Lu Qi’er’s eyes lit up and she sashayed up to him and threw several amorous glances at him, her voice breathless and seductive. “Mohan.”
She wanted to sit on his firm thighs and leaned towards him.
But just as she was about to sit on his lap, Gu Mohan leaned back, and Lu Qi’er fell right onto the carpet.
The atmosphere was filled with awkwardness, Lu Qi’er felt as though her butt had split into two halves and she instantly lifted her eyes to look pitifully at Gu Mohan.
Gu Mohan gave her a cold-eyed stare, it was not only condescending, but also filled with more than a little disdain.
Lu Qi’er’s stomach tightened, she didn’t know why, but as the wedding date approached, she had an ominous feeling that something was going to happen.
A melodious ringtone broke through the silence, Gu Mohan’s phone was ringing.
He took the cigarette out of his mouth and took a look at his cell phone screen.
Jun Chulin?
Gu Mohan played with his cell phone thoughtlessly and commanded Lu Qi’er, “Get out.”
Those two words were simple and overbearing at the same time.
Though Lu Qi’er was disappointed, she was willingly subservient to him, submitting under his strong presence. This was the Gu Mohan she was in love with, high up in the air, like a king. Her king.
Lu Qi’er walked out without another word.
Gu Mohan answered the phone call, “Young Master Jun, is there anything I can help you with?”
“President Gu.” Jun Chulin’s steady laughter could be heard. “There’s nothing much actually, it’s just that Mo’er has moved to her new place and I wanted to let you know.”
Gu Mohan stiffened and his cigarette stilled in his hand. He instantly pursed his lips into a straight line. She moved into a new place?
Did she move to avoid him?
Did she move to Jun Chulin’s house?
“Young Master Jun, why are you informing me about something so trivial? Or is it that you’re planning to invite me to do something else?” Gu Mohan laughed maliciously like the devil.
Jun Chulin didn’t bother to give him any reaction, he gave him the new address and continued, “President Gu, but of course you’d be welcomed as a guest.”
After speaking, Jun Chulin hung up.
Gu Mohan’s handsome brows were furrowed, he took a big puff of smoke and threw his cell phone on the desk.
The cell phone had slammed onto the desk and created a loud bang, just like his exploding emotions.
Over the last few days, he had tried hard to restrain himself from thinking about her and seeking her out. In actual fact, there weren’t too many changes in his life, he was still surviving though his heart had been emptied out, he was just like the living dead.
After her name was mentioned again, he felt his heart being pierced by a million needles, it was numbing and painful.
Had Jun Chulin phoned him to show off?
He couldn’t understand that man at all. What was his purpose in calling and giving him the address?
Gu Mohan slowly finished smoking his cigarette and stubbed it out in the ashtray.
He stood up and left.
…
The Rolls-Royce Phantom was speeding on the road. When the car finally stopped, Gu Mohan had then realized that he had driven himself to Tang Mo’er’s new address.
It was a beautiful little bungalow.
He walked in front of the main doors to the bungalow and he looked inside the tall windows, seeing some light inside the house. It looked very warm and comfortable.
He knew for a fact that she was inside the bungalow.
Or perhaps, he should have just turned around and left, but he chose not to. Stretching out his hand, he slowly pushed open the doors to the bungalow.
Almost immediately after stepping inside, he noticed a lone figure sitting crossed-legged on the woolen carpet. Tang Mo’er had her head lowered while she held a pencil in her hands and was sketching.
She wore a loose, white dress with a yellow cardigan. Her silky, black hair draped over her shoulders and her angelic countenance was simply breathtaking.
Gu Mohan was fixated on her, he hadn’t seen her in almost two days and now that she was in front of him once again, the dark emptiness in his heart instantly disappeared.
