built using donations from Gu Mohan and so the teachers in the kindergarten treated Gu Yelin differently from the other children.
School had ended and Gu Yelin walked out of the classroom, he had been in low spirits for the entire day and a chubby kid, Qiuqiu, ran over. Qiuqiu pointed at Gu Yelin while laughing loudly. “Gu Yelin, you didn’t hand in the form earlier, is it because you don’t have a mother?”
Gu Yelin lifted his head. “What do you mean by I don’t have a mother? I couldn’t possibly have been born from a rock.”
“Then where’s your mother? I’ve never once witnessed your mother fetching you from school.”
“My mother is extremely busy, she doesn’t have any free time to pick me up.”
“It’s obvious that you don’t have a mother. Your mother doesn’t love you, you’re a motherless child!”
Qiuqiu then continued to goad the other children into joining him. “Hurry and come over to see this Gu Yelin, he doesn’t have a mother, he’s a freak!”
“Stop spouting nonsense, I have a mother, my mother really loves me!” Gu Yelin was fuming with anger and so he rushed forward and pushed Qiuqiu.
“Gu Yelin, how dare you push me?”
Qiuqiu retaliated and pushed Gu Yelin onto the ground. Like this, two children got into a fight.
A fat woman then ran over. “Qiuqiu, my darling, who had the guts to do this to you?”
Qiuqiu’s mother jumped to conclusions, yanking onto Gu Yelin’s hair as she pinched him.
Tears welled up in Gu Yelin’s lustrous eyes.
“Qiuqiu, are you alright? Are you alright? Let Mommy check for any injuries.” Qiuqiu’s mother instantly held Qiuqiu tightly in her arms, doting on him.
Qiuqiu hadn’t suffered any injuries at all, but pointed at Gu Yelin accusingly. “Mom, he’s a motherless child. It was him!”
Amidst the accusation, Gu Yelin stood in a corner pitifully while all of this happened. He had witnessed how Qiuqiu’s mother protected Qiuqiu so dearly and his eyes turned even more red.
The teachers had all arrived. “What’s the matter here?”
…
In the teacher’s office.
Qiuqiu’s mother started to kick up a fuss. “Teacher, it was Gu Yelin who started the fight. He needs to apologize to my son!”
The teacher was put in a difficult position, she looked at Gu Yelin and asked, “Yelin, is that true? Did you start the fight?”
“I didn’t hit him, I only pushed him a little tiny bit. He was the one who scolded me–”
Before Gu Yelin could even finish his words, Qiuqiu’s mother interrupted him. “It’s wrong for anyone to use force, Teacher, he should apologize to my son.”
“Yelin, Qiuqiu’s mother is right. It’s wrong for you to get violent and use force, you should apologize to Qiuqiu.”
Pressing his lips together, Gu Yelin stood there rigidly and did not say a word. He was never going to apologize, he did nothing wrong at all! Why were they forcing him to apologize?
“Teacher, what’s with Gu Yelin’s attitude? Get his parents to come!” Qiuqiu’s mother was extremely dissatisfied.
The teacher was about to phone Gu Mohan when Gu Yelin suddenly pulled on her sleeves. “Teacher, can I make the call instead?”
“Okay.” The teacher handed over her cell phone to Gu Yelin.
Gu Yelin held the cell phone in his hands and he dialed a number.
The ringtone rang once before it was picked up. “Hello, may I know who is this?”
After hearing that voice coming from the other end, Gu Yelin pouted his lips and batted his eyelashes. Tears streamed down his face.
He felt upset, angry and aggrieved at the same time.
Tang Mo’er held onto her phone, the person on the other end wasn’t speaking but after a few moments, she finally heard a little sniffling sound.
Tang Mo’er’s heart thumped.
“Niuniu, is that you?”
