Such beings were known as “hyper beings”, which was a term used by many nations to denote beings with powers surpassing conventional standards or the current limits allowed by the world’s natural laws.
Currently, such hyper beings were believed to be at the Divine Treasure Realm, whose powers surpassed that of Airborne Realms.
There were numerous powerful beings whose level of powers were within the limits and standards of the contemporary world. The Special Task Force alone had several Airborne Realm agents being in charge of various branches all over the country.
Airborne Realm beings were fully capable of taking on any formidable beings of the common variety, yet they would all feel severely threatened when taking on those hyper beings.
Usually, the appearance of such hyper beings would bring mass destruction whenever they make an appearance.
Even the likes of the Special Task Force felt strained to handle the increasingly high number of such hyper beings. The agency did not possess such overwhelming powers, as that would have turned them from a monster of an agency into a conventional cultivation force that served the government instead.
That caused an extreme sense of crisis to well up in the Dragon’s mind.
“That method might be somewhat dangerous, but from the looks of things, it seems like we have no choice but to use it.”
The Dragon recalled a possible way to make a breakthrough from the current limits to reach a higher realm, thus becoming a hyper being.
He was well aware that many powerful, notable cultivation forces out there had their own respective methods for fostering such hyper beings.
That was what enabled them to survive over the course of several eons: the secret methods to allow a cultivator to forcefully make a breakthrough.
However, the success rate with such methods remained low. As time passed and said cultivator’s power and understanding grew, the inherent dangers of failing spiked as well.
As such, many chose to just bear with the situation instead, waiting for the day when the world’s limits became completely undone. That was when exceptionally formidable beings would appear en masse.
In the past, the Dragon thought similarly as well. As the trump card of the Special Task Force, he did not doubt how crucial he was. His demise would have greatly impacted the Special task Force.
As such, he deemed it to be unwise to do anything considered rash unless he was sure of its success.
However, the current circumstances made him think that he needed to do something rash after all.
With more and more hyper beings appearing, the Special Task Force’s might and intimidation factor gradually became insignificant.
He deemed it absurd to go to Lu Xuan and ask for help during such a crisis, as no relationship could withstand being abused in such a manner.
With that in mind, the Dragon walked into a room deep inside the agency and made a decision.
At that moment, the incoming news that shocked cultivators from all over Huaxia, shocking cultivators from all over the world just as much.
That news was none other than the Special Task Force being assaulted.
What differed from similar cases in the past was that the Special Task Force were powerless to fight back. They failed to repel the intruder even after fielding the runic cannons, and casualties among the Celestial Realm cultivators were high.
Ming Yueyao, the world-renowned vice chief of the Special Task Force, was severely injured as well.
The world was left in a state of utter shock for quite some time.
The Special Task Force was a monstrous organization that had the likes of the Dragon and many other top-notch fighters being in charge of things, with their agents found all over the country.
While the Heavenly Palace was deemed to have stolen much of the Special Task Force’s thunder, the agency was still one of the few cutting-edge fighting forces found in the world.
Even so, such a fearsome force was severely wrecked to the point of nearly being outright extinguished.
Furthermore, there was even news saying that the angel’s dead body in the Special Task Force had been spirited away. The entire agency had countless formidable fighters, which included several of them who were sent there by cultivation forces from all over the country. Despite that, that single intruder gatecrashed the place like it was left wide open.
“Who the hell was that guy? How could he be so terrifying?”
“I heard that he even managed to snatch the angel’s dead body away!”
“He was terrifying as hell, I’ll give him that much!”
“I heard that he looked very young. Was that guy someone like Lu Xuan?”
Everyone throughout the world was shocked by the news of the Special Task Force being turned upside-down, but they quickly found that doing so was not the most that the young man could do.
He began his streak at the Imperial Capital, making his way up north leaving mass destruction in his wake.
He made it all through the Shanhai Pass and the northeastern region. He had made every single sect, clan, and religious faction on his target list.
He demonstrated his utterly terrifying cultivation in the wake of the destruction he caused.
Any Celestial Realm being who dared to stand in his way was killed almost instantly, while Airborne Realm beings were hardly even able to do much to him.
It was said that the northeastern shamans were completely wiped out, with not a single member of their headquarters being spared.
The young man began to make his way to the great grasslands of the north after razing just about every cultivation force to be found in the northeast, turning one temple after another upside-down.
The streak went on for a whole month. He seemed unstoppable.
While the young man alternated between pulling punches and fighting in earnest, it seemed that his attacks were ultimately indiscriminate. Some sects and clans were razed altogether on the spot, with every single one of their formidable fighters killed while the rest fled without a trace.
Even so, he immediately left the scene after just severely injuring the leader. His patterns were utterly unpredictable.
The streak continued until he appeared before an old Lama, who was in charge of somewhere deep within the grasslands, put a stop to it.
It was said that some witnessed just how formidable that old Lama was; he was believed to actually be able to fight that black-robed young man to a standstill. It became apparent that the old Lama was also a hyper being who was of the Divine Treasure Realm level of fighting prowess.
That battle was fought for an entire day before the young man was so severely injured that he had to flee. Meanwhile, the old Lama passed away in a nearby temple.
The news shocked everyone for a while. No one knew who that old Lama was, yet the formidable fighting prowess that he demonstrated was simply unmistakable. Had it not been for him running into some unreal outlier like that black-robed young man, the old Lama could have been considered invincible.
However, he ultimately was unable to stop that black-robed young man for good.
Some formidable cultivators finally explained why.
That old Lama was simply of an age that was too advanced. It was said that he had become a living Buddha on the grasslands over 200 years ago, holding out until modern times. As such, his constitution utterly paled in comparison to that of young people of his level of powers.
That explained why he passed away in a nearby temple right after fighting that highly intense battle.
All who witnessed the battle remembered what the old Lama said before he passed: “The demons are here.”
Before anyone was able to make clear what that line meant, yet even more bad news was heard.
The young man that fled with his tail between his legs emerged fully recovered three days later. He had made his way to that temple and killed everyone in there, tearing the remains of that dead Lama just to vent his anger.
The cultivators up in the north were left completely shocked.
No one knew why a monster of such caliber suddenly just popped out of nowhere. That monster behaved even more ferociously than Lu Xuan did back then.
Lu Xuan was headstrong and forceful, killing many people throughout the years. However, he was still someone who could be reasoned with. People could more or less predict how he went about his business.
On the other hand, the newcomer in the black robe never bothered with ethics of any kind. His behavior was completely random, razing any sect or clan he could find just because he was in a bad mood.
Even when he was in a good mood, he would severely injure the leader of a sect while sparing the rest. However, there had also been news about him slaughtering an entire town on a whim.
That killing streak was also seen in the south as well.
Many discovered that the young man in the black robe was not the only one who seemed to have emerged out of nowhere.
