“Wow! You sure know how to bargain!” Manager Wu laughed, thinking that the reason Tan Mo could even say something like that without any worries was that she was close with Wei Zhiqian. If something ever happened, she could rely on him.
The manager found it funny because he thought that no matter how close Wei Zhiqian and Tan Mo were, there was no way that his boss would get on the bad side of all the famous directors because of a young lady.
To him, Tan Mo was just being arrogant and ignorant.
“Mr. Wu!” Xu Dashi finally raised his voice. “I’ll have to ask you to leave now!”
Manager Wu was stunned for a second before getting up and glaring at Tan Mo.
‘How dare you think you have the whole world after achieving such a small success?’
That was what the manager thought.
As the manager was about to leave through the door, Tan Mo suddenly stopped him. “Mr. Wu.”
“What do you want now?” Manager Wu turned back and scolded.
He couldn’t believe that Tan Mo actually had the nerve to ask more from him when she got him, a manager, chased out of a meeting.
“I have a question. Do you really think that I and my brother won’t be able to make this drama a success because we are inexperienced?” Tan Mo asked. “Or is it because you agreed to some big shot scriptwriter that he or she would be able to lead the team? I mean, it would be awkward or even humiliating for you if that’s the case. Or worse, maybe you guys are doing trade and already got their end of the bargain. Is that why you are angry and against me writing the script alone?”
“You little brat!” Manager Wu yelled and walked up to Tan Mo to point at her. “I decided to let this slide because you are still young. I even forgive you for making rude remarks, but this doesn’t mean you can go over the line!”
Even Xu Dashi and Yan Zhengxing could tell that Tan Mo was being too straightforward now.
It wasn’t that the two did not notice why the manager insisted on having someone else lead the scriptwriting team, but they didn’t bring it up as it would make things awkward for the manager.
“Aren’t you going to answer my question, Mr. Wu?” Tan Mo raised a brow and asked while remaining seated.
With her height, there was no point in standing up. Even if she did, she would only be a little taller than when she was sitting, and it might even make her look weaker.
“Why should I answer your question?” Manager Wu roared. “Who do you think you are? Who gives you the right to ask me something like that? Do you think I need to answer your question?”
Manager Wu was so furious that he was starting to lose his cool. He even forgot that Tan Mo was being backed up by Wei Zhiqian.
However, Tan Mo wasn’t even slightly affected by the manager’s action. She only blinked and asked another question. “So, if you aren’t going to answer the question, then are you saying that you won’t be participating in the decision-making of this project? It’s not like you have any power to make any decision anyway, but if there’s one less person to go against my decision, the better it is.”
Now that Tan Mo had mentioned it, Manager Wu realized he could not give up on the project either.
Even though Tan Mo had no say in whether the manager would remain on the team or not, he still replied to her question. “Of course, it’s the first reason. Tan Jinqi is a newcomer, and this is the first project he’s directing. There’s no way I can let you finish the script for such an important project alone. This has never happened in this industry before. It’s not like I’m making your lives hard.”
No matter how much sugar Manager Wu coated his words with, the rest of the people could tell that he was lying.
Tan Mo turned to Tan Jinqi and whispered, “Big Bro, can I go wild for once?”
“What do you mean? You always do things within calculations. Just do what you want,” Tan Jinqi said as he looked at his sister proudly. The brother could have such a prideful expression at that moment because Tan Mo had never failed to make him proud. “There’s nothing you can’t do with us backing you up.”
To be frank, Tan Mo had no idea how much her family was worth.
However, through a rough estimation, she believed that $500 to $600 million would not be a problem for her family.
“Would it be hard for us to dish $500 to $600 million out?” Tan Mo asked her brother in an even lower voice.
“Of course not. How hard would that even be?” Tan Jinqi scoffed.
The main reason Tan Jinqi didn’t ask his father to fund his drama was that he felt like he shouldn’t let his family pay for his career.
Another reason was that if his project was funded by another source, it would mean that others believed in his ability as well.
If he got the funding from his family, some would say that he was just relying on them.
With how successful the Tan family had become, dishing out $500 to $600 million for the drama wouldn’t even cause a dent in their asset.
“Okay.” Tan Mo smiled and nodded.
Since she didn’t have the time to get approval from the rest of her family, she decided to make sure that Tan Jinqi was fine with it.
The Tan family would have the same reaction as Tan Jinqi if they were present.
Tan Wenci had even once said that if anything happened when he wasn’t around, Tan Jinqi would have his approval to decide things for the family. The father had faith in his eldest son for making the right call.
As for Tan Mo, the father wouldn’t even care what she plan to do. If anything happened, the family could cover the losses for her.
Even if the Tan family couldn’t, she still had Wei Zhiqian to support her. In the end, he was still her uncle by name.
“Well, then, Mr. Wu, if you really are worried about the first situation, then I can assure you that if this drama fails, the Tan family will cover all the losses,” Tan Mo said with confidence. “With this, we can assure you that Kefeng Films will not suffer any losses from this project. If the drama is a success, Kefeng Films will gain a lot. If the drama fails, the Tan family will be the only one to suffer.”
Everyone in the meeting room was stunned by Tan Mo’s declaration.
However, when they looked at Tan Jinqi, they were surprised to see the older brother wasn’t even surprised. Instead, he was smiling proudly.
At that moment, everyone had the same thought.
‘What the heck are you looking proud for? What Tan Mo said isn’t something you should be proud of! If the drama fails, your family will have to pay at least $500 million! How can you smile in a situation like this? Also, are you sure your little sister can represent your whole family? Won’t your father say something if his son and daughter made him lose that much money?’
“What? Can you act on behalf of the Tan family?” Manager Wu laughed.
“She can.” Tan Jinqi nodded. “There’s no one in the family that has more power than Momo. Everything she says is the will of the Tan family.”
Manager Wu was even more dumbfounded, thinking that the siblings were just putting up an act since their parents weren’t present.
“What? Don’t you believe me?” Tan Jinqi asked when he noticed the manager’s disbelief expression. “Should I confirm it with my dad?”
People kept forgetting that the siblings standing in front of them were actually the children of the chairman of Tanyue Homeware. They were as shameless as people could be.
Before Manager Wu could even say anything, Tan Jinqi had already asked for Tan Mo’s phone to call Tan Wenci.
As to why he wanted to use Tan Mo’s phone instead of his own, it was because it was still working hours and Tan Wenci might be in a meeting.
If Tan Jinqi were to call his father at a time like this, their father might not answer it.
However, things were different if it was a call from Tan Mo’s phone.
Tan Jinqi was sure that his father would answer right away.
Just as he expected, it didn’t even take a second for Tan Wenci to pick the call up.
Tan Jinqi had turned the speaker on so that everyone could hear the conversation.
The first thing the people in the room heard was Tan Wenci’s docile voice. “Momo, do you need anything from your daddy?”
Everyone dropped their jaws. They never pictured that the chairman of the largest furniture company in the country would speak like that.
