An’an had rejected him.
For the first dozens of times, she had merely ignored his requests but this time, she downright rejected him.
Lu Yan pursed his lips, his expression somber as he threw his cell phone on the couch, taking a deep puff of the cigarette.
An’an got up from the bar seat, heading to the bathroom.
He watched her as she walked over to the bathroom. She wore a frayed white knit sweater that day, covering just over her knees, revealing her long and slender legs. With a pair of knee-high striped socks and brown boots on her feet, she appeared so youthful, just like a college student.
Her clothes were loose but it made her appear even more dainty. It didn’t matter what she put on, with her ravishing beauty, anything would look good on her. Her hair was pulled into a ponytail and she was just like a freshly bloomed flower.
Lu Yan looked at her, his gaze riveting downwards on her hips and legs. He slowly narrowed his eyes behind the fogginess of the smoke, his gaze somewhat indecent.
With his Adam’s apple bobbing prominently, he felt as though his throat had been raked through burning charcoal.
God damn it, the cigarette in his hand felt so plain in comparison!
Little Lass!
…
An’an wiped her hands dry and stepped out of the bathroom. She met an acquaintance along the corridor.
An Xi had brought her son with her.
Three years ago, An Xi also had feelings for Lu Yan. An Xi was her love rival back then, but now, An Xi had married Li Si and their son was already almost two years old.
An’an walked in front, looking at An Xi’s son. He had such clear and bright eyes and was simply adorable. She reached over, pinching his cheeks lightly. It was as soft as tofu.
An’an felt her entire heart melting. Maybe it was because of her pregnancy, but she really liked kids even more.
Her Little Yan would be really adorable too.
“Can I carry him in my arms?” An’an asked.
An Xi reciprocated with a smile. “Of course.”
An Xi handed her son over and An’an carried him in her arms carefully.
“General, you’re here,” An Xi greeted.
An’an quickly lifted her eyes to look. An imposing figure appeared in front, standing against the direction of the light. It was Lu Yan.
Lu Yan had both hands in his pockets, pinning her with his gaze.
He had been standing there for a while now.
He had noticed her glancing at An Xi’s son without looking away at all earlier on. Now, she even requested to carry An Xi’s son in her arms.
He could see her side view, her widow’s peak on her forehead, dainty nose and fully pouty lips. Her skin was still as radiant and supple, but there was something different about her. Somehow, she had become even more gentle and beautiful.
She seemed to really like An Xi’s son. Her eyes crinkled into a smile as she carried him in her arms.
Their eyes met and An’an’s heart started palpitating.
How long had he been standing there? Realizing that he might have seen her carry An Xi’s son in her arms, she felt somewhat awkward.
An’an’s face started to turn red.
“Miss An’an, hand him over to me. You can have a word with the General.”
An Xi brought her son away with her.
The two were left behind along the corridor. An’an’s gaze shifted around as she didn’t know what to do.
She missed him a lot, she wanted to move closer to him and talk to him. But when the opportunity came, she was at a loss of what to do and say.
Lu Yan stretched his legs, walking over to her.
She just stood there without moving, her vision slowly turning darker as he approached. He had blocked away the light along the corridor with his imposing figure.
She could smell his clean, manly scent and sense his oppressive aura. He had the ability to make everyone fear him.
He got closer.
Bit by bit.
But he crossed paths with her.
He was leaving just like that?
Not even saying a word?
An’an’s face blanched, tears instantly welled up in her eyes.
“Ah Yan!”
She called his name, running over to him and encircling his trim waist with both arms.
She hugged him from behind.
Lu Yan stopped walking.
“Ah Yan.” An’an nuzzled her face against his back, acting like a kitten asking to be doted on. “I miss you, I really miss you. Do you… miss me too?”
Lu Yan’s body stiffened, his muscles becoming all tense.
Her delicate body was behind him, his ears filled with her loving confession.
Of course!
How could he not miss her at all?
He missed her, so much to the point he was going insane.
His entire heart had been taken up by her.
He desperately wanted to just turn around, hold her tightly in his embrace and kiss her on the lips.
But it wasn’t time yet.
An’an hugged him without making a sound, just feeling his body temperature was enough. In that moment, she felt as though the world had quietened down and it felt so good.
“Ah Yan, I’m all fine after hugging you for awhile. Go ahead and handle your work matters, there’s no need for you to be worried about me. I’m all fine, I can take care of myself well.”
An’an let go of him and turned around to leave.
And like that, she had left.
Lu Yan stood on the spot for a while before he entered the bathroom. Lowering his head to check, there was a note in his palm.
She had passed it to him very discreetly earlier on.
He opened it up, there was a row of neat handwriting—-8 o’clock tomorrow night at XX Hotel room 008. I’ll be waiting for you.
She wanted to meet him tomorrow night.
She had set the meeting up in a hotel room.
Lu Yan slumped against the bathroom door, clenching onto the note tightly in his palm. He raised his brows, revealing a complex smile.
…
At night.
Room number 008.
An’an sat by the bed, checking on the time. It was 8pm sharp.
He hadn’t come yet.
Was he even going to come?
Biting down on her lower lip with her pearly white teeth, An’an felt a little uneasy as she continued waiting.
He was the General now, what if he had some important meeting going on?
She continued thinking too much.
Ding dong! The doorbell rang. Someone was knocking on the door.
An’an’s eyes lit up, springing up from the bed. He had come. She ran over to the door, opening it with a pull.
An imposing figure stood outside. It was really Lu Yan.
“Ah Yan, you’re here?” She looked at him excitedly.
The pair not only had a huge height difference, their ranks were also very different. Lu Yan lowered his eyes, looking at her from above. He glanced at her a little ambiguously and replied, “Mm.”
An’an quickly moved aside, making way for him to come in.
Lu Yan stepped inside.
An’an closed the room door.
Lu Yan lifted his hand, taking off his gray coat, showing the camouflage uniform inside. He just came back from the army base, probably after his training as his uniform had been drenched in sweat and was covered in dirt. He brought with him a refreshing olive-like scent, and also, masculine smell of sweat.
