They had originally discussed the script with Hou Yue Hai and the scriptwriter.
In actuality, unlike what director Liu said, professor Tang was fairly experienced and knowledgeable in the matter of creative scriptwriting.
“We can discuss when I get there. Just wait for a while,” said Professor Tang.
Upon hearing that Professor Tang was coming, Tan Mo went along to pick him up.
If she was going to do so, so was Tan Jin Qi.
That’s how it ended up with Tan Jin Qi driving Tan Mo and Director Liu to the airport.
They arrived 20 minutes earlier than the expected arrival time and waited for Professor Tang at the exit.
There were many other people at the arrivals gate, waiting for others passengers.
Most production crews would film at the studio near the airport as long as their given script was surrounding the ancient time periods.
That’s why there were numerous paparazzi, agents and fans that would arrive early as well to welcome the other production crews over.
That was also why there was such a crowd near the arrivals gate – there was barely room for everyone to move around in.
There were already some people who had their cameras at the ready.
Even though Director Liu was well renowned, he was still not as recognisable as other creative executives to some fans.
He only wore a baseball cap, so it was easier for him to blend in into the crowd.
Tan Mo was just about to use both hands to grab onto the railings that separated the arrivals hall.
“Hold on.” Tan Jin Qi took out a small packet of disinfectant towels as he saw Tan Mo stop in her tracks.
He took out a singular piece of alcohol wipe and cleaned the railings. “Alright, now you can grab onto them.”
Tan Mo only did so then and casually leant against the railing to support herself.
Director Liu had nothing to say.
Tan Jin Qi really loved to spoil younger ones?
It was like treating a three-year-old.
After waiting for another ten minutes, the three saw Professor Tang pull out one luggage as he emerged from the arrival hall.
“Professor!” Tan Mo saw Professor Tang as she enthusiastically waved over at him.
Professor Tang’s face that carried a stern and solemn expression now lit up with a smile once he saw Tan Mo.
He hurriedly dragged his suitcase with him as he quickened his pace.
Seeing Professor Tang struggling, Director Liu went up to him and helped him out with his baggage.
“Professor Tang, it’s nice to meet you. I’m Liu Run Lin.” Director Liu introduced himself.
“Liu.” Professor Tang smiled and nodded. He looked a lot nicer when he smiled.
“Professor Tang, this is my big brother.” Tan Mo couldn’t hide her proud expression when bringing him up.
“Professor Tang, it’s nice to meet you.” Tan Jin Qi bowed when he reached out to greet Professor Tang.
Professor Tang laughed lightly. “It’s nice to meet you too. I’ve heard about you a lot from Tan Mo.”
“I’ve also heard from Mo Mo about you.” Tan Jin Qi smiled back.
The young man in front of everyone’s eyes was smiling politely – he had the manners and seemed like a fine gentleman.
Alongside Tan Mo’s relationship with him, Professor Tang’s impression of Tan Jin Qi was now extremely good.
“Oh?” Professor Tang seemed to be happy about this as he heard Tan Jin Qi. He asked in anticipation, “Does she mention Professor Gu more, or me more?”
He had intentions to get to know Tan Jin Qi just slightly more.
Professor Tang wished to see if this teenager was an honest one.
Tan Mo was at the side, pouting.
Professor Tang wasn’t being realistic!
He was testing her big brother in front of her!
But of course, she had every ounce of confidence in him.
“I’m not sure what the case is when she’s in front of others, but around me, Mo Mo mentions you more.” Tan Jin Qi smiled lightly. “She always says that you treat her with the utmost care, and since you introduced her to Director Hou as a student, she’ll forever be in your debt.”
Director Liu was shocked as he heard the conversation going on around them.
Seeing professor Tang and Tan Mo’s close relationship was already shocking enough to him.
He couldn’t believe what he heard. Tan Jin Qi was able to become Hou Yue Hai’s student because of Director Tang’s personal recommendation.
Even though Professor Tang had a good relationship with Hou Yue Hai, it was still due to the pulling of a few strings that Tan Jin Qi could become his student.
Upon their initial meeting, it was also now clear that this was Professor Tang’s first time meeting Tan Jin Qi.
So basically, Professor Tang was so impressed merely by Tan Jin Qi’s talent that without even meeting him, he was able to make a firm impression on the Professor himself?
It seems like at the end of the day, it was due to Tan Mo’s relationship with the two that allowed Tan Jin Qi to become Hou Yue Hai’s student.
Professor Tang really was willing to use his personal connections for Tan Mo.
Just exactly to what extent does Professor Tang like Tan Mo?
There was no way that he would spend this much time, effort and care on every single student.
“My sister has been spoilt at home since she was a child, so she’s a bit lazy. If you’re not following up on her from behind, she would never take the initiative. But seeing her combine her talents in the History department has shown me that Mo Mo really must like and respect you. If not, she wouldn’t be doing what she was doing – my sister isn’t one to follow others around that easily.” Tan Jin Qi had mysteriously pleased Professor Tang and also brushed upon another good impression for Tan Mo.
With an elderly like Professor Tang around to support and back them up, this would only benefit Tan Mo.
Even as a big brother, he often couldn’t do much for his younger sister.
At least he could try to do something here.
And it worked – Professor Tang was thoroughly impressed and his spirits were high.
Of course, he still knew that Tan Jin Qi’s words were meant to please.
But it didn’t matter – he didn’t mind.
He liked hearing it!
Professor Tang even wanted to record this and replay it for Professor Gu once he got back.
It would be just fantastic if Professor Gu heard how high of a status he had from Tan Mo’s brother.
“Hahahaha!” Professor Tang was pleasantly happy. He laughed loudly. “How can I not know this little one? I had to go find Hou Yue Hai specifically for her to agree to take her first History lesson with me.”
Tan Jin Qi straightened his expression and moved a step back. He bowed at professor Tang.
“Even though you’re doing this for Mo Mo, this has still benefitted me in numerous ways. I’ve always wished to thank you in person. If it wasn’t for you, there would’ve been no way that I was able to follow in Director Hou’s footsteps.” Tan Jin Qi said sincerely.
“It’s nothing, don’t worry about it.” Professor Tang smiled. “Let’s get a move on.”
“You two brother and sister looking after each other – this good relationship is envied by many.” Professor Tang laughed once again. “However, even though I’m the one who recommended you to Director Hou, you yourself have to work hard too to earn his recognition. When I talked to him, he did say that he’d take you in, but there’d be a trial period. If you can’t handle it, he won’t further guide you along the way even if it were for me.”
“That’s why now that you’re his student, you must use your own skills and might to prove yourself to him. If not, he might think that how could I think he’d let you off this easily with his stubborn temper.” Professor Tang said. Now, Director Liu knew that Tan Jin Qi really had abilities of his own – it wasn’t all just from personal connections.
Director Liu was smart and clever in these ways – how could he not decipher this in between the lines?
He was still shocked that Professor Tang was this nice and generous towards Tan Mo.
