City Hall.
The couple in front of them left and Gu Mohan and Tang Mo’er went forward.
The officer was a middle-aged lady and she looked at them and asked, “Are you here to get married or to get a divorce?”
Tang Mo’er held Gu Mohan’s hand, their fingers interlocking as she smiled sweetly. “We’re here to get married.”
The middle-aged lady handed them two forms. “Once you’re ready, you can sign here and you’ll be legally married.”
Gu Mohan and Tang Mo’er picked up their pens at the same time. Looking at the woman beside him, he squeezed her hand and asked, “Mo’er, are you ready?”
Was she ready? Tang Mo’er put her signature down—-Tang Mo’er.
Then she looked at the man, raising her brows. “Mr Gu, hurry up and sign it. You don’t have any way out of this anymore!”
Chuckling, Gu Mohan put his signature down on the paper. The two submitted the form to the woman.
“Okay, everything seems to be in order. You can go over to take the photograph now.”
So the pair went over to take the photograph. Leaning up, Tang Mo’er helped Gu Mohan straighten his collar. “The photograph on our marriage certificate was photoshopped, right? I want to take a beautiful photograph this time.”
Gu Mohan held her slim waist, sitting down on the chair as he put on a serious face. “Mrs Gu is always the most beautiful.”
This man was great at honeyed words!
“Please look over here. One. Two. Three.”
This was Tang Mo’er’s first time taking a wedding photograph and she was excited yet nervous at the same time. She looked in the lens, showing a beautiful smile.
Just as the photographer was about to press on the shutter when Gu Mohan suddenly leaned over, kissing her cheek.
Click. He was photographed right in the act.
Stunned, Tang Mo’er’s face instantly turned a bright red. Balling her hands into fists, she pummeled Gu Mohan. “Hey, what are you doing?”
Gu Mohan didn’t say anything, he just hugged her.
Pfft.
The other couples present all chuckled, they could easily sense the sweetness between Gu Mohan and Tang Mo’er.
The middle-aged lady patted the table, her expression stern as she warned them, “Please be more serious, you’re taking your wedding photograph now. You have all the time in the world after this.”
Feeling as though she had just eaten honey, Tang Mo’er felt really sweet inside.
…
Half an hour later.
Gu Mohan held Tang Mo’er’s hand as they left the City Hall together. Tang Mo’er looked at the two red booklets in her hands, their wedding photograph was inside the booklets.
In the photograph, he sat beside her and they both wore white shirts. She had a pretty smile while he was handsome. They both looked good and looking at the photograph put a smile on her face.
“Mrs Gu, you’ve been looking at it for almost half an hour, isn’t it enough?” Gu Mohan ruffled her hair affectionately.
Ever since they collected their marriage certificate, Tang Mo’er looked at it over and over again, like a curious baby, or rather, a little girl with her favorite toy.
Tang Mo’er carefully placed the booklets in her purse, holding his arm affectionately. “Husband.”
She called him that with a sensual voice.
Gu Mohan had to restrain himself from turning his head to look at her when he heard her call him ‘Husband’. The corners of his lips unknowingly kicked up but he quickly went back to a normal expression. “Mm.”
He merely answered with that one sound.
Tang Mo’er continued calling him, “Husband.”
“Hm?”
“Husband.”
She continued calling him husband, again and again, giving him goosebumps. “My soul is almost going to come out after hearing you call me that.”
He stretched his hand out to hold her.
“Ah!”
Tang Mo’er jumped away naughtily. “Husband, husband, husband…”
She ran away.
“Little rascal, your skin is itching, isn’t it!”
He went to chase after her.
Tang Mo’er only ran a few steps before he chased up to her, holding her in his arms and she giggled.
“Hubby, you have a wife, a son and a daughter now. You have to live to a ripe old age and protect us. You’re our sky, we cannot do without you.”
As Gu Mohan buried his face in her silky hair, he took in her fragrance as he nodded. “Okay.”
…
In the hospital.
The doctor was walking along the corridor when he suddenly heard a voice. “Doctor.”
The doctor turned around to look. “Oh, it’s Mrs Gu.”
Tang Mo’er looked at the doctor, smiling at him politely. “Doctor, I can sign the papers now. I am now Mrs Gu.”
The doctor was stunned, slowly straightening his back as tears welled up inside his eyes.
…
At night.
Tang Mo’er went back home and personally cooked a pot of millet porridge to bring to the hospital. Once she pushed open the door, she saw the doctor inside the ward too.
The doctor held the report in his hands, seemingly reporting the results to Gu Mohan.
Thump. Tang Mo’er’s heart palpitated, she put the thermos flask down and her gaze was on the report. “Are the results out yet? How is it? It is benign, right?”
Her voice was shaky and her heart jumped wildly, almost leaping out of her chest.
The doctor looked at Gu Mohan, not saying a word.
“You may leave,” Gu Mohan said.
“Yes.”
The doctor stepped out of the ward.
Tang Mo’er had an ominous feeling. They both hadn’t spoken at all, that meant that the results weren’t positive.
As she stood beside his bed, her lashes were fluttering as she looked at him. “How is it, tell me about it.”
Gu Mohan held her hand, his expression solemn. “You have to be mentally prepared.”
“J-Just hurry up and say it.”
“It is… benign.”
Benign.
The word seemed to sear into Tang Mo’er’s mind. Her eyes reddened and tears trickled down her cheeks nonstop. Flinging his hand away, she immediately turned around to leave.
“Mo’er!”
Seeing the intensity of her reaction, Gu Mohan was momentarily shocked. He instantly lifted the blanket, jumping off the bed and he chased after her. “What’s wrong?”
Tang Mo’er started pummeling him and kicking him, crying so badly. “Why did you lie to me… I was so scared… I was really scared…”
Gu Mohan’s heart ached but he was touched at the same time, pulling her into his arms and he hugged her tightly. “Okay, okay, it’s my fault. I was wrong, please don’t cry. If you continue crying, my heart will ache until I die.”
“You’re not allowed to mention death!”
Tang Mo’er was furious, stomping her feet as she covered his mouth, not letting him say anything more.
Gu Mohan’s eyes glinted as he watched her being furious, yet crying at the same time. She did all of this for him. His gaze was all over her and he couldn’t help himself but grab her hands, kissing her red lips.
But Tang Mo’er was still angry with him. She squirmed, resisting him while she was in his arms. “Don’t kiss me! Who said you can kiss me!”
Holding onto her slim waist, Gu Mohan let out a chuckle. “Mrs Gu, have you forgotten what occasion it is tonight?”
Tang Mo’er froze.
Gu Mohan lifted her up, carrying her over his shoulders. He opened the door to the hospital ward and strode inside. “Let’s go home, it’s our wedding night!”
