Lu Xuan sat cross-legged before a stone table which he just took out before that pockmarked Sacred Ancestral Stele. He took a sip of his tea as he looked at Xuanyangzi, who rushed to the scene as soon as he got the news.
That was how he usually tempered his state of mind all those years ago to get himself in a totally unfazed state to deepen his training.
However, he no longer needed any external help to reach such a state. By now, he could’ve entered that state whenever he wanted.
He had made it a habit of his for so long that it was impossible for him to break it.
“You monster!”
Xuanyangzi wore a disgusted look in his eyes as he sent that elder of the Immemorial Path, who had been bound by the Dragon-snaring Lasso, flying with a kick.
The kick from Xuanyangzi was so powerful that one hit was enough to shatter most of the elder’s bones.
He had never expected to find a spy in his very own sect, yet that wasn’t even the worst part of it all. It was even more terrifying to think about how such a spy managed to get so high in the ranks.
If the spy had targeted anyone other than Lu Xuan, he could’ve gotten what he was after.
One could only imagine just how threatening such a person could be to be lurking so close around someone.
The man in black had shrunken so much that he almost ended up dried out and shriveled. One look at him was enough to instantly make Xuanyangzi frown.
“I never thought it would’ve been the Beast King.”
Xuanyangzi snorted coldly, making it apparent that he knew that man in black.
Lu Xuan asked, “Do you know him?”
Xuanyangzi nodded and continued, “This man is the master of the Beast King Villa. He calls himself the Beast King. While he had been well known as one of the most formidable in the world for more than 200 years now, he had already retired a long time ago. I never thought I’d find him here now.”
“One of the most formidable in the world, huh? That explains it.”
Lu Xuan nodded. He thought that it would’ve been peculiar for nobody to have known of someone so powerful.
Fostering any one of the top-notch fighters in secret would’ve been difficult; not only did they need to possess an unparalleled level of talent, but they also needed plenty of resources to get that far.
Furthermore, they would have needed to experience all kinds of combat; they even had to clash with those at the same level as them.
Any intentions of fostering one such formidable fighter in secret would have made things extremely difficult.
It was especially so given that the Holy Sun Continent was but a common middle-class world, with the peak of Divine Transformation Realm being the true pinnacle. There was no way one such peak fighter could be nurtured in a sheltered environment, regardless of the world they were in.
“Based on what you just said, this man is a member of that organization. If all of the members of that organization are this powerful, this is definitely anything but good news.”
Xuanyangzi wore a serious expression as he remembered something very terrifying. If the members of that organization were to all be of such standards, that would only mean that they had to deal with more enemies at that level of power.
If the Beast King’s level of powers were the standard at which that organization recruited its members, then the entire organization would’ve been powerful enough to wreak havoc all over the world.
Lu Xuan then asked, “Then again, why would you leave the central gate all of a sudden? Did they try to lure you out?”
Lu Xuan recalled what that Beast King told him. With that, he was able to confirm that Xuanyangzi would definitely not sit around in the central gate of the sect.
“Yeah.”
Xuanyangzi nodded. “I’ve heard that the leader of the Divine Blood Church had appeared in the north and slaughtered people from one of the cities there. I went out to stop Xiang Tianfang as soon as I got the word.”
“At first, I didn’t think much of it. After hearing what you just said, however, I’ve now realized that they were probably trying to lure me out.” The more Xuanyangzi thought about it, the more troublesome he found the whole thing to be.
Lu Xuan said, “Was it truly that much of a coincidence? Xiang Tianfang just happened to wreak havoc at such a time only to lure you out? I think that even if Xiang Tianfang wasn’t part of such an organization, I still wouldn’t think he was so heavily involved with them.”
Xuanyangzi nodded, agreeing with what Lu Xuan said. Everything would’ve made sense if they saw things from such a perspective.
Even if Xiang Tianfang wasn’t a member of that organization, he was still definitely connected to it somehow.
“Your words make a lot of sense, friend.”
Xuanyangzi nodded.
“If someone as renowned as the Beast King from the past generation was a member of this organization, then hardly anything could be considered impossible.”
Xuanyangzi grew increasingly anxious at that thought. That organization had only just begun to show itself. Instead of making it easier for him to take them out, however, it only made things even more difficult.
That was when he immediately remembered something. He then said, “Well, have you fully recovered yet?”
Xuanyangzi looked at Lu Xuan, who looked completely different from before. It was obvious that Lu Xuan had completely recovered.
He was completely different from how he was back when he seemed to not possess any kind of power.
Lu Xuan bluntly answered, “Indeed. Thanks to the help of the Sacred Ancestral Stele, I’ve now completely recovered.”
He didn’t bother trying to hide anything; there was no need to even do so, to begin with.
Xuanyangzi then said, “Congratulations.”
“Something like this is hardly worth mentioning.” Lu Xuan waved it off and continued, “Something like this is hardly worth mentioning, but we’ll know whether or not Xiang Tianfang has anything to do with that organization once we nab and question him.”
What did he mean by that?
Xuanyangzi was stunned by what he just heard. Lu Xuan put it so lightly that he sounded like he was simply going to nab a petty criminal off the streets.
If Xiang Tianfang was that easy to deal with, he wouldn’t have become such a huge threat towards Xuanyangzi, whom the latter had to fight over and over again.
While Xuanyangzi had interrupted Xiang Tianfang’s breakthrough before, that man’s level had already been solidified nonetheless. Having devoured over a billion living beings, his powers were almost on par with those of Xuanyangzi, who had been training hard for ages.
That meant that nabbing Xiang Tianfang would have been anything but easy.
Even so, Lu Xuan put it in a way that made it seem so easy that he could’ve taken the man in whenever he wanted.
However, Xuanyangzi’s expression suddenly changed when he looked at the dead Beast King lying on the ground. While the Beast King was slightly weaker than him, even he wouldn’t have been confident enough to make sure that the Beast King would stay down.
That Beast King had eventually died by Lu Xuan’s hands all the same. While he didn’t see how Lu Xuan managed to kill the Beast King, he was still able to figure out the answer.
If Lu Xuan’s powers were on par with or even somewhat stronger than those of the Beast King, wearing the Beast King down wouldn’t have done any good. The only way for Lu Xuan to stand a chance of fatally injuring the Beast King was if he went all out and ended the fight quickly.
Such a burst of combat prowess wasn’t something that common people were capable of.
Xuanyangzi deemed that Lu Xuan might have had a way to do this.
Frustrated, Xuanyangzi said, “That’s what I’m thinking of doing, but Xiang Tianfang is currently as powerful as me. I couldn’t just take him down even if I wanted to.”
If it had been possible for Xuanyangzi to kill Xiang Tianfang, he would have done so a long time ago. He wouldn’t have dragged things out this much.
Lu Xuan grinned and added, “In that case, count me in. He’s got nowhere to run, after all.”
“You’re that confident, huh?” Xuanyangzi took a serious look at Lu Xuan, already considering the possibility of Lu Xuan being able to actually kill Xiang Tianfang.
