Yan Dong, who was standing outside, crashed into the table.
All kids had the same education, so how was she so intelligent?
Hearing the noise, little Gu Sihan stuck her head out of the kitchen and fixed her big bright eyes on Gu Mohan before saying in a soft voice, “Mommy, your ex-husband is here.”
Gu Mohan was speechless.
“Let’s start eating then.”
Tang Mo’er walked out with a few side dishes. There was braised pork trotters, grilled squid, fried eel, stir-fried string beans and some vegetables. The delicious smell of the food permeated the air and the food looked absolutely divine.
The enticing aroma of her cooking wafted into their nose, making them all salivate.
Gu Mohan suddenly felt hungry.
His deep, narrow eyes landed on Tang Mo’er’s soft features. She didn’t lift her head to meet his gaze and instead lowered as she set the dishes down.
His heart was in agony. He knew that he had made her angry and upset. But his heart hardened as he thought back to all the days of suffering and missing her these past three years.
At this moment, Tang Mo’er walked out with a few bowls of rice. Gu Mohan counted them discreetly. One bowl… two bowls… three bowls…
She had prepared a bowl of rice for him.
There was no way the two of them would be able to finish all the side dishes as well. She had obviously prepared all this food while considering his share.
She had done all this despite being upset at him. His heart softened as he thought of this.
Gu Mohan sat down.
Tang Mo’er set his bowl of rice down in front of him and said, “What are you sitting around for? Go get the chopsticks.”
As Gu Mohan lifted his head to look at her, it was only to be met with her bright, watery gaze on his face. Her eyes were lovely yet still tinged with anger and she looked like a wife ordering her husband around.
Gu Mohan felt his mouth go dry. He quickly got up to get the chopsticks.
As he headed back to the dining table, he heard Tang Mo’er speaking to Yan Dong. “Secretary Yan, I’ve prepared rice for you as well. I’m afraid it won’t taste better than the food you have at the hotel but these were made by crops I grew, so stay and try some.”
Tang Mo’er had prepared another bowl of rice.
Only then did Gu Mohan notice that there were four bowls of rice on the dining table.
Yan Dong was taken aback but flattered. In his opinion, the dishes looked very flavorful and more delicious than what they had at the hotel. He had already been salivating for quite a while.
Seeing Tang Mo’er take the rice personally to him, he quickly reached out and said with a laugh, “Madam, I’ll do it myself-”
Before he could even finish his sentence, Yan Dong felt a dark gaze land on him.
He lifted his head only to be greeted by the sight of Gu Mohan holding… three pairs of chopsticks.
Yan Dong froze, feeling as though the bowl of rice in his hand was a burning potato. “Madam, I already ate, so I won’t be eating here.”
Yan Dong quickly put down the bowl of rice and ran away without looking back.
Tang Mo’er was surprised and looked at him suspiciously. Didn’t he just say he hasn’t eaten yet? Why was he trying to escape?
At this moment, Gu Mohan walked over and said in a low voice, “Let’s eat.”
…
The three of them finished their meal and Tang Mo’er brought the dishes back into the kitchen to wash them. Little Gu Sihan followed behind her happily.
Gu Mohan was sitting on the sofa, going over the documents that Yan Dong had sent over. But no matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t concentrate at all. All he could focus on was Tang Mo’er and their daughter’s laughter.
He could tell that the bright rascal loved her mother dearly.
It was often said that a daughter is closest to her mother and father’s heart but in this case, it was only half right.
It was clear that she was really close to her mother but clearly had different opinions about her father.
Tang Mo’er finished washing the dishes and walked out of the kitchen. She spotted Gu Mohan in the living room.
He was sitting on the sofa, his long legs crossed gracefully over each other with the documents perched on top of his knee. He was reading the documents intensely.
Tang Mo’er couldn’t help but take a few more glances at him. His side profile was exquisitely handsome and had a dignified and profound aura to him. He was in his prime years where he had status, position and power all within his palms. He was an immensely powerful man.
Her gaze softened in the dim light. It had been three years and she missed him very much.
Gu Mohan was acutely aware of her every movement and knew that she had been staring at him, and for quite some time.
His cold, thin lips slowly curved into a smile and he looked sideways at her.
Their gazes met. Tang Mo’er’s eyes were filled with love, longing and shyness. He took all of this in with one gaze.
Tang Mo’er shifted her face away quickly as a blush spread quickly throughout her pale face.
None of them said a single word, but the temperature of the house seemed to rise rapidly.
Gu Mohan swallowed.
At this moment, little Gu Sihan ran out. “Mommy, go back to our rooms to have a bath and go to sleep.”
“Alright, my darling!”
Tang Mo’er brought Gu Sihan back into the room.
As soon as they entered the room, little Gu Sihan lowered her voice and said secretively, “Mommy mommy, Mr Gu has been sitting there for an hour and is still on the first page of his papers. See? He must not be very smart!”
Gu Mohan who was sitting outside was rendered speechless.
…
He put his documents down and walked to the east room. He could hear them laughing inside as he stood at the door.
He lifted his hand to knock on the door.
“Yes?” Tang Mo’er’s soft voice called out from inside.
Gu Mohan hesitated before saying, “It’s cold when I sleep at night. Please bring me a few more blankets later.”
The room was silent for a few seconds before she responded. “Alright.”
…
Tang Mo’er finished a bedtime story with little Gu Sihan and took a shower before heading to the west room hugging a bunch of blankets in her arms.
She lifted her hands to knock on the door but realized that it was already open.
She walked in.
There was no one in the room and she could hear the sound of water splashing. He was probably bathing.
Tang Mo’er placed the blankets on his bed and started changing his sheets for him.
At this moment, the door to the toilet opened with a thud and a blast of cool air rushed out. Tang Mo’er looked sideways at the man.
Gu Mohan walked out. He had just taken a shower and was only in black trousers with a black leather belt around his waist. His torso was bare.
He was drying his short hair with his towel.
Tang Mo’er’s gaze swept across his naked chest. He seemed to have lost a lot of weight. But this only made his muscles more defined. His shoulders looked stronger and his six-packs more defined. Even the ab lines leading down to his trousers were sharper.
He was rubbing his hair dry, his narrow eyes focused on her face, his gaze deep and dark.
Tang Mo’er quickly retracted her eyes and changed his sheets hastily.
Throwing the towel aside, Gu Mohan stalked over to her, pressing against her from behind.
He caressed her smooth skin through the thin material of her shirt. His nose was filled with the fragrance from her hair and her body.
It was exactly the same as his wet dream from yesterday.
Tang Mo’er froze. In such wee hours of the night, something was bound to happen between a man and a woman who hadn’t seen each other in such a long time…
