Chapter 246 – “Give me your account number, quickly.” (1)
After New Year’s Eve, the previous year was considered to be over.
With the new year, Shu Yan, too, was setting new goals for herself. Her goal last year was to lose 33 pounds, get rid of the chloasma (post-pregnancy hyperpigmentation), achieve fairer skin tone, make herself looked to be around 30 years old, and save up to 2 million yuan.
Her goal of losing 33 pounds had been reached and then some. From her original 165 pounds down to 117 pounds, she had lost over 40 pounds. Her chloasma was gone and her skin tone a few shades lighter. Nobody else referred to her as big sisterwhen she walked down the streets. That being said, she still needed to keep up with her skin care.
She came to City Nan carrying 2.42 million yuan with her. She had since bought a house, opened up her own shop, spent money on various areas and was left with 1.92 million yuan. Her shop was doing very well at the time so her plan was to save up to 2 million yuan by the end of the year. Little had she known that she would have purchased a storefront, partnered up with Lao Zhang then with Hu Ruixue and spent another 1 million yuan in total. In the end, she was left with 600,000 yuan, not even 1 million yuan. But there all fell into the investment category. She had received 1 million yuan in dividend from Lao Zhang at year end. As far as Hu Ruixue’s side went, they have agreed that there would not be dividends for the first three years but the asset was there. If they were to look at her net worth, she was already a multimillionaire. And, if she was a multimillionaire in 1993, as long as she didn’t go nuts over something, she would be a billionaire by 2003. Retiring at 2013 would not be an issue at all.
Her goal this year was to lost another 11 pounds, keep up with the skin care, and make herself look how a 26-year-old should look like.
After Shu Yan was done writing that down, she pondered for a little bit and also added another goal to buy another storefront. No matter how close two siblings were when they were children, they would have their own families when they grew up and started to grow apart. Shu Yan didn’t want the two kids to have conflicts over one storefront. As such, she would need two sets of everything.
Some might say that JingJing only needed a set of dowry when she got married but Shu Yan still wanted to be as fair as possible. If they have the ability, that would be great. They would have the capital to kickstart. If the. If they didn’t and was waiting on her inheritance, then it’d be her decision on how to divvy them. There would be no room for discussions.
These problems would be far in the future but it wouldn’t hurt to start considering about them now. In addition, there were the extracurricular activities for the two children. Tongtong had signed up for a singing course and JingJing wanted to add another course. Shu Yan had consulted with her and JingJing said she was interested in learning to play the piano. Shu Yan liked the piano as well and, her family wasn’t too well off when she was a child and she did not have the opportunity to take piano lessons. Now that she had the ability to provide and JingJing was interested, she had no reason to object to that.
Then there was Tianbao. He was too young before but he was 4 years old now and could pick up a class. He had been to every single class and ended up picking calligraphy surprisingly. It wasn’t a bad hobby so Shu Yan agreed to that as well. As long as he could keep it going, she would ask for Hu Ruixue’s to look for a good teacher for him.
With both children taking all the courses that they were, she couldn’t just stay where she was either. It would be awkward for her to learn to sing or dance at her age. Shu Yan thought it over and decided to take up a language course. The languages in this world were the same as the ones in hers. English, for example, was one of the three main courses and was required in any and all examinations. She wondered whether the author had such last impression with it that she had included that in her novel.
She had, after all, level 4 English competency so she had the basics down. Plus, she had the feelings that it was a matter of time when she and Hu Ruixue’s company would be expanding to overseas. It wouldn’t hurt for her to learn some foreign language.
In addition to that, Shu Yan had also decided to look for a gym or a yoga place. She had noticed that as much weight as she had lost, her body was not shapely. It’d only get worse as she lost more weight. Now was the perfect time to body sculpt and she shall not miss out on this opportunity.

Translator’s rambling:
Thank youmax07 for the term “post-pregnancy hyperpigmentation”, googling that led me to chloasma. =)
