He never noticed it before due to having never fought with members from the overseas rite of the Maoshan Sect, yet he realized right there and then that it was truly as Lu Xuan said.
He was infuriated over the fact that the overseas rite of his sect was truly rotten to the core.
He wondered why they weren’t satisfied with studying the Shangqing Mystical Methods of the Maoshan Sect.
He wondered why they needed to learn witchcraft like Tame Head curses.
The Tame Head curse was something that was cast away by Huaxia in the first place. It was commonly known amongst contemporary Taoist who were the victors in the war of Taoist orthodoxy.
He did not understand why despite being of the lineage of victors, such people had to go and learn things only meant for losers. He saw that to be a massive insult.
It was not something that had to do with the Maoshan Sect’s dignity, but also the war vying to be recognized as Taoist orthodoxy that happened thousands of years ago. In this case, he found it unthinkable to make compromises.
That was political correctness that had to do with Huaxian cultivators, just like how African Americans were supposed to be treated as first-class citizens in the US that the police should not be messing with.
“I can’t believe you people stooped so low as to learn Tame Head! You’re all insane! The overseas rite of the Maoshan Sect is doomed!” Sha Tongshen roared in anguish.
Guanglinzi fixed his gaze on him with a tinge of frighteningly murderous intent flashing in his eyes.
He deemed it imperative to absolutely not let Sha Tongshen leave, and that everyone in the village will die with him on that day.
All who lived to tell the day would bring about his doom otherwise.
“What the hell do you know? Do you have any idea what our lives were like after we ventured overseas?” Guanglinzi said coldly. “There was simply no way for us to train before spirit qi was restored to the world, and we sorely lacked the resources you people had access to. The revered Shangqing Mystical Methods of the Maoshan Sect were reduced to stuff practiced by charlatans. Did you ever think about how we lived like that?”
Guanglinzi was filled with anguish at that thought.
“The Southeast Asian natives only believe in Tame Head and nothing else! If we were to stick with our old ways, there would have been no way we’d be alive today!”
Sha Tongshen smirked and continued, “Quit twisting your words. I don’t care what kind of reasons you people have. You shouldn’t have abandoned the Shangqing ways of our predecessors and surrendered yourselves to such heretic arts!”
“Cut the chatter then. You shouldn’t have recognized all this to be Tame Head. All of you will die here today, along with every single person from this village. They will all die because of you!” Guanglinzi added coldly.
“Well, well, well. You truly are a bloody remorseless animal!”
Sha Tongshen became increasingly infuriated, feeling that the local rite of the sect became even more soiled by the overseas rite’s actions.
He would not have been so bothered if the village had only been a common one. Unfortunately for him, there was just that one guy in that village that the Maoshan Sect would never afford to offend.
If Sha Tongshen were to let Guanglinzi continue throwing his weight about, everything that the Maoshan Sect had built over the ages would be destroyed all in one day.
Sha Tongshen did not dare to even imagine that happening.
The Maoshan Sect had been around for thousands of years, but they would be torn down right here.
The more words Guanglinzi spilled from his mouth, the more he felt the other man be the source of menace.
Anxiousness was seen burning in his eyes. What Guanglinzi said would have most probably dragged the entire Maoshan Sect into the abyss.
They went all the way to hire that old Celestial Master from the Longhu Mountain without any regard for the cost incurred back then, thinking that he would have been able to keep Lu Xuan in check.
Despite all that, the Celestial Master balked before he had even made a single move.
Zhang Fashan gave them an explanation after coming to Maoshan personally, saying that Lu Xuan’s powers were immeasurable.
He deemed Lu Xuan’s powers to truly be far beyond compare, with depths so profound that the young man could be likened to seas and the abyss.
Even though he reached the Airborne Realm, Zhang Fashan’s own level of cultivation would have still paled in comparison to that of Lu Xuan.
Lu Xuan’s powers were terrifying enough even back then, and it would definitely be more so at the moment.
If he were to truly displease such a massive figure, the Maoshan Sect would have truly been done for.
“You’re playing with fire!”
Sha Tongshen remained extremely infuriated.
However, the fact remained that he was still being pummelled by Guanglinzi.
Guanglinzi’s cultivation level was every bit his equal. The other man was too at the Airborne Realm, while at the same time manipulating an undead king whose powers were at the Airborne realm as well.
Pfftt!
Sha Tongshen was rammed by the undead king, with blood immediately spilling from his mouth that made him look rather pale. That was the result of being poisoned by the miasmic qi.
Sha Tongshen’s powers were such that he would not have cared if it was something from conventional jiangshi, yet the one from that undead king whose level rivaled his did notable damage right away.
Those of the Lu Clan continued to shout in fright below.
Two more figures were seen hitting the air one after another in the very next moment.
“It’s Lu Xuan!”
Everyone saw two beings suddenly shooting into the sky.
Lu Xuan stood against the wind, with his hands behind his back.
All that power demonstrated by Lu Xuan before was not enough to shock them just yet.
What truly shocked them was that little girl that they saw to be utterly harmless before was flying alongside him. It was none other than Lu Guoguo.
“Damn…” Lu Jiaxuan pointed at Lu Guoguo and said, “That brat is actually at the Airborne Realm!”
Lu Jiaxuan looked at the two in the sky and felt herself to be on the verge of passing out.
Nothing was surprising with Lu Xuan, yet she was utterly shocked to find that Lu Guoguo was actually an Airborne Realm being who was capable of flight.
While they had yet to personally see more fighters around them in earnest, they nonetheless knew the difference between the realms and levels thanks to prolonged exposure to everything on the internet.
The special trait about the Airborne Realm was that it enabled people to fly.
While Celestial Realm beings were capable of short bursts in the air, they were far from being able to do so with ease.
That was what truly frightened Lu Jiaxuan. Lu Guoguo looked to only be six or seven years old of age. She still looked like an oversized baby, yet she was already at the Airborne Realm.
The concept of the Airborne Realm meant that if Lu Guoguo angered, she could have easily killed Lu Jiaxuan.
“What the hell is with this family?”
Lu Jiaxuan was shocked to the core.
Chu Yan’er had her hands covering her mouth, not making a sound. The shock in her eyes, however, was unmistakable.
She recalled her judgment of Lu Xuan as a man with loose muscles who did not look to have trained for one bit.
It was then that she realized how ignorant she had been all this time.
It was not that Lu Xuan had not been trained in any way, but that Lu Xuan’s level was so high that common people found it utterly unimaginable.
Her cultivation was simply at a level where she was utterly incapable of gauging Lu Xuan’s powers.
All the other villagers watched the scene unfolding before their eyes with gaping jaws.
They all knew that the new era was one where cultivators ultimately called the shots. If a village had a cultivator emerge among them, that cultivator would have become the pride of the entire village. In that case, the village might have even received several benefits from it.
Based on the current situation, it became evident that Lu Xuan and Lu Guoguo were not common cultivators, but the strongest among the best ones.
Sha Tongshen kept being pushed back, wiping the blood at the corner of his mouth while glowering at Guanglinzi. He then turned around and said to Lu Xuan, “Looks like I need your help after all, Mr. Lu. I can’t take on this traitor of ours on my own.”
He felt rather bitter and vexed as he spoke. Had it not been for him being cornered, he would have never asked for Lu Xuan’s help.
“Who are you?” Guanglinzi locked his gaze at Lu Xuan and suddenly realized something.
“You… You’re that Lu Xuan…” Guanglinzi said in shock.
